  1. Good for you... i'm glad to hear your up and running. I feel your pain, I have no e brake on my 5 speed truck and on steep hills it will start rolling. Enjoy the boat. Brandon
  2. Dont mean to steal your thread, but do you think i'd be ok if I have a built in breaker in my battery box?
  3. Just going through DG's rods for sale and found this. http://www.rod-crafting.com/spiral.html. I've never seen a rod in the bait shops like this before. Is it more common for custom rod's? Does anyone use guides like this and what are your opinions? Thanks Brandon
  4. Nice fish and thanks for putting it back. I'd say low fours. Brandon
  5. Have only had one lip break off. But it was my fault, I cracked the lip by throwing it into rocks and later that day the lip broke completely. Brandon
  6. Second that. Already have a couple one's on order
  7. Don't like it.... Don't care much for the books, don't care much for the test products. Most expesive thing I've every gotten was 3.99 weights. Don't really care for the mag as well. Kind of a waste of money in my opinion.
  8. I lost my two LC's. Looks like i'll have to fill the holes with some normans'
  9. I have started using them. Caught my PB and most of my big fish on SB's. I wouldn't call myself experienced at all, I have very limited experience with them, but I do have comfidence in a couple. I haven't started throwing the bigger one's too much, I mainly stick to some smaller swimbaits that my rod can handle and my wallet can afford. I was fishing a local pond one day that I always caught fish on. Went 4 hours without anything, and decided to throw a small SB that bizzle gave me that had been sitting in my box unused for months. second cast i got slammed. Caught a half dozen or so in the next couple hours. Long story short, give it a try. Good luck. Brandon
  10. Tell me something i don't know.... j/k buddy. Well a wise lanky white guy once told me, go with rapala DT series, you can't go wrong.... he was right, until I broke down and bought some LC's. Bought two, a DR, and a D20, and lost both. Liked them better than rapala's, just not the price. went with spring craw for 6-12 and american shad for deep. I took the D20 to the middle of the Applegate pond with the tube and knocked them dead in mid-august (Super clear water). I got it stuck around 16 feet down or so, and could see it, so i thought hey, it's 105 out, it's a $17 lure, why not try to get it.... boy was I wrong, After two uncesseful attempts of diving down, i decided that I didn't like the feeling of my head being crushed by the pressure. But I recommend the LC's, there on my wish list again.
  11. only $30... go get yourself a new setup. Now if it were a more expensive setup, I would take the time to fix it. Just my .02
  12. I just purchased my first powell. Thanks jay. 704 CB. Had it out twice so far and I don't have anything negative to say. Love how light it is and how well It handles fish. It's only a medium, but I was able to pull a 3# out of some fairly thick stuff. Got mine local at Sportsmans Warehouse as well.
  13. I don't know where you will be using it at, but I believe that some lakes around my neck of the woods have banned 2 strokes altogether. Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake I believe are two.
  14. I put new carpet on my boat and I used stuff from west marine. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/27614/377%20710/0/Carpet%20Glue/Primary%20Search/mode%20matchallpartial/0/0?N=377%20710&Ne=0&Ntt=Carpet%20Glue&Ntk=Primary%20Search&Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&Nao=0&Ns=0&keyword=Carpet%20Glue&isLTokenURL=true&storeNum=null&subdeptNum=null&classNum=null Here's a link. I had no problems with this stuff. Good luck
  15. I'd go with two batteries as well. Also just a little side note, keep your reciept for your batteries at wal-mart. They have an 18 month warranty. Every year, just take it back with your receipt and tell them it doesn't hold a charge, they'll give you a brand new one for free. That way you can start every year with a fresh battery.
  16. Take it to a mechanic. I bought a boat from a buddy and spent 5 months getting it "Fishable" took it out for the first time and two hours later, the carb was pouring out gas, I got water in my lower unit, and it was not spitting out water. Took it to a mechanic, needed a carb rebuild, lower unit seal and a new impeller, plus I got it tuned up and some other new parts for 500. It was the best $500 spent since i'm not a mechanic. Plus you kinda need something reliable. Good luck.
  17. I'm gonna have to go with everyone else on this one, 3.5 would be a safe bet
  18. A majority of my lipless fish have been on the fall.... come to think of it, a lot of fish I catch come on the fall with any lure I use.

We were up in alaska fishing for halibut and salmon. The guides were spraying it in the bait, they said it was a smell enhancment and put out a better scent trail. But come to find out from many other sources, it is illegal to do so.... at least in that neck of the woods.
  20. Thanks for the the info you guys!!
  21. I was looking at rods and was wondering what the pro's and con's are to Glass Rods. Thanks. P.S. I was looking at Powell Rods
  22. I spent the first year or so of bass fishing, fishing ponds. One thing I try to do if you can is if the water is clear, try to get to the highest point around the pond and study the features of the pond. it's a little easier to define detail in the pond from a little higher view point. if they are man made ponds, look for the original creek bed. I find a lot of bass cruzing these. Also, some ponds I fished had massive rocks that re-inforced the dam, or the side of the pond. these rocks went all the way to the bottom and provided cover for bass. Just another few things to think about. Good luck
  23. It's like a match made in heaven. Nice score on ebay. Gotta love it
  24. So I'm sitting here, very depressed, when I should be shining with joy. UPS just came by and dropped of my new curado I've been waiting for for weeks (New $125, ebay!!). But what good is a new reel without a new rod to lay it on, that's just common sense right?. This is where I reach my dilema. I don't want it to lose it's fishing "virginity" to just any old rod in my garage, that would be crule. I wan't it to be treated to a nice new shiny Powell 704 CB....... the one that I can't afford right now. So now it must sit and wait up on the shelf..... staring at me day and night, begging me to buy a new rod to lay it on. This my friends, is the WORST feeling ever.
  25. I have a reel with 50# sufix on it. I love it, Super strong and sensitive. I use it mainly when fishing at night with big plastics. Highly recommended
