  1. Finally some agreement from members on here lol. Going with this model and its final! ha ha ha ha ;D
  2. Okay so MH has nothing to do with a firm tip then? A firm tip would be XF? Man so much stuff to juggle around in my head. I keep going back and forth in what I want. But the rod that you have pointed out is one that I was looking at last night in the catalog. So an extra fast tip means that you can set the hook easier and faster correct? Talk about information overload. I remember the days of fishing when I was 16 and not getting all technical. I still pulled in big fish and didn't have a care in the world. Sometimes I wish I could get back to that thinking. ;D
  3. I was going to go with the 8 but RW pointed out that the breaking point on the 6 and 8 for the Yo-zuri is very very close and the #6 has a smaller diameter. So I'm going with the #6. I like to go as thin as possible and there are no huge 12lb monsters that I have heard of coming out of WNY waters. You hit 7lb around here and you have a massive fish.
  4. Don't be suprised. Kids want more than just TV and garbage. They are looking for quality time spent with them. Keep it up Red. Your doing a great thing.
  5. Thanks RW. Sorry to sound like an annoying child. I'm on a limited budget and I just want to make sure that I'm fishing my plastics the best way possible. Ya know? Love my plastics more than anything. ;D
  6. Okay going to get an avid. Now I'm a huge PLASTICS man. Who also likes to fish bass jigs. On a spinning reel and rod. I have been doing my research on here and I want to make sure I get this right since spending the money on one from Reeds. I want the 6'6" or 7' style. But I'm going to want the MH power with fast action correct? I saw something about the tip needing to be firm. Does that have to do with the MH compared to the M? The line weight says 8 minimum but I want to use the Yo-zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6. Will this be okay? As soon as RW responds lol I will place my order. Thanks. ;D http://www.reedssports.com/Product.taf?_function=detail&_ID=4177 Looking at this one. Thoughts? Remember I like to wacky rig stick baits, use 7" power worms from Berkley, and some rapalas. 1/2 ounce bass jigs, some tubes, and t-riggin some worms. Thanks for the help!
  7. I agree 100%. Taking my eight year old out can be a chore sometimes. Especially if he isn't getting any bites. So he will start catching bullfrogs with slim senkos and he has a blast. At first I was getting angry lol but than I remembered that its what he wants to do to make his trip fun. So I fished for some LM and he caught bullfrogs. Lesson is...........let them do what they want to do on an outing as long as its not harming themselves, yourself, or the wildlife around them. Be positive!!! Because I'm sure there was not a lot of positive praise coming from a useless home. :'(
  8. Thats probably why I have good success with it with no problems at all. I do a ton of finesse fishing.
  9. I agree. I fish all my senko style baits wacky rigged with a circle hook and its just awesome. The fish basically hook themselves so you don't need a huge hook set and the action at both of the tips of the senko bait just excites the fish. I hardly ever T-rig my senko style baits. Oh yeah.......one more word to the wise. If you like Senkos. Don't waste your money on them. Order from Brent at *.com The Senko and his trick sticks weigh pretty much the same. I can't tell the difference by just holding them in my hand. Also I think Brent has a better scent on his along with the salt. Best of all???? The price. Go check them out and if you order from him, give him your Bassresource name and you will help the site out along with getting some "extras" in your order. Never again will I buy senkos. You save a ton with *.com and they have some great colors.
  10. Ah I can't wait until those smallies come back up from the lake this fall. Problem is the steelhead anglers get in the way lol. So it probably will be next spring before I get back to landing some monster smallies. Congrats guys! Smallies are a pleasure to land no matter the size. Try using some Berkley 7" power worms if you haven't already. They love em up in my neck of the woods. Not the Gulp but the original power worms. I like to use black ones with a char. colored tail. Happy fishing!
  11. Well I ended up going out yesterday like I planned. Didn't take the raft out though because there was a chance of a thunder storm. Very windy and rainy. The only one out there at this small lake was myself for good reason. It was nasty lol. Decided just to use some garden worms and a split shot rig. The trout weren't biting and that was a tad suprising but the panfish sure were. I caught a bass around 13" and about 50-60 gills and pumpkinseed (huge ones lol). Went through 30 of my garden worms and averaged at least 2-3 fish with them so thats how I came up with that number. But man the pumpkinseed that I was pulling out were HUGE. Definately my favorite of the bream. So pretty. Anyway I didn't land the brookies that I was going after and the water conditions were too wild to use my new sticks from Brent but man did I have fun fighting those little guys for a couple of hours while getting drenched. In the end thats all that matters. ;D
  12. Maybe I have been really lucky then. Because I am not a professional knot man lol. Thats a reason why I'm switching to Seguar because eventually I probably will have a failed knot and I don't want the big one on when that happens. (on my trout rod/reel anyway)
  13. I have a bladedancer too. Just screwing around with it off a dike at a small lake and a big ole brownie came to the surface after it. But the dancer was right on the surface and the brownie saw me and went back down. Haven't been able to get him or others to hit it since.
  14. ;D my thoughts exactly........
  15. what in my profile made you come to that [correct] conclusion? All bets on the age. When I was 15, I did what I wanted when I wanted. I never listened to any advice. Almost got me killed.
  16. I'm not addicted to stick baits but I am a huge plastic man. Really don't get into the cranks that much with the type of water that I'm fishing. Either troutworms, crawlers, or plastics for me. Should force myself to get out there and use other things. You know work on some other fishing skills. But I just love plastics and I'm good at fishing them in all different situations so why stop right?
  17. I live about 30 miles south of Buffalo near Lake Erie. There calling for rain all day long but no thundershowers. Been thinking about going fishing today for the past couple of days. So as long as the lightning doesn't come out to play, I will be taking my raft out with the trout worms out on my small lake.
  18. Going to be using it in all open areas for the most part. I have used my 6'6" rod for most of the year in some tight quarters and did just fine. The nice thing will be taking it on my raft. Having the 5'6" compared to the 6'6" , life will be good sneaking up on them trout on the open water of the small lake that I fish.
  19. I'm not in love with the stuff but I was very impressed with pulling that big bass in with a gob of weeds all over his body. Thought the line might snap but it never gave. Was shocked to say the least. So if thats the case than your right........I will be in heaven.
  20. that depends who ties it.i tie a palomar with seguar invizx and cinch it down in my mouth so it is real wet.i have not had a single knot failure using this combo. I do the same with the Vanish 4lb and have never had any problems at all. I tie a palomar for most everything.
  21. I too have had good luck with 4lb Vanish this year on my reel. Never had any breakage this year at all and I fished it in some heavy stuff because I didn't feel like re-spooling. Pulled a 4 1/2 pounder out with it. I have no complaints with the stuff. But I'm going to try the Segaur Invizx to see what the fuss is about around it.
  22. Yeah I know. I thought the special was for the 1lb spools only. I'll take a look again. Been a long week for me. My thinking cap isn't on.
  23. Wacky rig them on some circle hooks and just let them do there thing. The two biggest fish of the year came on a white/black laminate Wave Worm and a Black/blue flake Senko. Both 5" long. Jigs work great as well but so far the fish in my area have been hammering stick backs wacky rigged. They can't resist that small "flutter". Can't wait to try out * trick sticks when they come in.
  24. It's a 6 pack and they cost $ 4.85 Your kidding me? Talk about a rip.
  25. Please don't take this the wrong way but sometimes you should really listen to the advice given by other fisherman. The strain that you put on that rod could cause damage in the future. Why take the chance? Just throw out what you usually throw out until you get enough money for a heavier rated rod. Don't be dumb. And I agree with Daniel..........next time out try and find the owner of that thing. The Good Lord will look favorably upon you. If not than you may just get skunked for a long time. ;D
