  1. Looks good to me. I just mounted mine like this, a little to the side.
  2. Don't have much experience with them, I bought a couple of the crankbaits that have the plastic tail,,,, both of the fell off.... both on the same trip....both on the second cast. So I probably wont be buying anymore. I hear a lot of people swear by them. At least they are fairly cheap. Give them a try. Brandon
  3. Yea, fishing jigs in heavy weeds is a little tough, especially if you hook up with that 5 pounder. Stick to what avid says. T Rig. Good Luck Brandon
  4. Sounds like roadtrip time for me. D**m, I wish I didn't turn flat-landerish and still lived up the hill. Is it off of Cherry Acres or the one across from 2nd gate? Way to go buddy. Give me a call if you need a fishing buddy rain or shine.
  5. This is the reel I learned on. For the first few months, I fished plastics (Mainly senkos) exclusively. I had no problem throwing them. It's a great little reel for the money (I got it at BPS combined with the BPS extreme 7' MH). you'll be happy
  6. Good Question. I have two that I'll throw. Obviously it depends on certain conditions though. I have an assortment of cranks that i'll throw for reaction strikes. I don't just throw and crank, i'll stop, retreive, twitch it, etc. The other one I started throwing when nothing else would work and found results in it. I like to throw the 3:16 mighty minnow. It won't always get strikes, but will get follows. Just find something you have confidence in. Good Luck.
  7. I will keep some fish, trout, salmon, etc. But never bass. Don't care for them much.
  8. I've been convinced on this theory for the past couple years. It's excatly what everyone else said with the line, it's because it's TRANSLUCENT. As far as hooks, I always have had red hooks on my favorite lures, cranks, spinnerbaits, etc. Not too long ago, a buddy told me a story that his friend's were fishing the same bait, using the same presentation and everything, but one had a red treble. The red treble was getting all the fish over the other bait. So the other guy switched over to a red treble and then the bites started coming for him. So it was just another story to convince me. It's not like it's a hard thing to get red hooks, give it a try.
  9. Gotta give the man credit. He hung in there and was so close so many times, he definately deserves it. And I also live super close to him too so I may be a little biased. ;D
  10. 5 in senko, watermelon w/chartruese tail with a red 3/0 EWG hook. It's always been my goto bait since day 1.
  11. I have used a few other scents in the past, but am currently on a "Megastrike" kick right now. From my experience, I don't know if it's way better than any other scent, but it is easy to apply as a "Jelly" and moderately priced. I actually just ordered 2 tubes of the "Crawfish" scent. brandon
  12. Gotta Agree, fourbizzle got me hooked on these. What's even better is that they are only 2 buck at TW.
  13. I'm glad you said something. We need more people like that. If I take a friend to anyone of my ponds, that's the first thing I tell them, C&R only. If they don't like it, they don't fish it, easy as that. I saw a kid take a 6# out of a small local pond. I wanted to tar and feather him. > I better stop before I get all worked up over this matter. Brandon
  14. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Yo-Zuri, i'll think i'll have to pick some up next trip to the shop
  15. I was in you shoes a couple years back when I first started bass fishing. I ended up going to BPS and got their Shimano Citica paired with a BPS Extreme 7' M/H for $150, and then I spent the other 100 on misc. tackle. It's a good all around setup that will last me for awhile. Good luck with the baitmonkey
  16. Thanks for the info, i appreciate it since i'm currently in the market for one. Thanks again.
  17. I saw this guy who had the rope lights around the deck. He had a 12V socket plug rigged from his battery, then had a cheap inverter in that, and plugged the rope lights plugged into that. Had all of that rigged to a switch. Seemed like a pretty good idea, it illuminated the bottom of the boat pretty well. A buddy of mine has those round battery operated lights that you press to turn on. Those work good but I don't know if they come in red.
  18. Just found this on the internet and thought it was neat. Figured I'd share it with everybody. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070913/ap_on_sc/trout_from_salmon What will they think of next? Brandon
  19. I just bought my first curado and will definately buy some more. It cast's like a dream. And pair it with a loomis and you'll be set.
  20. I have never used the Castaic, but I own a Citica and I like it (Not as much as my new curado), but it is a good all around reel for the money.
  21. I love ebay for this after my last experience. I got a NIB Curado 100 which retails for 200 for 130 shipped. I plan on buying my next reel from ebay. Bid-On!!! Brandon
  22. I just purchased the 100 Deep spool version. I purchased this one over the 200 because I liked the smaller size of it. I also liked the feel of it on the Powell rod i was getting better than the bulkier 200. Either way, I think you'll be very happy with the curado, I definately have a plan to buy more of these in the future. Good Luck Brandon
  23. Thanks for the info guys. David. How often do you make rods and sell them? I like the looks of the one's you have up there right now. And when the $$$ comes around i'm gonna give one of your rods a try. Thanks. Brandon
  24. I've used bizzle's once or twice. For the price it's not a bad little reel. I would recommend getting a few extra bucks and going with the citica if you can. This was my first baitcast I bought and I love it. I actually bought the combo from BPS that was paired with the BPS Extreme for 150 on sale. You'll be satisfied either way. Good luck Brandon
