usually about 5-6 hours. I too have little ones at home. I take my daughter with me as much as she will go. She is 9, and gets bored in about 10 minutes. My boy is 4 and I am hoping he gets into it in the next couple years. I have taken him as well, but at this point in his fishing career, he is more of a swimmer than a fisher. ;D

I watch pretty much all of them. I try to take bits and pieces of information that I can use from each show. I know Bill Dance gets beat up because of where he fishes, but for a newer angler, he gives a good bit of detail about what he is doing, and why he is doing it, including water temperature, water clarity, barometer readings, etc. Jimmy Houston and Roland Martin are my least favorites, but both of them hand out some good pieces of information, if you can wade thru the infomercial to get it. JMHO. Bass pros is probably my favorite along with Lindner's Angling edge.

jointed black jitterbug

I have a black jointed jitterbug that just catches 'em. Very easy to use. I don't know if it is the "best", but it is certainly effective and very easy to fish.

I think it is called a jonny rattler and is made by luhr-jensen. it is kinda like a heddon torpedo, but is bigger. the blade makes a higher pitched sound than the torpedo. Best of all I got it for a dollar on a markdown table. I throw it and a jitterbug early and late, and usually catch at least one fish on each.

I have two mojo rods. one spinning model and the 7ft. crankbait model. The mojo crankbait rod is fastly becoming my favorite. I like the way it feels, it handles fish nicely, and i bought it used for 60.00 shipped.

Same thing happened to me last summer. I told them I fell and broke the clear plastic front cover, asked how to purchase a replacement. I had a new one in two or three days, no cost to me whatsoever. I also am a customer for life. The lady was even kind enough to thank me for using their products.

One of my friends who works at cabelas suggested these to me as an alternative to a spook or such. They are weedless, float, and can be thrown nearly anywhere.

I don't know the specs, but I bet if you sent Cabelas customer service an email, they could provide you with the information. Good luck.

Down goes Kansas. From what I saw, they seemed awfully tight today. Saw them play several times this year and thought they were the best team in the country. Of course, credit must be given to a Northern Iowa team that executed their game plan to the letter today.

Thanks Stasher1, I never even noticed that. Neither did the tech at St. Croix that responded to my email apparently. I guess my point is....is there a difference between two cranking rods if they are the same action and same line/lure rating? Or is the glass rod the one with the better feel??? thanks to all who have responded.

Can anyone explain why they prefer a glass crankbait rod vs. a graphite one? i emailed St. croix and asked what the difference would be between one of their premier crankbait rods vs same premier glass crankbait rods. The reply was they would be the same, have the same action, but some folks just preferred glass crankbait rods. My question is why? if they are same line/lure rating, same power and action, what would be different? Thanks for any help you can give.

I throw a road runner rollin runner spinner head w/ a super fluke that I have trimmed about a 1/4 inch off the front. I swim it, yo-yo it, and slow roll it along the bottom. Works especially well with the white ice or smokin shad colors. the light from the spinner reflects off or thru the body of these colored flukes. Crappies seem to love this bait as well.

I have two Mojos. One casting and one spinning that I purchased from a member here. For 120.00 bones for the two, including shipping, pretty tough to beat. I really like them both.

2cents, I have the 6 1/2 ft. casting rod you mentioned. Although you can use it for any type fishing, it would probably be better served to throw lighter cranks on. the moderate fast action would make soft plastic fishing tougher, but not impossible. For the 30 bucks you spent on them, I think you got a good deal. I also have the spinning rod that you have, but in the 6 1/2 ft length. For thirty bucks, very hard to beat these rods. Mine are 4 years old now and still going strong.

I have a two year old brittany spaniel that has turned out to be an outstanding dog. She is terrific with my four year old boy who is autistic. She is very patient with him, and seems to understand him. She is very smart, housebroken in about two days...learned on her own basically. We just took her outside all the time at first. She now just looks at me or my wife...intently until we realize she needs to go out. She rarely barks. and she just hangs with the family. They are supposed to be runners and very high strung. She is neither. Never had her on a boat, but she is extremely calm and I think would just curl up and nap while I was fishing. If I was going to pick a "buddy" and had room for her to run, I would choose a lab. But my little dog has turned out to be an outstanding pet. Good luck in your search.

yaaj, have you had one break? I know strike king had problems with early king shads, but I thought they had fixed the issue of them breaking at the joint???

I have tried and like the store brands from cabelas and bass pro's xps. I also like both the yo-zuri hybrid and yo-zuri ultrasoft. I am by no means an expert, nor even very experienced, but for value, the yo-zuri far outdistances everything. You can get 600 yard spools from cabelas everyday for 13 bucks, everything else seems to be 14 to 25+ for 250-275 yards.

OOPS. :-[ It is the baby king shad that I am looking at. Anyone fish these rascals yet???

My favorite is the rapala DT 6 in bluegill pattern. I do have a couple of dig-its from cabelas that have been productive as well. One is the baby bass pattern that has helped catch many fish, from bass to crappies. Surprisingly good little bait for the dollar I paid for it. ;D
