  1. I don't use a tool either but I just threw that out there for people that may want to. Don't even use O-rings. Just a plain ole wacky rig.
  2. Is the old packaging the green colored or the clear colored? I have picked up some GYCB in both styles this year. Not a fan of the clear packaging. Gets very oily feeling on the outside.
  3. What are some of your favorites? Which worms work the best for that standup approach? Last year I had some success with a gulp shakey worm. Next year I plan on getting into the technique a lot more. So I bought some different kind of worms. Chompers shakey worms, regular powerbait shakey worms, some slim trick sticks, some trick worms from Zoom.... What ones work the best for this rig in your opinions?
  4. Look to the good Lord for your strength Sam. Losing loved ones is never easy nor should it be. I pray that God will touch you and your family through this tough time.

Anyone ever do business with them? Placed an order for some shakey worms, shakeyhead jigs, tubes, and some tube heads. I shot LBH a PM wondering if this was one of the tackleshops that he goes to. Sounds like they have great service and fast shipping but I'm wondering if anyone has tried there above products. They have some nice looking products.
  6. I was looking for the fading watermelon and the pumpkin with black and gold flake. Ton of success has been had with the black with blue flake senko so I hear ya on that color advice for an Ika. Looks like GYCB may be the way. I guess I will hit there clearance bin while I'm at it.
  7. Thanks for the help but I want the real thing when it comes to the Ikas. Appreciate the direction though.
  8. Of coarse I could go through GYCB direct but shipping is nuts along with the prices. Brad doesn't have hardly anything in stock and none of the colors that I really want. Cabelas only sells the saltwater version with crazy colors. My local dicks only carries Green Pumpkin with black flakes which I picked up. Are there any other online stores that carry a nice selection of them? I know *** does but again there is a color or two that are on backorder there. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Just placed my order. If you love powerworms from Berkley now is the time to stock up. Shakey worms, 5" worms, 7" worms, and 10" worms. Along with the other "REGULAR" stuff, not the GULP brand. GULP is pretty good but for some reason the bass still love the original scent better for me. Remember to click on the BPS banner on this site so Bassresource can get some love. Than click on the BPS plastics sale banner to locate them.
  10. Looking at the new owner hooks that have the screw in pegs near the eye. Going to be using them pretty much for frogs and frogs only. What size should I grab for the Buzzfrog which are abour 3.25" long according to BassPro. I was thinking 3/0. PS: Don't worry Brent I will be getting some of your toads as well. ;D
  11. Try throwing a 7" Berkley Power worm Tex-posed. You will be suprised at the outcome. All my big smallmouth come on those worms in motoroil color or black.
  12. This spiderman pole was 2ft long if that lol. Just unreal.
  13. May just give them a whirl. I'm experimenting with different hooks as of late. Like the Gammies a lot. Haven't had much trouble with them at all. My Z-bend EWG Owner Hooks in 4/0 and 5/0 just arrived yesterday. Man are those some big ole hooks. Definately will work well on my tubes and Fatboys.
  14. Thanks guys. I guess I will give my bass jigs a try. Haven't used them much this year but when I have, I pulled out a couple nice 18 inchers. They were both in less than 5 foot of water though.
  15. Are you swimming your jigs or bouncing them off the bottom. I have a good amount of jigs and I do also have some tubes from YUM and Berkley. I believe I have the 1/4 tube jigheads to go with them. Thanks guys. I have to learn to be more universal I guess you could say when fishing plastics.
  16. My wifes cousion is a big ole goofball. Love being around him. Always doing some crazy thing that comes to his mind. He is 17 years old. The other day he picked up one of those little 2 foot spider man poles at walmart. He took it out to a pond in back of his house. Ended up catching a nice blue gill on a worm. Than he got this bright idea to see how far he could cast the blue-gill with his "little rod". He tossed that blue gill out into the middle of the pond and started to reel. A big ole bass grabbed on and he dragged the thing all the way to the shallows where it then let go. Just the other day he then bought a 1/2 ounce spinnerbait lol and put it on. Ended up catching a nice 19" LMB with the spider man pole and the spinnerbait that obviously was way to heavy for the rod. How he did not snap that little pole with that fish and spinnerbait I don't know. Meanwhile I have been struggling to get a nice size LMB for the past week. Go figure. Kind of made me mad that he was just screwing around and ended up getting a nice fish lol. Dumb luck I guess. ;D I just give him credit to be able to work that 1/2 ounce spinnerbait on that tiny rod and reel.
  17. I guess I just am so used to fishing plastics weightless that I never gave it a thought to fish them in the open deep. Time to put them bullet sinkers to use I guess.
  18. There is a small lake that I go too. The outer rims are pretty much full of weeds and such. Been hitting the weed beds for the past couple of weeks and pulling out some LM but nothing of size. In the middle of the lake (almost like a big pond) it hits around 25 feet or so. Some of it is open water with no weeds. I have a feeling that there may be a few big boys down there with the water being low on the rims and the heat of the day. What should I run down there when I take my raft out? Thinking of tossing a spinnerbait down there or maybe even an X-rap. The only crank type bait that I have is a silver rattletrap and a fire tiger rattletrap. I'm mostly a plastics fisherman so any advice would be great! On a sidenote: I did catch my first non-plastics fish of the year on a spinnerbait at another lake near the shore. Man that felt good as I have had no confidence at all on the spinnerbaits. I was pretty siked. Felt good to catch a nice LM on something besides a tube or worm.
  19. You might be suprised. I inflate my small boat in a matter of minutes. Enjoy. I am however looking into getting a small bass prowler next year.
  20. Yep this was posted a week or so ago. I bit on it because none of my local stores had them for 80 bucks or less. Was going to get one anyway so I jumped on it. Mine came in last week and now I'm just waiting for my new reel. The rod is nice though. Better than anything I have owned before.
  21. Personally I wouldn't waste my time. If your going to try something..........try a different plastic bait that you haven't worked with before. My fishing time is too precious to be messing around with candy lol. ;D :
  22. 7" Berkley power worms black/char tail 7" Gulp Shakey worm watermeleon on a 3/16th giggy head 5" Black/blue flake senko worked as well, but not as good as the two above. I'm sure like others have said........a trick worm would work wonders. But at the time I only had the bubblegum color and so I didn't think to try it in the creek. But just like a shakey worm so I think it would do well.
  23. Yeah re-reading it, it did come off a bit "wrong". Thats why I started with me saying that I respect them. I don't think the DEC stocks bass in there either. Just brownies I believe.
  24. Thanks guys. Putting my trust in the drag then. ;D

Walmart carries there brand of hooks too for really cheap. IMO you get what you pay for in this instance. Probably best if you spend your money on something else.
