  1. As the youngest member of the mod squad I would just like to say. Happy Birthday you Old Fart.
  2. Cast sidearm. Keep the lure at a low trajectory. As it gets close to the water slow it down with you thumb and then stop it before it touches down. Then quickly move you rod tip toward the lure. Think of it as placing the lure in the water instead of casting it.
  3. This happens about once every six months for Bucket. His need to get the final word gets him way in over his head. This to will pass and Bucket will be funny again.
  4. Yea, what was her name again. Muddy might remember. lol
  5. Bighead, It's good to see you and your son back out on Fork and catching some fish. Those are some nice hot weather bass.
  6. I fish bright colored trick worms in the Clear water of my home lake. I like Merthiolaid and Bubblegum. These work great when the water gets hot and the fish are in the short grass in shallow water. So if I had to choose between those two colors. I would pic the bubblegum. But if I was trying them for the first time. I would try to find some Green Pumpkin or Watermelon ones somwhere.
  7. Glenn's been working on that for several days now.
  8. If it doesn't fill my freezer with the least amount of work I don't hunt it. So that limits me to deer. I might go turkey hunting once a year. I have a Ruger All Weather 300Win Mag T&C Ancore in .243 and .308 Win. 1300 12gauge shotgun with an additional slug barrell.
  9. Welcome, We're glad to have you here with us. Join in and have a blast.
  10. Exactly, Thanks. I am going to do something like the one with the Black and Blue EVA but with a full grip. I'll be building it on another SCIV.
  11. DH, That is called the Clinch knot. After you pass the end of the line through the hole at the bottom. If you then pass it through the arch you just made and then pull it tight that would be called the Improved Clinch.
  12. I usually don't get into telling others what rods they should be useing. It's such a personal preferance that it gets confusing with all the opinions. I will tell you this. I have fallen in love with a 6'6" Med X-Fast. I built one several months ago out of a StCroix SCIV blank and it has become the most versitile rod I have. It has enough give for light cranks, topwater, and jerkbaits, but has enough backbone for flukes, trickworms, senkos, light jigs and jighead worms.
  13. That's cool. That reminds me. Fletch, can you email me the picture of your cork work. The one with all the rod handles in it. I am making a rod for someone and I need some ideas. Thanks.
  14. The lure. It's not mine. Senko77 left it in my truck. He got it from Randall. If it stays long enough for my swimbait rod to get here I will be chunking it for LM. It seems pretty solid. It could use better hooks.
  15. If I know the lake I will always check the high% areas first. Then go from there. If I find fish, depending on the weather and time of year I usually stay put for a while.
  16. Translation. Amateurs. You don't know who your dealing with do you?
  17. That's funny. I have one of those in my truck. I'll have to take a pic of it.
  18. Wow. This supprises me. I didn't think I would be the only one to use the Improved Clinch. I use it 99% of the time. I can tie it much faster than any other knot. I just started useing the palomar on braid a few years ago. On my cranks I use a clip tied with an improved clinch.
  19. I make my own from some military poncho material you can buy at some WalMarts. I customize them to fit each rod. I made 18 of them for like 7 bucks. (I ain't ashamed to say that I know how to use a sewing machine.)
  20. I wish they would walk him for the rest of the season.
  21. I know that one of us Mods locked this but I feel like I need to say something as a former solider myself. JF, I am truly sorry about your son. It sounds like he is a victim of Politicians getting involved in warfare. It is sad to see this happen to our fighting men and women. I am sorry it has hit so close to home for you. I didn't see the CNN spot about the meals. But the ones paying for their meals may have been those who were under a "Line of Duty NO" This is when they are being treated for self inflicted wounds or injuries received when they were not following orders or just plain screwing around. Like I said I didn't see the spot but if it is all wounded across the board then we need to write our congressmen. As for purchasing our equipment. We have always done that. The army has always stiffed the little guy. I lived in a buildings where the concrete floors were caving in. Every time we got deployed I always packed extra personal weapons and bought extra ammo and extra/better body armor. I was just part of it. Yes it is sad and we should do something about it. But I don't think it will ever change. And for being on welfare. Many of us were and are on Welfare but the sad thing is that there are even more that should be but their pride gets in the way.
  22. Sweet. You must have heard the interview with one of our Mods. (Low_Budget_Hookers) He is one of a kind. lol Welcome to the best bass fishing website on the internet. I know you will love it here. We sure are glad to have you.
  23. Welcome, That's a great fish
  24. Just remember that we can see the Young Anglers Forum to. lol I'll tell you this. Working with these guys is an honor. I have totally enjoyed every day of it. My schedule is the most screwed up. I work a full time job on weekend nights. I stay on the computer there most of the time. I sell insurance out of my home office during the week. I have two computers at home and one is always on BR. When I am on the road either fishing or working I have my laptop I check in once or twice a day. I always find time to fish. (Sleep is over rated.) I fished four days last week.
  25. Most people don't know that we have yellow perch down here in GA to. As a matter of fact most of the fishermen around here don't know we have them. That's my favorite color crankbait. I will have to give one of these guys a try.
