... and the redesigned Revo
Agreed. Looks like pflegm. But there are other models so maybe they got the colors on those right.

Here's the new Patriarch XT
I really got to fiddle with the Patriarch this last weekend. I must say, cough cough, I like it better than the Revo STX. It's smaller than the Revo, or at least feels like it is. And it palms MUCH better. I like to wrap my index finger around the front of the reel. On my Revos, the pawl cap hits my finger as it sweeps back and forth. That doesn't happen on my Zillions, Fuegos and Sol. I thought Daiwa was the only manufacturer that got it right. Then I used a Patriarch. Pflueger got it right, too. That pawl cap is shielded and your finger won't bump it. (Also, the pawl cap is polished metal on the Patriarch - it's plastic on the Revo.) The Patriarch is the bombdiggity. Now, in a killer color, reduced weight, and without that dumb handle, they may have built the perfect reel.

... and the redesigned Revo
Colors on this one seem a little weird. But the handle knobs look great. Wonder what the other models will look like. I can envisions a killer looking SX. http://tackletog.com/jip/2009/07/07/abu-garcia-revos-sorry-no-mods-just-redesigned/

Here's the new Patriarch XT
Looks like this is now on my wish list. Darn fine looking reel. Is that a carbon fiber handle? Mee thinks it is. http://tackletog.com/jip/2009/07/07/pflueger-patriarch-xt-photo-and-additional-details/

Need advice on a bedcover for my truck
I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado crew cab with a short bed. My wife is busting my chops about getting some kind of bed cover so crap she occassionally hauls around doesn't get wet. So, I need something that covers the bed, that can be easily removed, and doesn't cost a fortune. I want something that does not require drilling. NO DRILLING. I'd like something that cost under $400. Like I said, its for her benefit and will only be used occassionally. I was thinking of something like this... http://extang.com/docs/classicplatinum.html Anyone have any experience with this product, or a similar product? Or have a suggestion for an alternative?

Wake Baits?
I do both. I get as many hits on a steady retrieve as a I do with pauses.

Very important please read!
AFAIK, there hasn't been a single piece of gun control legislation that has even made it out of committee yet, much less made it to any floor for a vote. Gun control is not in vogue again - yet.

Upgrading bc reel...need advise
IMO, I'd rule the Toro out right away. It's a great reel, but I doubt it will handle light baits well at all. It's designed for heavier applications. For bass fishing, I think it is best utilized as a swimbait reel. If all you were fishing for is stripers it's perfect. But if LMB is you main quarry, then there are better choices than the Toro. The Inshore will handle lighter baits better. Of course, the Inshore is based on the Revo, which is a stellar bass reel. Its deep spool makes it more suitable for heavier baits (1/2 oz and up), but I know people have good luck using lighter baits, down to 1/4 oz. The Inshore is very robustly built. It has extra corrosion protection and no holes in the spool to let saltwater in. The gearing is thick and the drag is heavy duty. I have caught a few stripers on my revos and they have the power and drag to bring them in. One reel you would do well to consider is the Revo Winch. It is essentially an Inshore (but without the infinispool) but with a lower gear ratio making it a perfect choice for crank baits. It has the same spool (different color) as the Insore, though the Winch has a shaft, whereas the Inhore has the Infinispool feature. There is not a lick of difference in performance. It is an excellent reel. Again, the deep spool ins't the best choice for light cranks, but it will cast them. The Winch will cast heavier cranks a long, long way. If you are considering a Curado for bass and striper fishing, I'd look for one of the older Curado 200DPVs. I know people will get heartburn over this, but I think it is a much better reel than the new Curado for occassional forays into saltwater. It was built more robustly than the Curado E and has an aluminum crankside sideplate, which will give you peace of mind when pulling in a big striper.

lipless crank>??? which is best
The Yo-Zuri Live Bait Shallow Vibe... http://www.***.com/descpageHDLYOZURI-YLBSV.html#pImage ...is another excellent lipless. It's made of solid plastic with a soft feel to it (it's not flexible). It has no rattles. But it has some action. Fast or painfully slow, it has a great flutter. It's a little heavy for its size, but it casts a great distance. It doesn't nose-stand like the baits I mentioned earlier. It's a great bait if you fish tidal waters.

Wake Baits?
Wakebaits work great. The LC you mentioned has a great action. I want to try some of the RC jointed baits. They are on sale at BPS for under $10. My favorite wakebait is the Jackall Cherry Zero Footer. It's a crank but doesn't dive much and will work as a wakebait when retrieve slowly. It has a very wide action and generates a nice wake. As mentioned, the Ima Roumba is stellar. If you close your eyes, you'll swear that Roumba is a fighting fish.

Daiwa Baitcaster Questions
For an all around reel, you cannot beat the Zillion 100HA (6.3:1). It palms exceptionally well. You have a broad top to rest your thumb on. And you can wrap your index finger around the front of the reel and the pawl cap will not touch your fingers as it sweeps back and forth. It's the smoothest reel, regardless of prce, I've ever handled. It's glass smooth. So is the drag. It casts exceptionally well. Whatever you may have heard about it not handling light baits all that well, it will throw a 1/4 oz crank or other light bait very well. Not as good as the Sol, but certainly as well as the Revo. It casts heavier baits pretty much as far as you want to throw them. The Zillion is built like a tank. Everything of consequence is metal. The gears (to include the worm gear) are brass. The Zillion is built to last many, many, many years.

Fishing on the Eastern Shore Virginia????
I was confused by the title of your post. The "Virginia Peninsula" is the peninsula that has the cities of Newport News, Hampton, York County, etc. There are lots of lakes here that have bass. But then I looked up Cherrystone and see its is in Northampton County. That peninsula is known as the "Eastern Shore." Unfortunately, it is not known for great bass fishing since all the ponds are pretty much privately owned, unless you can find a park. However, saltwater fishing is excellent right now. My friend where I work went out on the bay for a few hours and caught 7 flounder, 4 over 19 inches.

lipless crank>??? which is best
Jackall T/N70 Yo-Zuri Hardcore Drum Spro Aruku Shad In that order. These are very close in performance. All have great action at any speed, even very slow retrieve speeds. They sink nose first, and all of them stand on their noses on the bottom with their tails pointing upwards. They can be jigged and don't plane to one side on a fall, and flutter nicely in the rise. Of course, you can burn them like any other lipless.

I started reading the reviews and apparently they have a rattle.

Tru-Tungsten Hollow Frogs
Great. Now Dan is going to call me out on this one, too. He already called me out on being late on the boat crash video. Just ignore this thread. I'll read that one.

Organizing your hardbaits
I use the Flambeaus', too. Mainly 'cuz I like the blue dividers, and because the latches don't pop off. It's me, too. I find myself re-organizing every couple of seeks.

Tru-Tungsten Hollow Frogs
I just saw these Mad Max frogs. TT Mad Max Frog They look just like Spros, right down to the squinty eye. Has anyone used them? Anything special about them? I like some of the color schemes.

Baticasting Help Needed
The TD Advantage HSTA is an excellent reel. I think it is the better made of the two. It's a little bigger, and comes in a more "all around" gear ratio. What seems to be particularly notable about this reel is that it can handle light baits very well. I can't speak to Daiwa's customer service since none of my Daiwas have needed service, but I've read that their customer service is as good as any. I've ordered some parts (plastic handle caps that are easy to bugger up) from them and they shipped immediately. If you have a problem with your real that you can't fix, you just send it in for service. You really don't need forum support to tell you that.
