XPS cranks
I got one for free, hated it. Didn't run straight, not a big deal, just adjusted it. But the hook quality is horrible. Had it bend on a 2.5# fish!!!! Wouldn't buy one. JMO.

Tips on Throwing a Mattlures Baby Bass?
Welcome to swimbaiting!!!!! Your next trip out leave everything but your swimbaits and swimbait gear at home. That way it will force to you to throw swimbaits. It takes a lot of time and dedication. Good luck

Favorite Soft Plastic Swimbait Under 9.99?
3:16 Mighty Minnow. Not many good swimbaits under 10. Up your limit to 15-20 and you'll expand your choice of "Good Swimbaits" by a lot.

this changes everything! a stunning field test.
Another side note about loosing swimbaits - I don't know about the rest of you guys, but in my 1 1/2 - 2 years swimbaiting, i've lost one 8" hudd. It wasn't from getting stuck in rocks, or a tree, etc, but from a stupid mistake of not checking for knicks in the line. Luckily I found it after the water dropped a bit a month or two later. It seems to me that when fishing with non-swimbaits, I tend to loose $10-$15 a trip. A pack of worms, maybe a jig or two, a couple hooks here and there, some weights, maybe a rattle or two. If you think about it, it can really add up. When fishing the big baits, your obviously using heavier, more stout equipment, thus giving you an advantage over regular tackle to getting unstuck. Even when your stuck, it seems to me that the bigger bait, and bigger hooks have a harder time getting stuck enough to the point you won't get them back. Those 8" baits have so much leverage to them, I find it easy sometimes to get them out of rocks if you just change your angle a bit. Even if it comes down to it, they invented bait knockers for a reason. You should never leave for the lake without one or two. They are cheap as well. On the list of "Things not to forget on a fishing trip", I would put a bait knocker right under a scale and camera. Especially for the big bait guys... it's a no brainer. But for those who are willing to shell out the $$$$, the rewards are without a doubt worth every penny. Oh and paul, thanks for the great reviews. You did a awesome job. Matt, great looking bait, can't wait to get my hands on one and stick some toads.

5 hour energy
It's all about the Redline. I company called VPX makes it. It's harder to find than your normal energy drink, and much more potent. I use these for the "Instance" because my body became immune to normal energy drinks. This is the type of energy drink you don't want to abuse. I personally now 2 friends that abused it and had to go to the hospital (Gamers that used it for a sleep alternative during a LAN party). Heart started racing and wouldn't stop. Serious stuff, but it works great, and there is no "crashing" after it wears off. It is more expensive then the normal energy drink. $4 for 8 oz

Non-fishing hobbies??
Dirt bike riding - Actually was my main hobby before fishing, bike broke and was gonna cost $700, so I decided to get into fishing because I thought it would be cheaper. Video Games Camping Rock Climbing 4-Wheeling The newest edition to my hobby list is going to bingo halls. Laugh all you want guys, but if you go on the right nights, it's the PERFECT untapped resource for the single guy (*** that 4-bizz), go on the wrong nights and everyone in there looks like your grandparents. Haven't won much money, just phone numbers ;D . For all the single guys, give it a try!!!

Monster Wake Baits
This is so true. It finally dawned on me yesterday. Don't get me wrong, it catches tons of fish, but in the water it just seems so small. I really wish mickey didn't disco the bigger "Wake Bait". No matter what, it's still the best $70 I've spent on a bait.

Amazing High Country Trip w/ Branuss
"Epic Trip" hardly describes this trip guys. One thing jay forgot to mention was that we were above 7,000 feet in elevation. I live a a comfortable 500 feet elev. and he lives around 1,500 feet elev. So neither of us were in shape, yet alone ready for the thin air. Personally after jumping the first fence and going 50 yards, my legs were burning and I could hardly breathe. Dry heaving was a regular occurrence on every break along with debating whether the bikes were a good idea. Like Jay said, apart from the fishing, it was such a great experience. But with a trip like this, the satisfaction that comes from hiking/biking some god awful 4 miles into some remote lake with 35# sacks on your back, is WAY better than a lake off of the side of the road. It just feels like we accomplished something. It was a great trip, even with our 7 hour triathlon (Biking, Hiking, float tubing). Definably one of jays better "Sight Seeing Adventures"

Swimbait setup
There are thousands of baits that get classified into the "Swimbait" Category. What do you plan to throw? Are you talking 6" Mission fish, 8"hudds, 3:16 Armageddon, 4" sassy shads???? Let us know what you plan on throwing and we can give you insight on what to throw it on. If you plan on throwing baits upwards of 2oz you should get a swimbait stick. Okuma makes a good rod for $99. It seems like most big baiters start with this rod, I did, and know some of my buddy's did as well. Can't help you with the reel, don't know much about Abu's. But the Shimano Cardiff 300 and 400 are good reels at $100 bucks as well. If your throwing smaller baits, a good flippin stick will do the job, you don't really need a "Swimbait Rod" to throw baits under 2oz. MH to Heavy rated rod should do the trick.

Can anyone identify the maker of this swimbait?
I got screwed as well, bought one, threw it once and there it sits in my tackle box. Just like jay sayed, it plain SUCKS!!!! I think every swimbaiter has got to go through the "Buying Crap" stage until they finally realize that it isn't worth the few extra bucks saving. Luckily jay talked me out of most of the crap. Luckily for me matt, it didn't stop me from buying the real thing. After buying this is when it finally hit me NOT to buy knockoffs.
-
what the most you've spent on one single lure?
$110 :-? I bought it as a present for myself after me and my girlfriend broke up. She wouldn't let me buy it when we were together, so I figured i'd treat myself after the fact!!!
