Thanks for the info, really appreciate it. I'm just looking for another big fish bait to get my average weight in a tourney up this year. All in all it was pretty good, about 2-2.5 lbs average a tourney except 2 or 3. But if I could ge that one 4+ pound fish some I could get rid of that last little one it would have given me more wins this year, I had 4 second places where I lost by under a pound and a half. And that one little guy left in the livewell would always kill me.
  2. Bet there offense will put up over 110 points combined against the fins and jets.
  3. muddy its ok in baseball but not in football for some reason. plain and simple he just broke a rule and is now considered a cheater because of it instead one of the best if not the best football coaches of all time. but now that you bring up baseball, wasnt there an issue with the cleveland indians having the camera in straight away center at jacobs field to pick off signs a few years back?
  4. if you like throwing jigs and spinnerbaits (1/4 oz +) you want a 7' med-heavy rod so you can get a good hookset on a jig and worm. go to 15-20 pound braid ( it has diameter of 4-6 lbs. test). so you can throw these baits around laydowns and in nasty areas (laydowns, brush piles, around or in grass and lily's) and not have to worry about getting the fish out. Plus if you fish areas like this, abrasion resistance comes into play big time, and anyone who fishes with braid, will tell you the stuff is hard to destroy unless you are fishing rocks. now if your fishing lighter baits that 1/4 like finesse jigs, plastics with an 1/8 oz weight, or light spinnerbaits, go medium action, i would stick to the braid though for fishing these types of baits.
  5. Can't wait to see the Pats and Jets play in a few weeks, They will be out to prove they didnt need video cameras to beat them. Final score will probably be 89-3 or something like that.
  6. I'll let RENT my new 7'3" medium heavy carrot stick when it comes in, lol.
  7. NYTEX hit it on the head with that one, those are the three big reasons why I use spinning gear when finesse fishing. The other big reason is for when I'am finesse fishing around docks or shallow cover, I can skip the bait up underneither the target, whether I'm fishing a tube, finesse worm, small stickbait, finesse jig or a floating worm. Also by skipping the bait you are giving the fish a presentation they really dont see much which I also think as an influence on whether not the fish is attracted or tricked into biting.
  8. Tiogue has been ON this year. Its turning into one of the states better fisheries, it doesn recieve much pressure and the fish have a great environment. Plus no boat traffic like that OTHER lake in Coventry, lol. Also DEM says that it has one of the better smallie populations around. I dont kno about that for sure but the smallest smallie I got out of there was 2.5 so.
  9. NOT REALLY HAPPY and 18.4 should not be allowed in the same sentence. lol
  10. 6'6" St. Croix Premier Casting- Heavy action for my jig fishing. But that might be changing when my 2 Carrot Sticks come in :) :)

Ok so a few weeks back I caught a three and half pound largie with a 10 inche brook trout in his gut. It makes me really want to get into swimbaits next year. It something most of the bass in New England have never seen and hopefully it something they will like. But around here isnt the place for huge swimbaits because a quality fish around here is anything over 2.5-3 pounds and the biggest we get is usually between 6-8 pounds. Not anything over 15 or 20 like you guys out west :'(. I would like to try to fish with smaller swimbaits say under 7 inches because I dont have much confidence in really really big baits. So any tips would help. Primary under what conditions to fish them and where (around what types of structure/cover) that sort of stuff.

3/8 oz. blue olive pro top secret jig with a watermelon *** beaver craw trailer.
  13. Plus could be worse, there could be ice on you know where already. Just trying to cheer you up.
  14. Plus up north you can catch fish like crazy either pitching a jig or burning a rat-l-trap, my 2 favorties ways to fish
  15. Just find the warmest water with deep water close by and you'll find fish. I dont know those two lakes at all but if they have any warm water discharges/ power plants check those out. Guy from the federtion got a 3rd place finish in the Bassmaster Classic last year fishing infront of one with a tube. They always hold fish during the cold. Also any drain pipes that bring in fresh water or rivers flowing in will have oxygen and there might be fish there.
  16. Calm down dude, deep breath. Just realize certain things are out of your control, and if the big man leads you to it, he will lead you through it.
  17. Bitsy bugs have always got the job done for me, never tried the boo jig though.
  18. I remember watching loadmouth bass a few years back when PETA came out with there "Your Daddy Kills Animals" banner with a guy killing a bunny or something. Just plain tasteless, no reason for it. I didnt realize how serious they were in there fight for animal rights, figured they were just another group that wanted to stop the clubing of baby seals and such. But I mean come on, people have hunted and fished in this country for who knows how long. And they think they can change that? Its like one of our rights as Americans.

On the local news tonight they showed ANOTHER report on gas prices and it showed a few gas stations out in California selling for almost for and one gas station in Oakland was selling 89 octane for $4.05!!! Hope those prices dont make there way east.
  20. Great info WRB. You hit it on the head about the alage too. Up until two weeks ago our temperatures were 10-15 degrees above average. But now they are saying upper 40's for highs during the day and upper 20's during the night. So the surface temp will be really dropping now, as if it hasnt already, dropped from (67 to 50) in the course of those two weeks. Winter is definatley coming :'(
  21. O YA! The 2007 Classic, Timmy Horton hooked 2 four-pound spots on a Excalibur lipless crank. Think its on you-tube somehwere. Craziest part is he flipped them into the boat!

This could get get nasty, bringing up some touchy issues. Yes it is about time for a powerful political person to step up and take charge. But because it is the whole supply and demand issue the oil companies are allowed to take advantage of the situation. Someone needs to take charge and tell these companies where to put there oil. Almost every quarter the oil companies have record PROFITS, thanks to us. What about state taxes too? That is now about 30-50 cents per gallon depending on what state you live in. And doesnt the U.S. have reserves everywhere? THE GULF COAST? ALASKA? Curiosity question.. Does the U.S. have enough oil to sustain itself for a period of time? Try to pull an old school boycott to force prices down?
  23. A few years back I caught two little 12 inch keepers on a lucky craft pointer 78. My personal favorite was at a little private farm pond, I gave my little brother a little trout hook and some meal worms to catch sunfish on. He is reeling in his first sunny and a 3 and a half pound largemouth just comes out of no where and eats the sunfish. Some how the bass got hooked and on a little ultra-light set-up with 4 pound test, thats a fun battle That was acctually his first bass too.
  24. LooksLikeSinbad is 100% percent right. The 5/0 corkscrew hooks from Hookerz Tackle are great, my hook-ups with the frogs went way up. When I used to use the regular Gamakatsu Superline hooks for the buzzfrogs and horny toads and I would only get about half the fish that hit it into the boat, but when I went over to the corkscrew hooks, not only did I not have to fix the frog. I got more of the fish that hit the frog in the boat. If you try fishing the frogs with them, you will never use another hook.
  25. Rologreat info about the fall. But down south, the lakes are so big you have baitfish everywhere, where as the smaller lakes we have (anywhere from 100-1000 acres) it seems like all the bait and bass will head towards one or a few general areas of the lake. For example, on one of the more popular bodies of water in the state, everyone knows that all the bait from the entire lake spend fall and winter in one little 3 acre branch of the lake. And in a tournament most anglers will fish there and thats where the tournament will be won out of. There is another lake where EVERYONE knows that the bait heads towards the north end of the lake where a one river flows in on one bank and on the other bank a river flows out and you will see 25 boats in a 10 acre section of a 1,300 acre lake. So if almost all of the bait is in one area of the lake, then most of the bass will be there too.
