  2. Can't think of any of MY mistakes, but I took a couple friends bass fishing and one brought a can of corn to "CHUM" the water. The other kept putting powerbait on the crankbait I let him use. he never caught anything on it, but did catch one on a sausage McMuffin on a Gammy 3/0 EWG. These two are a riot to fish with.... they have ALOT to learn.
  3. I have to 704CB from powell. I mainly throw DD22's on it. Doesn't seem to overload the rod too badly. I also throw x-raps and DT4-12 everyonce in awhile.
  4. I was talking to a local pro in the area, and he swears by the R2S Nest Raider. It's like a salamander and he says it always gets the bedfish angry.
  5. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes you can throw at her all day. But there aint nothing cooler than working a large female for hours and hours and finally watch her get hooked up. Keep at it, you'll figure it out.
  6. Lane, Thank you so much for taking the time to inform us on the situation. We've all hear rumors about certain things, but now we have the facts straght. Hopefully things wont get worse before they get better. Thank's again.!!!!
  7. Thanks guys... yea, I had a couple buddies who busted my chops for going "trout" fishing, but it wasn't about fishing at all. PondHopper wrote this in his thread about his dad Couldn't agree with it more!!!!! The look on her face when she caught her fish is priceless. Hate to say it, but one day, memories like this is all i'm going to have... might as well keep making memories like this to hold onto. Enough of this mushy talk :'(.... FISH ON!!!!! ;D
  8. Ahmen to that!!!! Nice fish. Something to be proud of and a memory that both of you will hold onto. Nice story as well!!!!!
  9. Every year since I can remember, my dad and I take my grandma out for mothers day for a day of trout fishing. Nothing big was caught, but we caught 20 total and kept 10. We should have caught more, but at my grandma's age, her reflex's aren't as quick as they used to be, so after the trout played with her hook, ate her worm, and digested it, she would finally set the hook, but would miss it. She probably missed more fish then we kept. All and all, it was a great day, a memory i'll never forget. Oh, and found a new sleeper lake ;D. Saw a few 4+ smallies and a couple big largies over 5. Hopefully i'll be able to hit it soon.
  10. That fish has great color.... Congrats on the new PB. I'd say 7 is a good bet.
  11. +1 Guilty as charged
  12. Huh.... little 5lber. Nice DD's man!!!!!!
  13. +1. I"m a firm believer in this.
  14. Can you ship some of these blue crabs to cali please... i'll even pay for the express shipping. It is getting way bad. I went to a lake up in the mountains yesterday, and they did a quick check for zebra mussels. This lake is nestled in a small community, doesn't get much pressure, but they are going into action as well. Does anybody know if they are coming up with some sort of "posion" to kill these things????
  15. Gotta love those farm ponds!!!
  16. Everytime my women threatens to destroy my fishing stuff, I tell her all my rods are like that. ;D She doesn't know any better and beleives me .
  17. Now your hooked. Pretty good for your first time. Congrats.
  18. Drilling a hole through a $250 rod just doesn't seem right. I'd rather just b*tch about it. I'll have to invest in something. I did that with my okuma when the hook hanger broke. It works like a charm.
  19. With a real aggressive male, running "anything" through the nest like that really makes them angry. I've never done it with a CB before, but that sounds like a real legit pattern to me. You caught the fish right???
  20. I can't get enough of your avatar. Makes me laugh everytime I see it. Thanks....
  21. LOL, First time tubing I was fishing for brook trout on a shallow natural lake I came upon a shallow hump in the middle of the lake that had tons of weeds growing up. Didn't see it and some weeds got caught up around my feet. I was definately ready to s**t my pants. you do get used to it though. I only tube in the small ponds/lakes where I can't take my boat. It is safe.
  22. Sowbelly, the obsessive quest for the world record bass. I hate reading books, but have really enjoyed reading this one and it has made me want to find some other fishing books to read. I definately recommend it!!!
  23. I went with one of the cabelas vests. It is super comfortable and can wear it all day if I had too.... just don't leave it sitting in your boat during a rain storm.
