BPS Pro Qualifier rods on sale - $59.88 Shwe
YES!!! I called the 1-800 number. It is NOT a internet sale, but rather an IN STORE sale in the Hampton, Virginia store. However, if you call in your order, THEY WILL match the in-store price - $59.88. Make sure you tell them it's a sale in the Hampton store's sale flyer.

BPS Pro Qualifier rods on sale - $59.88 Shwe
I went into the store. There was only a small sign indicating the sale price of $59. I was told it's a close-out price since that model will not be carried next year. It may be in-store only. But it might be worth a try calling in an order and asking for that price.

BPS Pro Qualifier rods on sale - $59.88 Shwe
I went to BPS today to buy a few Extreme rods on sale for $64 when i found out the BPS Pro Qualifier rod, normally $119, is on sale for $59. I bought 3. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58455_100002006_100000000_100002000_100-2-6

The whole REVO line now available?

Muskie/Pike Reel Suggestions?
I understand that some of the larger 7000 series reels were made in Taiwan. But the smaller Amb's are still made in Sweden. I have several C4s, a couple of 2005s, a 2006 and a 2007 and ALL clearly stamped Made In Sweden. As far as your "inferior" comment goes, I'll consider it unqualified *** unless you have credible evidence to the contrary. BTW, from what I've seen, Okumas are made in China.

Polarized Sunglasses
I think I've broken every pair of polarized sunglasses I've ever owned, and I'm sure I'll end up breaking the ones I have now. The best pair I ever owned was a pair of Bausch and Lombs with reel glass lenses. I don't think they are made anymore. (Forgot they were in my car seat and I sat on them). I've owned several pairs of Oakleys. Broke or lost every pair, except my first pair, which I gave to my girlfriend's brother. Right now I own 3 pairs of Cabelas TR3s. I have a pair in both of my cars, and one for use around the home. Their lenses are awesome. And they are cheap enough so tat when I end up smashing them, which surely I will, I can afford another pair. BTW, I'm 6'4" and have a big head, and these glasses fit me perfectly.

Revos - sellin' like hotcakes
I've never seen Cabelas sell out of anything.

Right, wrong or indifferent?
One thing I've noticed is that you sometimes can't even ask a question, or engage in some discourse, without people being offended. Ask a question why someone likes one rod over another then suddenly you have five people telling you that you are bashing their equipment, or that you have no idea what you're talking about since you don't own that rod, or that you are just trying to justify your own equipment. It's almost as if there are two separate conversations going on. On the bright side, the vast majority of conversation on the board is civilized. There are a number of people who stand out as being exceptionally courteous and perpetually pleasant, among them Basshunter69. These people make the forum a nice place to visit.

Abu Garcia Revo Premier
I'm going to buy an STX in the next few weeks, for my as of yet identified new rod, for my undetermined fishing technique. After the STX, I think I'm going to build a couple of inshore rigs witht he Revo Inshore.
-
New reel / tackle......
The Revo Inshore model has a spool with holes in it. And Abu says that the fancy aluminum in the Inshore is being used in other Revos (and there ain't no other 'saltwater' Revos). The Revo is just fine for inshore use. Like I said, it's highly regarded by a lot of striper fishermen. But it doesn't matter if you get a saltwater reel or a freshwater reel, salt is corrosive and all reels should be tended to carefully after saltwater use.
-
New reel / tackle......
I've seen this before, and it's wrong. You are a victim of a marketing ploy. The STX is a saltwater reel (whether or not its marketed that way). There is no difference in the bearing material between the Revo S, SX, STX and Inshore. All use German made bearings that are solid corrosion resistant steel, not coated. The Revo Inshore uses exactly the same HPCR bearings as the "freshwater reels." The Inshore's "X-Craftic alloy frame and crank-side cover for enhanced corrosion resistance" is gobblygook marketing talk to make you think you are getting something different in the Inshore than you are getting in the STX. You aren't. Same reels - different looks. If you frequent any saltwater boards, like the striped bass board, you'll see the STX is a quite a popular saltwater reel and I haven't read a single account of any problems with saltwater use. It doesn't matter if it's a "salt-water" reel or not, any reel requires special care after saltwater use. On top of that, the Revo's drag system is second on none - probably the best of any reel on the market today. Certainly is provides the most drag force. I respect your decision, but the STX would have made a fine inshore reel. And given it's drag system, may have been the better choice for larger saltwater fish.

Brand New Revo SX BLOWS UP!!!!!
I don't see it as Abu's or BPS's responsibility. I don't think they owe him anything for free. And there is no way in hell I would accept a repair job, either, on a brand new reel that has never been used. I would expect the tackle shop to replace the reel with a brand new one - immediately (I mean WITHOUT DELAY). Their employee broke it. Not only should they replace the reel, they ought to give him a brand new replacement spool of line. They ought to also to keep that reel and mount it in some conspicuous spot to show employees what can happen when they spool line inappropriately.

Look what happened....
What about the Loomis Mossyback rods? Any opinions on them? I want to buy a heavy pitching rod - soon.
