  1. But they sent a monkey with it. So I told myself that I couldn't spend $80 on a swimbait, but since i'm getting so much back I figured i'd invest in a wake jr. Anybody have color recomendations or should I just buy 1 of each color so i'm ready for anything
  2. If I don't need it right away, i'll go with tackle warehouse or USACproshop, but if I need it right now, i'll usually head to Sportsmens warehouse which is 5 minutes from my house.
  3. I'm not a big fan of the "Waxy" feeling of some braids. Sufix doesn't feel as bad as most other braids. It's expensive at first, but if you think about it, $18 will last me all season. Pretty cheap if you look at it in the long run.
  4. It's pretty sweet, the clouds rolled out this afternoon so we could see it here in Northern Cali. I can see if while i'm sitting here on BR.
  5. Welcome aboard fellow Californian. Good to see some more cali guys. Get ready to be swamped in information!!!!
  6. I use mostly baitcast, but use spinning as well for most finesse tactics. Spinning: Drop Shot Small jigs (Around 1/2 oz) Small worms (Wacky rig, etc) Poppers Baitcast: Jigs (Above 3/8 oz) Most Topwater apps Swimbaits Cranks Larger Worms Spinnerbaits I know there is more, but for the most part that is it.
  7. During the sacramento ISE in january, i was able to ask a couple questions to guys like Bub Tosh, David Rush, Greg Gutierrez, Skeet Reese, and Gary Dobyns. I was able to ask them what are there confidence techniques. And for those techniques that you aren't confident in, when do you find time to work on it. During the tourney when the bite is hot, or on off days while fun fishing. Also How long do you spend in one spot without any action (i.e. try one bait all over, or try several baits all over.)
  8. I've always used the uni-uni, but just recently tried the modified alrbright and I like it so far. It is a little smaller, I don't know how strong it is, haven't caught any fish with it... yet.
  9. I haven't really used it too much. I paid 8 for mine at a flea market. I use a slower retreive for it. I got my strikes by bouncing it on the bottom around structure. I used 15#. Hopefully some guys that use it will give you some better info.
  10. Normal situation's when I use braid. 1. At Night 2. Heavy cover 3. Dropshoting (w/ floro leader) I use suffix braid 50# for 1 and 2. 20# for 3.
  11. I'll start off by saying i'm a complete novice when it comes to swimbaits. I've been fishing big baits for 4 months (I've only had 2 fish and 6 bites). Now then, I curse the day 4bizz got me into fishing. I love fishing, but if I new then how much money i spend now, I might have gotten into golf or something. But then I started thinking about it. If I didn't have 4 bizz sharing his knowledge and information with me, not only on swimbaits, but on fishing in general, i would of spent twice the amount of money on stuff that SUCKED. He kept me away from the lame baits, and pointed me in the right direction to baits that had potential. So for this, I can't thank him enough. It does help to do your research when you get into big baits that cost 40-50 bucks. But even with his help, i have got sucked into some of those "Fisherman Attracting" type baits. Just do your research
  12. I gotta go with the "Big Bait Posse". Whenever I get those fishing blues, this is always the cure. It gets me pumped up and ready to fish.
  13. I figured i'd get some response like that from you 4 bizz. + = I figure if I take her on this cruise it equals many many many fishing trips without the bit@#ing.
  14. I've always done LM but this year i'd like to target some smallies as well.
  15. My girlfriend and I are planning a cruise to mexico for our 3 year anniversary/valentine's day. I want to see if any of you guys have been on one. We are looking for places on the pacific coast for a 3-7 night cruise. We are looking to spend around 500 per person. For those of you who have done them, what cruise line did you take, how satisfied were you with them. Where did you go. Anything that you didn't like, anything that you really liked, etc. Any help in making this decision easier would be great. Thanks.
  16. I jsut went to a fish finder seminar where a rep from hummingbird spoke about color finders He said it just like computers, the quality is going up and the price is coming down. The density of the graph was amazing. I love my Lowrance X96 that I just got, but If I ever get another FF, it will be color.
  17. I have a 25 HP merc with a 6 gallon tank. I burned 3 gallons in 1 day (Lots of WOT, pretty long lake). I just went out again today for 1.5 hours doing waypointing and did alot of WOT and still have 1 gallon left) again, you'll be suprised how long a 6 gallon will last.
  18. 4 bizz recommended the Lowrance X96. I just used it for the first time and for the price it does wonders. It's not color, but has great detail.
  19. Water isn't supposed to be green, I wouldn't swim in it either. I've been testing baits in my apartment swimming pool, you should see the looks i've been getting.
  20. Owner or gammies.... need i say more
  21. I think that is irrelevant. I caught numerous fish on "Trout" like baits in lakes that don't have trout. Or have used crawfish scent on baits on a lake that doesn't have crawfish. Just a thought.
  22. Look at mattlures stuff, reasonably priced and are great baits. Also the soft 3:16 baits, mighty minnow's, mission fish. again reasonably priced.
  23. Well said matt. I have a BPS Extreme 7 MH rated for 1oz. I've thrown some fairly heavy baits with this numerous times. Including a 6" hudd, 9" Slammer (2.5oz), mattlures bluegill, etc, it handles the extra 1-1.5oz's like a champ.
