  1. I use suffix. The only time I use it without a leader is when i'm night fishing, or in heavy cover, basically when i'm not worried about fish seeing it. I have been satisfied with suffix (50#) and have had no complaints. I've been using the same spool for 4-5 months now and it is just now starting to loose it's color.
  2. Ok true, I wouldn't call anybody at this shop professional, but you know what I mean.
  3. Sorry, Flouro/Nylon. So is Flouro the line that doesn't do good in cold water? It was professionally spooled on, so I can't blame that.
  4. Well I bought some Yo-Zuri Hybrid (6#) to put on a spinning outfit. And the first trip out with it was a trout fishing trip. Now i've used flouro a lot before (Never Yo-Zuri) and have never had any problems with line twist, backlash, etc. But I have always used it in warmer waters, 60 and above. Well me and my dad were fishing in the high mountains up around 7000 feet and the water temp was in the mid to low 50's. All weekend we were have line trouble. We had major line twist, 3 peices of line coming off the spool at once, and some backlash that I would expect from a baitcaster. Now I am trying to figure the source of the problem. I slightly remember reading something about different types of line's in colder water and how one type was not recommended for cold water, is it flouro that doesn't do well. Or could it have been a bad spool. Anywho, it didn't really ruin the trip, between the two in a day and a half fishing we caught well over 50 fish. Lots of pretty brookies in spawn. Anyone have similar problems?
  5. Cali and Alaska (The trip came with a year license)
  6. +1... the feeling sucks
  7. I hate to admit it (And will never admit this to my g/f), but I do enjoy buying/shopping for fishing stuff a little more than I do using it. This is probably because I am semi new to bass fishing, and there is so much stuff I do not have.... YET
  8. I'm kinda torn on this one. So here is my opinion: If i'm fishing a body of water that I fish frequently and have caught many fish there before, I would rather catch one big fish all day. But if i'm fishing new water or water I have only fished rarely, i would rather catch more fish to build confidence.
  9. Here in Cali it's 37.30 for a resident tag. Don't know what our non resident is?
  10. I just bought the Powell 704 CB and have just started to deep crank with it. It's super light and sensative and with DD22's, it works great. I don't have any complaints with it so far. and for 169.99, you still got 30 bucks to blow on cranks.
  11. Ours likes to hire a bunch of idiots in the fishing department. I know more about fishing than 80% of them and i've learned most everything from fourbizzle (and that's not saying much... jk buddy). But seriously, i just went in their today and was getting some line. I was listening to an employee try to tell a customer the difference between braid and mono. He told the poor guy that braid was awesome except that it stretches more than mono!!! After the employee left the customer I cleared things up a bit for him. I know that this is probably not the same for all SW, but it gets frustrating dealing with these idiots every week. Other than that, I got to agree that there selection isn't as good as the rest of the AMAZING pro shops we have out here, but for me it's 5 minutes away, so I can't complain too much. They do cary about 90% of the items I am looking for, and no matter what I go in there for, even if it's just for 1 thing, I'll end up spending an hour in there and come out with a lot more than 1 item. Brandon P.S. And they have some FINE looking girls workin there as well!!!!
  12. I just started using the DD22's and love them. I actually use them more at night, i've had more luck than the day time. I like to bounce them off of the bottom and other structure, this is where most of my strikes come from. Also using a stop and go retrieve works well as well. I think that for the price, they are a good deal, but they don't have a lot of color choices like other brands.
  13. That's pretty close to my rule of thumb as well
  14. We'll just start off to say that i'm a shimano guy. So when my dad wanted to get his first baitcaster, I decided I would buy him one (Since I owe him money). At the time I was a little straped for cash, so I found this real... it looked alright for the money, and for being BPS (Note: i'm not the biggest BPS brand fan, i've had bad experiences with their brand, and I am also not a fan of their shipping and customer support. That's just my experience, but i better not get going on that). Anyway I ordered this Tourney Special thinking it would be good for my dad's first one. I got it and paired it with a cabelas 7' MH rod. And boy was I blown away... I would have never expected for a 40 reel to.... well feel that good. The thing was a little heavier than my curado, but it cast like a dream and felt sturdy like a more expensive. I almost didn't want to give it to my dad, but we'll just say he was more than happy. So now i know if I ever need a cheap reel, i'll have to pick on of these up. I just wanted to share this with everybody incase you are in need of a good cheap reel. I just looked, it's on sale for 29.99 right now.
  15. I started using these a little while back. They come in a few sizes for different baits. I've seen ones made out of plastic, but they seem real cheap to me, I use the one's made from glass. They make better sound, but they tend to break more often. I stick them in all my plastics when i'm night fishing, except dropshots, I don't have any small enought to not tear the crap out of a skinny worm. Now I don't know any specifics on the subject, but from my experience, 90 of my night time fish have come from plastics, mostly drop shot and brush hogs. With the brush hogs, I have glass beads, and rattle tubes. But with drop shot, you got to remember that the drop shot weight will be clanking against the bottom as well, which will send off vibrations so the bass can zero in on the bait.
  16. I got some from cabelas. They are no loomis's, but for the money (Less than 30 bucks), they are a deal.
  17. I love the action of these... I use the chunks as jig trailers. and for 2 bucks at TW you can't beat them. IMO they don't hold up that well, usually the wing's get ripped off, but at only 2 bucks I can afford to buy LOTS of them!!!
  18. A buddy of mine has the Sega Bass fishing, but for playstation 2(I know... not PC), but for a game made back in the day, it's a really sweet game. I sat there for hours playing it. Decent graphics, good lure selection, etc. I heard it is hard to find though.
  19. Just bought one at walmart for 14 or 15 bucks. It's 6 LED's. 2 red, 2 white spot lights, and 2 white flood lights. I've messed around with it at night in the house, and like everythign about it so far. I'm gonna use it for real this weekend.
  20. +1. It also depends on what you want. Gear ratio, weight, size, etc. I would go with the citica. I love mine for all around fishing.
  21. +1. Went through 1 bag in a day.
  22. Do they actually do anything else????? Nice fish though!
  23. I just started fishing white worms. I actually use brents 3 and 4 inch *** in the pearl silver. Haven't fished them heavily, but have had luck with them after I get a follower with another bait, i'll throw this in wacky rigged and will get strikes.
  24. I just got my first boat as well.... welcome to the cool kids club. 1969 16ft Chrysler w /35 Horse Merc. Needed alot of work, but it's a bass fishing machine now!!
  25. I did and you weinered out! pantywaste! Except this weekend... or next weekend, chickenlips!
