What knots do you recommend for joining two lines together?? Do you use the same knot for joining two different kinds of line (braid & mono) as you do for joining the same kinds of line (say fluorocarbon)?

Wow, thanks to all who offered input. I have several new items to try. I have not tried a live magic shad, spook, or an inline spinner. Nor have i tried the suspending jerkbait or the swimming shad. I know they are bass jumping, at least the ones I see. I have also not tried the fat ika. I have tried the fluke rigged weightless, and also rigged on a Aaron Martens scrounger head. I have also thrown a 1/4 ounce jighead rigged with a 4 inch grub in white, chartruese, and watermelon. However, i get lots of hangups due to the exposed hook. I have also tried at least two colors on all the baits...from watermelon, junebug, and lighter baby bass and pearl colors. It is literally driving me nuts. I can see them, and there seems to be a lot of them, but I can't catch them. Thanks for the help guys. I will give them stuff they have not seen this weekend.

Stasher1, I couldn't agree more. However, in my personal experience most people just accept what the person they are dealing with tells them. Most people are not willing to keep fighting until they get what they want. I am not in any way saying Uncle Leo is like this. I do not know him. I have witnessed personally car dealers, insurance companies, retail stores, etc give folks a raw deal, and they just accept it. There is always another person to to share your unhappiness with, right up to and including Jonny Morris himself.

Need some suggestions please. I have a spot where I fish that will have lily pads...whenever they grow. I know there are "stems" under the surface of the water. the water is at the shallow end of the lake, but I am not sure how deep it ends up being as I fish from the bank. I would guess that the places that I can cast to are anywhere from 1 to 6 or 7 feet deep. The water in this area is stained. Anyway, i see shad poppin up on the surface a lot, and see and/or hear bass jumping several times during the course of about an hour or so. I have fished there every time out for the last 6 or 7 trips and nothing. I can't get a bite. I have tried a fluke, topwaters including buzzbaits, poppers, jitterbug, prop baits, and wake baits. I have thrown spinnerbaits both white and white/yellow with and without trailers. I have thrown lipless cranks and tried to keep them just above the "stems" of the lily pads. I have thrown senkos, brush hogs, and powerbait worms. I have even tried a couple jigs...they are now underwater treasure. Anyone have any suggestions that might help. Thanks in advance.

I have two that really stand out. I started fishing about 4 years ago. My father-in-law had just passed and he used to take my daughter fishing. I had no interest before in fishing, but knew it was the right thing to do. I bought a zebco 33 combo, and a friend at work suggested a couple different baits, including a tiny torpedo. I took the daughter several times, but we had no luck, even though we always had fun. More and more I knew I was getting hooked, but I wasn't catching anything. My friend at work suggested going before daylight and using the jitterbug and torpedo. this was in early fall, about mid-September. I went the next Saturday and was at the bank fishing about an hour before daylight. I remember the air being very crisp and the fall air smelled so clean. My first cast i am reeling in the 3/8 jitterbug and listening to it come through the water, blurg, blurg, blurg, then about 5 feet from the bank, a huge splash and a bass just inhales the jitterbug. I am reeling, the fish is pulling drag, I am reeling, heart beating out of my chest. I pull in a 1.5 to 2 lb bass. I can still remember it all, including the embarrassing fact that when that fish hit the jitterbug, I screamed like a girl! ;D ;D The second was last year. I was having some success almost every time out, but most of my fish were caught right next to the bank, and very little fight was necessary to land them. I was telling my wife that I wished we had a boat while we were watching a fishing show and the hosts were fighting the bass for 25 or 30 yards. She pointed out the obvious...we can't afford a boat , maybe in a couple years. Of course, she was right. But someone was listening, because the next day, I made a long cast with my favorite fish catcher... a black jointed jitterbug. The rod was a bass pro crankin stick topped with a cabelas prodigy baitcaster. As soon as the lure hit the water, a huge bass drilled it. I fought that thing for maybe 30 yards of water.... again, heart beating out of my chest. When I landed it, I knew it was huge. By far the biggest fish I have ever caught. It was 5 or 6 inches longer than a plano 3700 box and very thick. I went to cabelas the next day and bought a digital scale. I have no idea what it weighed, but I can't imagine anything being as much fun as catching fish. (Of course, watching my kids grow up and spending time with the wife are always #1 priority and #1 fun) I am always amazed at how much of an adrenaline rush I get when I catch a fish. I am not a yeller or screamer like Iaconelli, but I get that out- of -breath excitedness every time I catch a fish.

Call corporate and keep going up the ladder until you get what you need. Remind whomever you are talking to that you can easily reach well over ten thousand people on just ONE website, many of whom are already following this thread to see how they end up treating you. I would suggest wording it something like..."I would hope that you would do the right thing and take care of this problem, but if not I am prepared to share this story with several thousand of my fishing friends on the websites I visit. Many are already aware of the situation and are monitoring it to see how it is concluded". My sincere hope for you is that get far enough up the ladder and reach someone who truly understands customer service and personally handles this for you. Good luck.

I have had really good success with the cabelas prodigy baitcaster. It usually sells for 99.00 but I have picked up a few for as low as 54.00 to 59.00 dollars. They are made by Daiwa. I can't imagine there is a better reel out there for 60 bones.

Caught a 3.8 Lb. largemouth today with the 6 inch 1.5 ounce hard plastic swimbait today. I threw the jitterbug 1st followed by a prop bait followed by a lipless crank. Tied on the swimbait and WHAM. Hardest strike I have felt on any bait. Apparently the bait has enough action to get eaten. Just thought I would give you guys an update since I originally thought they didn't swim with much action.

Nobody likes a showoff Koulaid. ;D I only buy lures that work for me too. spinnerbaits, worms, brush hogs, shallow cranks, jerk baits, medium diving cranks, swim baits, jigs, lizards, rage tail products, Oh No. I think he has me too.

Well, I took the swimbaits out today. Was a very still day and the water was smooth. Much to my surprise, the cabelas swimbaits (sebile magic swimmer type) do in fact swim. It is a very subtle action. the storm kickin stick's swim very well. Also, the BBZ knock-offs from cabelas have great action. I was pleasantly surprised. I have not tried the sebile yet, but from what I have seen on you tube they do have a more pronounced action. However, the cabelas brand may have a place where fish are looking for something with a subtle swimming action. Thanks to all who replied.

I worked at and shot as a sponsored archer at a small archery shop here in Ohio. A group of young boys came in several years ago and soon became regulars. One of these boys in particular took a liking to me and challenged me frequently to shooting competitions. I always beat him and after about the 50th challenge that I won, he said to me..."you are just a regular ShootermcBob. Bob is my real name and I am not even sure what the rest of it means. the nickname just kinda stuck.

I am happy Phil won. The scene where he was hugging his wife and they were both crying was really touching.

I have two prop baits where the blades don't spin freely. One is a wounded zara spook and the other one is a brand new 5/8 heddon torpedo bait. I noticed today the spook is actually turning over instead of the blades rotating. Is there any way to fix these so the blades rotate freely? Thanks for your help and suggestions

I could use some input. I recently purchased a few cabelas hard plastic swimbaits... 4 inchers made similar to the sebile magic swimmer and also a couple of the ones made to look like the spro bbz shad. the smaller ones comparable to the sebile magic swimmer don't have much swimming action. I have tried both mono and fluoro lines, with and without snaps. Kept the rod tip high and kept it low. I also have some of the storm swimbaits and they swim fine. Any one else have ideas? any one else use these baits???

I have another brand of that kind of trimmer. It works well, especially if you have lots of trimming on fairly flat lands. does well around fence rows as well. It will trim very heavy weeds that would bog down most regular type weed wackers.

the redskins have given Campbell permission to seek a trade. I don't think he has played his best football yet, but you have to wonder if Mike Shanahan has ZERO interest in him???? As for McNabb, I think he has been under-appreciated his entire career. As Matt stated earlier, he has never had a pro bowl reciever to throw to... that lasted longer than 18 months. And the eagles went to the super bowl when TO was there. They are finally getting some weapons on offense, Jackson, Maclin, McCoy, Celek, that is a lot of firepower. And Now McNabb won't be there to enjoy it. As a cowboys fan, it would not bother me if the trade didn't work out for either team. But that still leaves those darn Giants...who beat us twice last year. >

I am on a very limited budget as well. I have a cabelas fairly close (about an hour and 15 minutes away). I like their fishing rods and reels and watch them closely for sales. I have bought their XML rods for as low as 59.00...they retail regularly for 139.00. I have bought their house brand baitcaster (made by diawa) for as low as 54.00 ...retail for 99.00. I have several rods and reels and nary a problem with any of them. If you watch bass pro, lots of good things being said about their pro qualifier reel and their new carbonlite rods. Both can be had on sale for about 70-80 bucks. I decide what I am going to purchase and then wait for it to go on sale. I also take advantage of cabelas rebates...20 bucks off if you spend a hundred or 30 off 150 purchase. Last, and not least, keep an eye on the flea market on this website, many really good deals on quality equipment can be had .

If possible, they will perform the surgery arthroscopically which greatly reduces chances of infection and vastly increases healing time. As stated before, listen the the therapist and doctors, do your rehab as directed, and hopefully you will be fully recovered in the shortest amount of time possible

I lost a cavitron buzzbait at the end of last season...about September. I found it my first excursion out about a week ago. Took it home, cleaned it in some vinegar water, brushed the 6 months of guk off it. Polished it up with some bar keepers friend, and it looks nearly new.
