Backpack. Get one with lotsa smaller pockets up front for the little stuff. I haven't found a "fishing backpack" I liked so I went to a backpack store with a big selection and found some nice ones.

backpack sounds like a good idea. Where do you store your lures at? Buy those clear plastic box?

LOL I would go with the vest myself. I do a lot of trout fishing in the mountains. When you wade up all you got is what you can tack to your vest or fit in the pockets.

When I went to bass fishing, I went the same route. I converted one of my buds to the same thing. I got a light version of everything I need on my life vest on thiose little zipline thingies. Pliers, knife, line cutter, little flashlight, long nose pliers.

That way, when I need it, There is no need to reach for anything, it is right there on my vest. You can of course take it too far, and totally undermine the purpose of your vest.

This is perfect, especially for the price! I have the xps stalker from bps which is pretty much like this. It's the older yellow one they put on sale right before they came out with the new grey one and I got it for around 25-30 as well. I fish from shore as well and being able to carry it like a backpack is very nice. Good find muddy!

My pocket. Pack of worms, 2 extra hooks, 2 extra weights, lure box with one lure.

I just saw the review on the backpacks, and few folks got negative feedback on the straps. Do you have that problem with the xps stalker?

one double sided plano for hooks, jigs and weights. one for lures and another for my UL stuff (small hooks jigs and cranks). larger front pocket for plastics and the smaller for my multi-tool , diagonal cutters , bug spray and small first aid kit.  all in a dickies backpack i picked up at JCpenny for $8.xx on clearance. has a lifetime warranty too!  ;D

id say now it weighs in at under 5lbs. much more comfortable than my draw string bag i had and cheaper than any fishing bag ive seen.

I use a one shoulder strap back pack....It hangs on my back and I can spin  it around in front of me to get tackle out....Then spin it back around. It is big enough to carry what I think I might need for that trip.I wade fish for a 1/2 mile or more at a time, then usually get in the road to walk back home or to my truck.

I use a backpack also.  I take 2-3 plano 3600 boxes and 1 falcon small worm bag.  I have 3 plano 3600 boxes I use just for walk arounds.

Backpack infact I have two one for flyfishing and the other for everything else.  I think the Backpack is the best way to go, it holds everything you should need and it stays right with you all day long.

Only thing I can say is a down fall and this may be just me but it is always to full hard to find somethings.  

I have a two sided Plano to hold hooks, weights and lures and CD case to hold buzz bait and spinners...It's got different pockets to hold bags of worms and things...

I picked up a BPS Stalker a few weeks ago and love it. Holds a ton of stuff and is comfortable to wear.

I have the older yellow one, not the newer grey one. They look exactly the same I'm not sure of the differences but I've had no trouble at all with the straps.

I use a Flambeau backpack.  Its held up for three years.  It gets beat on pretty bad in the winter, trout fishing in small streams.

Looks like backpacks are most popular.  

I use a waist pack that Cabelas carries. WFO Trek Pack, located in tackle bags. I have a Plano grey double sided hard plastic box (there are 2 sizes of plano double sided boxes, its the smaller one). You can also fit another type of slim box of the same perimeter size along with putting stuff in the smaller pouch on the exterior. It is comfortable, you hardly know it is there. Check it out.
