  1. You have Suwannee in the northern part of the state: http://www.bassfishingflorida.com/species.htm 8-) Except if you read it says that smallmouth do not inhabit this lake. 8-) ;D
  2. Man don't waste your money on plugs. Just take an old bass casting sinker. If you don't have one of those just take a bullet weight that you wan't and then tie on a snap to prevent it from coming off. That's what I practiced with and it worked like a charm.
  3. I have no idea what happen there. My #6 line doesn't change color or break. Don't know... 8-) Probably is a bad batch then. Keep my fishing tackle and supplies in a cool room inside drawers where sun can't get to it. I'll give another spool a shot and see what happens.
  4. No way that fish is 2.5-3.5 Believe me I catch a lot of them in my dads pond that are weighed. Thing is at least 4lbs-4.5lbs.
  5. Weren't you the guy that said a couple of days ago your line was breaking because you weren't cleaning out your backlashes all the way? Was this with the Yo-Zuri and are you sure thats a line issue? Try the Regular Hybrid when you go out next. It works well for me. No that was with Cabelas. Hasn't happened since. Good line and recommend it. I think it was Muddys line of choice as well. My Yo-Zuri #6 was being put on my spinning rod. Wasn't a loop issue or knot issue. Just breaking. My line was turning into a milky color though instead of that nice green color. Maybe that was a sign of weakning? Was fishing this line in the creek when I had problems. Maybe its a rock issue? I just know that my BPS Fluoro in 8lb has been amazing in the creek for smallies. No breakoffs yet.
  6. Probably what he uses for everything else. Berkley Big Game 15# Correct Catt? ;D
  7. Price is good but I don't care for it either. It's been the only line this year that has let me down as well. Too many breaks and they weren't at the knot (couple of them broke while bringing the fish to shore so I could see where it broke). BPS XPS Fluoro in 8 lb Cabelas 10lb mono Big Game 12 lb mono Power Pro 30 lb braid These have been my line of choices this year on different rigs and I have ZERO complaints with these four.

Ordered one from TW this morning along with there spinnerbait. Going to see what all the hooplah is about. Plus I'm now addicted to slingin' jigs into timber.
  9. Man, don't you hate it when that happens? 8-) Horrible!!!! :'( ;D I know with this temps increasing and the water level dropping that there going to be heading to deeper pools at some point. Maybe even head back down the creek altogther back towards Erie. Who knows though......we were catching them on crawlers through August last year. The numbers were not there however.
  10. How people can fall for you guys is beyond me. To be honest with out being rude.....I hang up on you guys everyday. Work in purchasing at my local hospital and some of the crap that comes out of peoples mouths is down right hilarous. Like I'm really going to believe that you guys really give a crap about my day and blah blah blah. If I had a dime for every person that called me about "their toners" being superior to blah blah blah I would be rich. ;D
  11. I'll go with 4.5 maybe 5. That sucker looks just like my PB smallie from last year.
  12. Kind of hard not to be, to be honest. They are everywhere. Behind rocks, in fast current, slow current, no current, by ledges and dropoffs. 1ft of water.......up to who knows how deep some of the holes are. Open water with sand bottoms....gravel bottoms.....you get the point. There is just no pattern to speak of. Cast and reel in....been crazy!

Was going to say the same exact thing. My personal best this year came off this bad boy. Karu's Poison tail jigs have given me some pigs as well. Check out Gmans custom jigs too. You can find the link under his posts. Haven't given them a test drive yet but they are very nice.
  14. Been posting here a lot since last summer and I just want to say "Thank You" to everyone who puts a ton of time and energy into this site. Have been saying that my numbers and size are up a ton this year. In half has many outings as last year. Over the winter I absorbed a ton of info on this site. You all have been very kind and patient with my questions and probably a lot of dumb posts. I credit my fishing success this year to this site and this site alone. Fished many techniques this year that I wouldn't have in the past. Instead of staying clear of trees, gunk, slop, shrubs, etc.....I have now aimed towards that stuff and learned how to fish it. Have learned when and how to throw spinnerbaits, jigs, and most importantly to me....crankbaits. All of those of which I had zero for success last year. Went from a plastics only guy....to a fisherman who looks at the conditions and fishes them accordingly. Instead of force feeding fish weightless senkos on 30mph days. Thank you so much. You have no idea how better you all have made me as a fisherman this year and also as a person in general. Look forward to continued learning now and in the future. 8-)
  15. Thanks. I do it all the time too. I make sure I wet down all my knots before cinching them tight. But this little extra step gives me peace of mind while fishing the trees and downed timber.
  16. Been applying a dab of super glue on my palomar knots. Using it on 30lb power pro to help with any possible slippage. Will this damage my line? Just a thought that I was pondering while driving back down to work.
  17. Plastic crawfish (any kind really) with a bullet head in front to stir up the bottom (looks very real). 5" GYCB Grubs in Green Pumpkin were monstrous for me this past week. Weightless worked better than putting a jig head on them. For some nice sized smallies and to get rid of the smaller ones you could go with 7" Berkley Powerworms. Plastics are such a big producer for me in my local creek that I'm not sure hardbaits would be worth it.
  18. Hey now Just wait, only a couple more weeks of me working Grave and we'll see. Starting in July (for 3 months) I will be working 4 - Noon, so then it'll be time for some fishing. And now a dry socket and infection on the wisdom tooth just pulled doesn't help (and no I wasn't smoking, I'm smarter than that) Just watch your back when your heading to one of my holes and if you try to get up... stay away from the slippery slate and creek bank Nice fish by the way Thanks. ;D Hey I showed you those holes in Versaille my friend. 8-) Hope you get better man. Come July there definately will be some serious fishing going on.
  19. If my wife has her way I won't be getting any of this stuff. Keep trying to tell her that stimulus package is coming in so why not just throw it on the card. She keeps telling me that money should be going towards a house. Who needs a house! : ;D
  20. Help me decide guys! Toss up between two totally different reels. Jigs and worm fishing mostly. Want a light reel but high speed is intriguing as well. What about power? Argh I hate trying to make decisions. Especially on two totally different reels. If Gman gets back to me with my offer I "may" be pairing one of these with a GLX 854 7'1" Loomis. What would be the better fit? :-/ :-/ :-/
  21. Don't own a boat. But I do travel to other ponds/swamps that I like to fish. So far this year I haven't hit a couple of them. There probably about 30 miles round trip. Which isn't bad. But when I have five different places that I can fish that are only 5 miles or less away than that makes me think twice of going any farther. Gas is a killer. There is no way I would be able to afford running a boat right now.
  22. Smart man. ;D Kidding kidding. If an automaker lets me down and I have problems with a vehicle than I never go back. Ford is one of those companys. Talk about a pain. So far Chevy and Toyota have never let me down. My wife has a Dodge Stratus and I'll probably never latch onto Dodge again either.
  23. Awesome fish! That first one is almost as fat as it is long. Very very cool smallie.
