  1. That ain't right. lol ;D
  2. I'll attest to that one. I love my noodle rod though. (I know what your thinking Muddy. Don't go there.) :-X
  3. The one that I use and have grown very fond of is a G-Blank ML Spinning. I put a dropshot keeper on it myself and it is perfect. That keeper is the way to go. It saves alot of time and headaches.
  4. When someone else is in my boat with me. I always tell them that they are welcom to try any tackle in the boat. I never have had a problem with that.
  5. justfishin gave some good advise. Dring OJ or Grape juice or Apple juice in the mornings. The vitamin C will help with the cravings. We are all behind you.
  6. The one thing to remember is that "Deep" is relitive to the lake you are fishing and what the fish like. On most of the lakes that I fish. The bass are 8 to 16 feet deep in the heat of the summer. On one of the lakes they are only 6ft deep and on another they are 30 to 50ft deep. So it depends. The best advise I have for anyone who is wanting to gain more confidence in deeper water fishing is this. Don't think of it as deep water fishing. Think of it as off the shore fishing. Look for off shore structure like underwater humps with brush or grass or rocks on it or rockpiles at the deeper end of long points. If it's a clear lake you might find deep off shore grass flats. (Look for the greenest grass you can find) If it's a muddy lake you wan't to look for rocks or brush on humps and points. Off shore ledges are great to. You can do it. Just don't think of it as deep fishing and you will do fine.
  7. WOW. What a way to get things started. I know your hooked on tournament fishing now. That's great.
  8. OUCH, Just the title of this thread makes my head hurt.
  9. Oh man there are so many different ways to catch bass in August. It depend alot on where you live, what type of lake you fish, water temp, water color, type of cover, type of structure and on and on and on. There are some great articles on this website about fishing during the summer time. Go to the green boxes at the top and hover over the one that says Fishing Articles. Then click on "Summer Fishing Articles" and start reading.
  10. Welcome. Your introduction reminded me so much of how things were when I was a teenager. I would fish when I could but when I started driving I fished almost every day. I fished from the bank for about 12 years before getting my first boat. You are so lucky to have found this website. You will learn more, faster then anyone could just a few years ago. This site is awesome.
  11. "lure nazi" It's good to have someone else on here to rip on Mike other than me. He does have a big target on his forhead. Thanks for being with us Bobby.
  12. senile1 is right. Gary "one up'ed" himself with these rods. I have talked to him a couple of times over the last few weeks and I can tell you that you won't find a better guy than Gary. He knows his stuff and he understands the needs of those of us looking for the most bang for our buck. You won't be dissapointed with these rods.
  13. Aut

He's refering to the size of the hook. 1/0, 2/0, 3/0. Pronounced "one aut", "two aut", and "three aut".
  14. I've been bow hunting sence I was 12 year old. I love it.
  15. It is an amazing rod. Very ballanced, extremely light, and great for weedless dropshoting. If I didn't have the G-Blank rod already, both rods would be a Dobyns rod. I love it so much I just ordered five more to replace some of my other rods.
  16. I am glad to see that swimbait in the fish's mouth. I'm glad to see you catching fish on it.
  17. OH man that would work great on a Spot Remover or any other type of jig head.
  18. I'll be getting mine as soon as they make it for me. The Mike Long Rods should be great.
  19. A 1/4 oz Spot Remover with a Zoom Finesse worm.
  20. This is true and he is a rod building genius but nothing he makes ever sells very well. Maybe he is too far ahead of his time or maybe he needs an education in marketing. I don't know what it is but he needs to sell his winning concepts. The five little crystal plaques he's got aren't worth any money.
  21. The rod that I use depends alot on how I rig the hook. If I am useing a small exposed hook I use a ML. My friends call it a noodle rod but it has put bass in the boat up to 10 lbs. You don't have to set the hook with it exposed. You just lift up on the rod and the fish is on. If I am useing a offset hook and I am rigging it texas/weedless. Then I bump it up to a Medium action so I can have the backbone to ****** the hook through the worm and into the fish. I use a G-Blank 6'8 ML or a Dobyns 703SXF (Better balance and more backbone.)
  22. It sounds like you are having a algea bloom on this lake. It is the result of the fertilizer. You need to think of the water as very muddy untill it clears up. The fish will be shallow for the most part and holding tight to cover and structure. Dark or bright, loud lures are the best. Good luck because it is tough to fish any algea bloom.
  23. Here is one way. Watch the videos. http://www.muggyweld.com/boat.html?OVRAW=aluminum%20boat%20repair&OVKEY=aluminum%20boat%20repair&OVMTC=standard&OVADID=2628354512&OVKWID=28004047512 Here is the best way. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp;jsessionid=D5XTE0VTPYNDUCWQNWRSCNIK0BW0IIWE?id=0001390010655a&type=product&cmCat=gifts&cm_ven=data_feed&cm_cat=gifts&cm_pla=0240101&cm_ite=0001390010655a&_requestid=61925 Remember to use the link on BassResource
  24. Great advise so far. When bass go deep. I head for the deep end of long points and humps on the main lake and large creeks. My favorate cover is deep (green) grass. I idle around with my fishfinder on, a marker bouy in my hand and my GPS ready to mark. When I locate bass I fish them with a Drop Shot Rig, Jig and C-Rig with at least a 24inch leader.
