  1. WOW! That gave me goosebumps. :o
  2. outstanding! Thanks for sharing
  3. That's funny. ;D ;D
  4. I have a black jointed jitterbug that is beat-up. the "bill" has been bent and straightened a bunch. It catches fish...like mad. I fish it early and late. I had a couple boaters "infringe" on my fishing area and one actually asked me " you aren't throwing a jitterbug, are you?" (By infringed, I mean they trolled right threw the area I was fishing from the back....did not go around, just cruised thru.) I said yes I am fishing with a jitterbug. He and his partner mumbled back and forth and giggled between themselves. I then caught not one but two bass along the rip rap they had just cruised threw. I did not say a word, but felt like the jitterbug had said enough.
  5. Great story. Thanks for sharing
  6. I also have a zebco omega. Heads and shoulders above anything else in their line-up.
  7. Fishing Rhino and Goose52, those are two sweet looking rigs. Everytime i see your pics of your rigs, I get canoe ***.
  8. Have you fished with the new combo yet??? If so, what were your impressions?
  9. He was outstanding in everything I ever saw him in. He played a tremendous role in a TV program w/ Benjamin Bratt? I think. Hopper was Bratt's comanding officer in the army. Anyone remember the show?? I also liked him in Hoosiers.
  10. I like the rage tail baits, and have caught fish with them. I also use some zoom flukes, trick worms, and some GYCB senkos and swim senkos. I also really like the yum houdini shad. I have also caught a few fish on strike king 3X plastics finesse worm. My point is there are several soft plastics companies out there, experiment until you find the ones that you have confidence in and throw those. I am not sure comparing them to other plastics fished in "not exactly" the same places at "not exactly" the same times is fair.
  11. in that case, I have been having success with spinnerbaits w/ matching zoom trailer, swim jigs w/ rage craw trailer, small crankbaits like the strike king 1xs, and lipless crankbaits.
  12. Goose52, that is one sweet rig.
  13. I bought two of them. I watched Billy and Bobby Murray catch fish after fish with the dancin eel. I got the one each of them was using as they used different colors. I have never caught a fish on this lure. In all fairness, I do not throw it hardly at all.
  14. My name is Bob. I fish mostly at Tappan lake, with occasional trips to Clendending Lake and Salt Fork Lake. I started fishing only a few years ago, and find it mesmerizing to be out fishing while the sun comes up, the turkeys are gobbling, deer will be snorting, and, hopefully, the bass are slamming a black jitterbug. ;D I do not currently own a boat and will most likely not for a couple years.
  15. they are carp for sure. I saw several of them again today, and got a close look at one about 3 feet away. It was a carp and it scared the crap out of me as well. Thanks to all who chimed in.
  16. Pretty good deal. Thank you to Pinnacle! and the Pinnacle company for their support.
  17. What other species of fish might jump out of the water besides bass???? I have seen several bass bust the surface, but today out of the corner of my eye I saw a fish nearly come out of the water, and it looked like it had a pink belly? I know the lake has bass, carp, crappie, catfish, saugeye, and bluegill in it.
  18. I watch the bargain cave online at cabelas and the clearance area online for bass pro. I also check out the home sites for gambler and others. I rarely pay full price for any tackle. I check every other day or so and take advantage when the opportunity comes. I also take advantage of the get 20 bucks off if you spend a hundred dollars at cabelas and bass pro if they have other stuff on sale that i want or need. I also keep an eye on walmart. Many times I find really great deals after the season. Last year I got 2 spools of berkely big game ( 12 lb) for a buck each.

  20. I like the original better. For me, it handles better.
  21. I have had some good catches this year on traps or trap style baits. I am not sure why it is, but I have caught fish on a rat-l-trap right after i fished a red eye shad w/ no luck and vice versa. I have also thrown Cordell super spot before and after the others, with the same results. I usually throw at least one color of all three...rat-l-trap, red eye shad, and Cordell super spot. Gotta warn you, lipless crank baits are one of the bait monkeys calling cards...beware.
  22. well, I hit my frustrating spot yesterday and tried several of the suggestions you guys provided. Sadly, I had no bites in about an hour and a half of fishing with a spinnerbait, inline spinner, swim senko, spook, sexy swimmer. I then tied on a live magic shad ...1st cast and Wham! i get a hard strike and ...I missed him! UGGHHH. I fished for about another twenty minutes and got no other strikes. At least I did get a strike. thanks for all the [/b]suggestions. I did catch a couple fish in another area on an inline spinner fished just beneath the surface. The cool thing about that was I actually saw the second fish come from the side and whack the spinner.
  23. I have never fished with a Loomis rod or top end St. Croix, or powell rods. I have two Mojo bass rods that I purchased from a member here for 120 total. I have caught 7 fish using the rods over the last 3 days and have had absolutely no problems feeling the bite on either rod. Like most other things, there certainly is lots of personal preference involved. retiredbosn, I am glad that things are working out in your favor.
  24. Hit the nail on the head Avid. It is very frustrating. One of these days I am gonna catch a fish in this area. Thanks to all who offered advice and suggestions.
