  1. Thanks for the tip RW. I'll give it whirl.
  2. I wouldn't doubt it. They love crayfish. Never tried it though.
  3. I think u want to stay away from hybrids or floro on a topwater rod the lines sink u want a line that floats for topwater,A lot easier to do what ever ur doing walk the dog /poppping/ or reeling Yeah I know that most hybrids and basically all fluoros sink......BUT RW has said in numerious threads that Hybrid Ultra Soft actually floats, it does not sink. Going to take his word on it. If he is wrong (which I doubt) than I will just go back to using Berkley Trilene XL for my upper water needs. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1188959313/3#3
  4. Having some great success on * flukes. Also Zoom baby super flukes in a ice color as well. Just jerking them parallel to the weed beds has been very good as far as numbers go. Tempted to try out the Gulp! Alive! Minnows. But 20 bucks for a bucket is pretty darn steep for imitations. Anyone use the stuff yet?
  5. Still trying it out. Not getting the action that I really want out of it. Trying different weights and styles.
  6. Yep they and *.com are my favorite so far. Waiting for a toad and big worm order from 152ndstreetbaits. Had problems getting my order out on time but is including a lot of extras for my wait. Let you know how there baits perform. Customer Service and communication have been good so far. Richard is his name. http://www.152ndstreetbaits.com/
  7. I'll T-rig a senko and it work it like a finesse worm on or near the surface. Looks almost like an injured baitfish. Got some nice LM working this technique right before dark.
  8. Amen.....I miss my smallies. Nothing like fighting a nice 18" smallie in rapids.
  9. Depending on how far from the NY state line you are you will have to come try out Catt Creek (about 30 miles south of Buffalo and about an hour from the state line). We have some nice smallies up here. Not just in Erie but any of the creeks that dump into Erie will produce some nice smallies. Looks like a fun trip.
  10. I definately recommend the Pflueger Trion ultra light model. Small.....very light....and very durable. Teamed it up with a BPS Ultralight glass rod. Which is okay for the price at 19.99. I know my wife loves the rod as she has pulled in some nice bass with it. Sensitivity is pretty good but maybe someone can give you a better recommendation for a rod. But the Trion GX is definately a thumbs up from me. But if your not going to be using it a lot than I would recommend the BPS ultralight glass rod. For catching bream and brook trout this application has done what I need it to do. Not a big ultralight fisherman myself so I'm not going to spend a ton of money on high end ultralight gear.
  11. I'm planning on using it for my shakey heads and bottom plastics. Than I'm going to use Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft for my topwater/weightless/spinnerbaits. But to answer your question....no I have not used the product. I have Seguar Invizx but IMO it has too much stretch for a fluoro. Hopefully KVD is correct with it being a pretty low stretch fluoro. The dude gets the line for free so who knows lol.
  12. The tail doesn't float as well but I did get my PB smallie on this setup this year.
  13. Tough one between the Texas Rig weightless and the Wacky Rig. Both have produced nice fish for me this year. I'm not a big carolina rig fan and I have done a bit of shakey heading this year with my PB smallie caught on it. This probably would be one of my favorites as well but there are only a few places where I can fish it. I have very grassy bottoms on the few places that I fish. So I use it on sandy and rocky bottoms only.
  14. I have my best luck on nightcrawlers rigged natural on a split shot rig.
  15. Yep already have some roboworms that I picked up from dicks earlier this year. Going to try all these out on the wiggle rig as well.
  16. Yep grabbing up some watermeleon ones and the smoke shad I think is the other color (white/grayish).
  17. Anyone ever give these a try? Going to be doing some dropshotting on the Catt Creek for the first time come next April for the smallies and these things look like they could match the hatch very well in the natural colors for the drop shot in the Catt. Creek. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44686_100007001_100000000_100007000_100-7-1
  18. Fellow WNYer right here man. Gowanda area. Whats been working for me is the baby flukes, spinnerbaits bumped off of stuff, 5" trick sticks, and in the ponds.....suprisingly a 3" trick stick (at least for my wife and son). What lake ya fishing man?
  19. Ugh I really don't care for them at all. Too unrealistic if you ask me. My son loves them though. Deer Hunter is an awesome game. NOw thats a realistic sporting game. Just wish I could find the same quality in a fishing game. From what I hear...Pro Bass Fishing 2003 may be the closest I can get.
  20. Not sure where this topic belongs. But there are a ton of junk fishing games out there. Haven't played them all. But with the winter season approaching fast I need some sort of fishing to keep me busy when the snow is flying. Any thoughts on anyone that uses there PC to play fishing games that don't stink? I have Rapala fishing but that is horrible. I want something that uses plastics and such.
  21. When I hooked live frogs we just hooked them up on the roof of there mouth just past the lips. They stayed alive for a long time. Caught some nice bass off of them but they are a pain to handle in the water if you keep them alive. Haven't done this since I was a teen though.
  22. Heck with that lol. I had one and used it. Looked great in the water but around my 10th cast I snagged a tree on the windup of my cast (don't ask) and the frog snapped off and sailed a good 80 feet into the water. I didn't have my raft with me so there was no retrieving it. I know its not the frogs fault but I feel that the good Lord doesn't want me spending 7 bucks on a frog lol. It's a sign. ;D
  23. Crap......guess I'm going to have to cave in.
  24. What colors do you recommend for the Cane toads? I have the bullfrog color in the Zoom horny toad currently.
  25. It depends on the spot. There are places were there isn't even a ripple and than there are places where you get in the whitewater and everything in between. Its pretty neat actually to have all these different situations on one fishing creek. I catch smallies in all of those situations. Probably mostly going to be fishing shakey heads in the calmer parts. Seems like the smallies like the look of something digging into the gravel. Most of my luck in the rapids as weird as it may seem has been power worms 7" weightless. Tossing them upstream in the rapids and letting them float down as been a "big" smallie producers for me. Like I said though.........wanting to get as many techniques down as possible. I don't want to get stunk on just one or two presentations. If you look in my avatar picture.......this is the creek that I fish. That spot behind me is a big smallie spot. Up a bit is where the rapids are.........they then dump out into this calmer part of the creek. The creek is made up of different kinds of rock beds and shale. They love it.
