  1. I took the plunge, too. I returned the 6.4:1 STX I bought in December to BPS and bought a Premier instead. I can't believe how light it is. I'm going to use it on my Fenwick HMG GT66M 6'6" medium.
  2. If the Rap is anything like the James or York, there's stripers there year around ('cept maybe the dead of summer). I don't think the big cows have made it into the James and York yet, though.
  3. Well, that certainly was a helluva sales-pitch for them.
  4. That's what I'm getting at. I guess it can be done, but I've never tried it. It just seems to me that you'd really have to flick it hard. My first thought is that the nature of the cast is the problem, not the reel.
  5. I just bought my 8th and 9th Revo a few days ago - replacements for my Curado 200 DHSVs. Still don't have a Premier, yet, though. Soon...
  6. How do you cast a 1/2 oz lure 130 feet on 15# line? That just seems mighty far for relatively light lure. Wouldn't you really have to wing it to get it that far?

Has anyone used these? Are they new? I've never seen them before. I went to BPS today and saw them and thought the looked pretty remarkable. I picked up two in baby-bass, two in redear, and two in shad. Hoping I didn't waste my money.

Let me go on record and define myself. I... 1) ...have never been in the military, though I did finish 4 years fo Army ROTC in college. 2) ...am not, and never have been, a sniper of any kind, except for squirrels or the occassional groundhog. 3) ...am not a boat mechanic, though I've changed the fluids in my outboard, and know how to launch a boat. 4) ...am not educated in the field of biology, though I've had stuff under my fingernails that had probably had biological stuff in it. 5) ...a heavily endowed love machine that would probably be a highly paid and famous adult film star if I a) wasn't already married, and was already a fairly competent insurance adjuster. OK, I lied about 5.

You also wrote: About a month and a half ago i go and apply for a job not thinking i will get it and not caring if i did and Not thinking i would get the job or even caring i checked them all It's a good idea to care about things like this and pay attention to what you are doing. The real world will bite you on your a$$ if you don't. To answer your question, you very well may be stuck with it. And one more thing, if you end up caring whether you keep this job or not, you may want to drop the issue real soon. Employers generally don't have a lot of patience with new young employees that think they are stupid, and "don't care" to fill out their paperwork right.
  10. I've got some BPS XPS Minnows that are all scratched up. I color the black back of them with a black sharpie. I haven't noticed that fish mind.

Many companies have an "election period" for health benefits. You can only sign up for it, or cancel it, during the election period window. Of course, you can sign up for it outside the election period when you start a jod, or cancel it when you quit. But if you stay at the job, many companies will only let you cancel it during the "election period" window. This prevents people from trying to save money by signing up for health benefits only when they think they are going to use it. You may be stuck with it for awhile.
  12. Only 2'7" low today. Not a bad recovery from 12' low in October.

There's only one poser on this board that I know of. And I haven't seen that Marine-sniper/war-hero/boat-mechanic/doctor-of-biology/love-machine in awhile.
  14. Shipping 8' of PVC sounds expensive. If I were to ship 3 rods in the US, what sort of costs am I looking at?
  15. Come out to Green Top in Richmond. I was there today. Tons of them. Even though it's a retail store, they will ship, too.
  16. Those of you who have shipped rods, tell me how you packaged them. I might be selling a few of my rods (7' one piece) and wonder what the best way to package them is for shipping in the lower 48.
  17. According to Abu, it's not the only new Revo that will be out this fall.
  18. Horny Toads are awesome. I catch a lot of fish on them. I've rigged them several ways, some work better than others. Here's a few of my techniques... 1) 5/0 Gamakatsu EWG - very weedless, hook-ups are reasonably good 2) Horny Toad Hook - about the same as the Gamakatsu with respect to being weedless and hookups 3) Matzuo 5/0 Long Shank worm hook - reasonably weedless, but hookups are much easier since the hook point does not come up thru the body, but rather up behind the bait between the legs and the point is set just under the skin 4) Eagle Claw weedless - reasonably weedless, but easy hook ups. Best for buzzing in more open water. The hook point down acts as a keel and keeps it right-side-up. Hooking it point-up and the bait rolls over in open water.
  19. A yellow and black Premier with the STX bearing count and an Inshore handle. 'Bout sums it up.
  20. The article contains an egregious typo
  21. That was a tragic battle. One of the eeriest things I've ever seen associated with that battle are the color films taken of the first landing crafts and amtraks going towards shore (even before the Japanese opened fire) with crewmen, black and white, whose faces were painted white with anti-flash cream to prevent burns from the gasoline booby trps the Japanes places in the water around the island. They knew what was coming.
  22. Try some Daiichi Buttdraggers (D67Z) 5/0.
  23. I wear a flat top. It's cool. And the chicks dig it.
  24. Congrats, man. You need to start planning on how to introduce you son or daughter to fishing. You ought to have a plan in place by the end of the second trimester.
  25. ...you'd be seeing this on the front page... The Battle of Iwo Jima is raging right now, 62 years ago.
