  1. Do you think the HEG gearing is a must have? I hear on other forums that it is almighty. I agree with reconchild that over a whole day of fishing, 2.4oz can make a huge difference. I have a citica 200 and after using the curado 100, I dred it. The weight and the size just feels akward. Well I think since I already have the citica 200, i'll just stick with the curado 100. Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it as always.
  2. +1. I too am on a tight budget being out on my own, and can't afford all of the goodies. I'm always asking 4-bizz before I get something new, becuase he has enough tackle to open a tackle shop. At first I thought this would save me money, but if you've ever seen the baits 4bizz uses, you know that I am actually running into debt everytime. So what I should tell you is don't ask someone who throws $250 baits. K.I.S.S - Don't overthink things. You don't need every color. Find those bargain baits that are good and cheap. As far as cranks go, I use norman's. Are they as good as LC's? No, but I can buy 4 Normans for the price of one LC. For 95% of my plastics I go with ***. Where else can you get 50 5in trick sticks for $10. For jigs i've been using Eakins jigs. I think it somewhere around 3 for $7-8. Again, they are probably not the best jigs out there, but they are easy on the wallet. But just remember, if you stick with the regular colors, you'll be fine.
  3. I throw my BBZ's with a cardiff 400, 25# line and a Okuma 7-6 heavy. It works like a charm and with only cost you around 200 for the setup.
  4. I don't think you count on this thread buddy, your girl is one of a kind!!
  5. When I bought my boat, it had some rottage going on where the screw holes were for the captains chair. I'll start off by saying there was no carpet on it, so I did not have that step to worry about. filled the 5 holes with a caulking that you would use for showers and such that was meant to get wet. I let it sit and settle for a couple days, then used a generous amount of waterproof marine sealant and topped off the holes. Then I got a peice of board (I think it was either 3/4 or 1" thick), and cut it so it would would be about 3 or 4 inches wider than the rottage. I carpeted the wood, then used some wood screws and screwed it into the deck. It worked for me with no problems yet.
  6. I'm going to stick with alot of stuff I started at the end of 07. -Dropshotting -Jigs -Swimbaits I also want to work on relying on my electronics more.
  7. +1. I bought 2 spools and gave both of them away as well(nothing against you RW). I've been looking for a good flouro though, I might have to give trilene a shot too.
  8. Just curious what kind of batteries can be hurt by vibrations and what kind can't???
  9. This is a question to all who have used either the 100 models, or the 200 models. I Own the 100 DSV and love everything about it. I like the size of it and being able to palm it. I plan on buying another before the rebate program ends. so my question is - Is it worth getting the 200 model over the 100 since the 200 has features like -Aluminum Handle Side Sideplate -PV Power Paddles -1/4 Turn Easy Access Sideplate -High Efficiency Gearing (HEG) -Magnumlite Spool (Which only the 100 DSV doesn't have) -the 2.4oz difference. So basically, is it worth the extra size to have those features, or should I just stick with what I know and like. I'll be throwing it with a 7' MH rod. Thanks
  10. 2008: LM - 8+ (It WILL happen, i'm not happy about where my pb was caught!) SM - 4+ Life: LM - A TEENER SM - 7+
  11. be sure you know how to climb I just can't get myself to spend $80 on a bait yet. As long as I don't fish with 4bizz, i seem to do alright!!
  12. Alright guys, I just got back from around town, as I was out, I saw a Stop light pole fall on a big rig. Had to dodge trash cans everywhere. Both stores I went into had old ladies in stretchers, i didin't ask, but i'm assuming that the wind blew them over. And l there was a .5 mile stetch of a lane that was closed becuase a row of 10 trees where all uprooted. It's just an absolute mess, but in the valley it is finally dieing off. The winds have subsided from hurricane force to a moderate breeze. I just talked to a friend who is having his honeymoon in tahoe. He has been up there since last sunday, and was supposed to leave tommorrow, but he said the winds have just picked up heavily and you can't hardly walk outside. I told him that he better be winning big up there because he will be staying and extra 3-4 days up there. We have 1.2 million PG&E customers out of power over here along with thousands and thousands of SMUD customers out. I'm lucky to have power i guess.
  13. IT"S HERE!!! I don't think i've been in winds like this before in cali. I live in the valley and am getting beat hard by the wind. I just watched a video of a semi trailer tip over from the wind. I'm looking outside and watching the rain fall horizantal. I had water coming through the front door that was coming from underneath my awning. It's a good one boys. Right now the sierra's are enjoying better weather than down here. But they are excpecting blizzard conditions in about 4 hours. They are looking at 10 FT of snow on the high peaks, and 100 MPH gusts. I'd hate to be up there!!! What makes me mad is i have 4 days off and its rain for all 4 days. I have the 2 new huds and 2 new JDM baits in my tackle box waiting to get used. There is no doubt about it that i'll go out this weekend, but i'm trying to decide wether I want to brave the 50 mph winds today, or the super low snow this weekend. Come to think of it, if I throw the huds with the wind, i'm sure to add a good 50 feet to my cast.... HMMMMM!!! as far as the "sierra cement", you really got to experience that. I was a newbie when i first experienced the cement, lets just say I would rather be fishing, while in blizzard conditions with my girlfriendstanding there nagging me in my ear. I think I would have got less hurt if i were to have fallen on actual cement. Another reason that we get the cement is because of the wetness of the snow. It's totally different then the powdery "Colorado" snow. Well the power is starting to flick so i'm gonna split. Wish me luck.
  14. HAHAHAHA!!! You might as well give up buddy. Stick with something your good at... like trouphy trout hunting ;D Nice fish!
  15. 4!?!?!?! You bait bait wh*re!!!
  16. Mike bat is right, for the money, matt lures is a good SB. It's a little over 10 bucks, but well worth the extra. Also the 3:16 mighty minnow is a fav of mine. I love using it in ponds. It's weedless and basically swims almost at the top.
  17. freetvonline.com is a good one too. They have ton's of TV shows as well. I have found that they have a fair share of dead links.
  18. I bought a falcon soft bag from cabelas as a secondary bag (I've finally outgrown my big BPS bag, never thought I would fill it when I first got it). Very durable and resonably priced.
  19. bipr8 - good advice on the rod tips, i've always just had one rod with me, but was planning on taking more this spring. Oscar - you'll have a blast. During the early spring, be sure to but layers on under your waders. I have insulated waders, but was fishing some high mountain lakes and was out on the water for 5 hours, the sun started going down, so i started heading in. Halfway back to shore, my right leg cramped up SOOO bad I was ready to cry. It was like nothing i've felt before, it was from toe's to thigh. Now try kicking back to shore with only one leg. But anyway, go have fun and knock them dead.
  20. Gotta love it. Should call it the "Bash on 4bizz" thread. Since I have to fish with him all the time, I'll go easy on him. I must say though, i'm suprised you weren't out in the snow fishing your duck eating bass pond. I'm dissipointed in you, your really softening up on my buddy. Hey, next saturday it looks like 5-6 ft of snow in the hills, let's go on another trouphy trout trip!!!
  21. I've always like the Normans, but found a Poe's and am starting to fall for them. The Normans are more in my price range also.
  22. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but how do you like using a MH rod for finesse fishing like this? I have a ML, but have always wondered how the MH do for drop shotting
  23. I prefer CX for the most part. I started out bass fishing with nothing but 12lb CX, caught my pb on it and still use it to this day. I have no cons with it. As far as the CXX, it like everyone else says, it got extreme memory and is thicker.
