Penn & Teller did a great show about PETA when they had their series on Showtime. You can watch it on google video. That's interesting because last year, any time my fishing partner and I would see a snake the fishing would pick up. We started to consider the snakes good luck.

I used to play for a couple years when I was younger. It's a great sport, very physical. I remember one practice I hit our goalie in the chest with the ball so hard he couldn't breath, and started crying. I felt really bad, but the coach pulled me to the side and said "That's how your supposed to do it" ;D

No brand loyalty here. If the reel has a good track record I'll use it. You can't buy a $20 Shimano/abu/daiwa and expect great things just because of the brand.

I thought I recently saw that the 6" is 2.1 ounces. I'll see what I can find. Edit: Bait barn has the 6" listed as approx. 2 ounces but they didn't list a weight for the 8".

Nick, Thanks for the advice. The $500 quoted was with 60% insurance coverage so we're probably about same with prices. If they can save my crown, I think I will go with the retreat. Now I just gotta stop grinding my teeth....

nick76, I had my initial root canal done by a general dentist. I wasn't too happy with the service, so I had friend refer me to another dentist who did the crown. I went back to him for the x-ray last week and he referred me to an endodontist. The endodontist is the one who quoted me on the retreat. I think I'm going to set up a pre op visit to determine exactly what needs to be done before I make my final decision. My antibiotics just ran out so hopefully I can fight off any infection until I can figure out what to do. Thanks for the info

Funny you ask. I'm going through a tough situation now. I had a root canal and crown a little under a year ago, about $800 altogether. I went back to my dentist last week because I have had pain for almost the entire year. He took an X-ray and said I needed a retreat which I got an estimate for....around $500, plus I may need a new crown if they can't drill through it....another $400. I'm on antibiotics now, but I'm pretty sure I would rather have it pulled than drop close to another grand on work. > I think this is why I've had problems throughout the past year. There have been times when I've arrived to a spot that was relatively calm, then I started throwing a rattle trap and I started to see baitfish getting chased in the area. Didn't help me catch anything but I think its an interesting concept.

I'm glad I quit when I did. I still don't agree with the new ban here in VA though....
