  1. I gave up the soda a day thing too. Doesn't save me alot, but living on my own, every penny counts. I also put all my change I have in a can. I save for a year and then when the ISE comes to town in january, I take it to a coinstar and get some bills. Last year, with saving all coins, I had saved 350 bucks. Needless to say, I had fun at the sportsmans expo!!!
  2. I just used this lure for the first time the other day. I love them. Will definately be buying some more when the monkey come around.
  3. I had a hard time throwning down 45 bucks for the slammer. I just got mine and love it. Well worth it. I did a lot of looking around, and from what I saw, getting it straight from the Slammer website was the cheapest way to go. well worth it though.
  4. Be sure to do lots of research. Make sure the run is in full swing when you plan on going. I went to alaska, and didn't do to much research on when the best time for the runs were, anyway we ended up going right in the middle of the two big runs. Fishing wasn't great (We still ended up bringing close to 200 pounds of fillets back) but it could have been much better had we gone during the peak time. Just do your research. Especially being a college student, i'm sure you don't have a ton of money to blow, so you want this trip to be worth it. Have fun
  5. What a sweet thread... Here's a couple true ones for me... When you spend your girlfriends 20th birthday on the lake. On your 2 year anniversary, you make a trip to the bait shop to buy yourself an anniversary present that cost more than the one you bought your gf, before going out to dinner. After working from 3 in the morning till noon, your buddy calls up and wants to do a night trip. Your on the lake around 6 and fish till 8am the next day without sleep. Your buddy calls you up after work saying that the bite is on. It's mid january, 35 degrees out with a massive cold front moving in. All you have is your work clothes on, you stop by his house, pick up some gear, go to the lake. You fish for a few hours with 20 mph winds, and it starts snowing on you. Instead of calling it quits, you just head for the trees and keep fishing.
  6. +1... I only have one, but i plan on buying more!!!
  7. Alright guys, i'm looking at buying a dropshot rod. I just want to know from you guys what specs should I look for, length, action, etc. Thanks.
  8. I hear you on that man. Sounds identical to my wife. "The stare"... it's scary man. Haha. On the other hand she has days where she loves to go out and catch fish. For some reason she loves catfishing but prefers to do it at night. Dunno... somethin' bout night fishing with her I guess. But yep that, and when you get home from the store with a bag or two of baits and you bring your tackle box up to organize it, it's always "how much did you spend"? "Why do you have bags from TWO different stores"? And then when I lie about the price I get the stare again... and then it's "you spend 40-50 bucks on fishing a week... how much do you spend on me"? And I KNOW I spend more on her. Don't make me pull reciepts woman! HAHAHAHA, I think it's a good idea to keep receipts so I can shut her up when she tells me I spend more on fishing than I do on her. I think that's going to be my new years resolution.... keep all receipts. My new thing is to keep all items in the car after I buy them, then on my lunch, i'll come home and put them all in the tackle box when she's not there, then take out the trash (Gotta cover all loose ends)
  9. Shimano's Digital Camera Alaska trip with the old man $500 POS boat from jay Dancing Girls

I haven't used these personally, but my dad bought some and Whenever I run out of my owners, I will be buying these. I liked the looks of them
  11. +1... Except for the weight between glass and graphite. When I did all the research for my CB rod, I found that the statement is not true. Powell for instance, there glass rods are the same or lighter than the graphite of the same specs. Other than that I agree.
  12. Well Guys, you persuaded me into the H20. I am happy with my decision, I plan on getting the Hotspot card. They have many of the lakes I will be fishing. I put it on overnight delivery so I can have it for a waypoint outing to folsom lake on thursday (Just went there today and found somebody's boat that has been underwater for awhile. It's been dropping a couple feet every week) I'm going to have a hard time sleeping at night until it comes. Going by what everyone says, i made the right decision, Thanks guys.
  13. HAHAHAHA, my gf is definately not interested. About 2 years ago when I started fishing again, she started getting into it, she even spent 30 bucks on baits for herself. I took her out and tought her how to fish. After about a yeat she took a 180 degree turn and now hates it. She gives me the glare everytime I say i'm going out, or go and blow money on baits. But when I go out trolling for trout, i'll take her along so she can catch some rays. I have a buddy that has a gf who is pretty die-hard. I guess it can be a good thing and a bad thing.
  14. The first SB I ever tried was a 316 mighty minnow. It's a weedless soft bait that swims right under the surface. It's about 5in long and weight a little over an ounce. It's a great little bait that a buddy gave me. I let it sit in my box for 2 months, I was at a local pond and nothing that usually works was working, so I threw this on, and was catching them left and right. It may not be the best bait out there, but is easy to throw, cheap (4pk for 10 ish), and durable (even when they get destroyed, you can melt them back together). Anyway hope this helps, good luck.
  15. Just look at what you had to go through though, personally I'd say no. What if it happened again, your not going to deal with that lady again. And i'm sure you don't want to go through the same hassle. After my experience, I will only buy from them if there is no other bait/tackle shop anywhere that has the product I am looking for. Just my .02. I'm glad it worked out for you, now if only they could get more people like her working for the company.
  16. Alright guys, you are going to be my final decision on this. I've been looking around for a GPS lately, and have been leaning toward the Lowrance H20, I've heard many guys rave about this one. I like it's features for the price. I just worked 60 hours last week and beleive I need to spend some of the money on me. I found one online, new for 95. what do you think, should I go for it? I will mainly be using it for marking structure since the lake I fish alot is extremely low. Any other GPS's in the same price range that would compare to this one, or should I go for it. Thanks.
  17. +1. I would spend a few days reading all of the articles, and then come back and ask more specific questions you may have.
  18. Aint that the truth. Your definately in a tough situation. I guess all you can do right now is sit back and play the waiting game!!. Good luck.
  19. I always keep one of each. When I go to a body of water that I know has craw's, i'll use the craw scent. Let us know what they say the difference is.
  20. Customer Service is everything in retail, and it sounds like they are treating you badly. I'd stay away from them if I were you. I don't order anything from them anymore. I had a bad experience with them as well. I ordered one of there rod/reel combo's. I figured they would ship them together, or at least at the same time. I got the rod in 4 days, without the reel. I called them and they told me they shipped them out at the same time, but the rod (7' one piece) was shipped with the express (3 day shippping) and the reel with the standard shipping. Well long story short, I finally got the reel 25 days later. I know one loosing one customer won't hurt their business much, but I don't order from them unless it's my last resort
  21. I go with 12lb p-line CX. It has less memory than the CXX
  22. Go with RW's advice, I did when I bought my CB rod. I went with the Powell 704 CB. Med. Action. I love it
  23. No sleeping in, dreaming of pre-spawn for me. Here in cali we don't have to worry about ice, so it's year round fun for us.
