Sensitivity????
What makes a rod sensitive? is the graphite,? is it the guides? or is it the line? I tried some Roadwarrior brand fishing line (yo-zuri ultra soft) and I liked it and noticed a difference over the trilene xl I was fishing. I also tried some Bass PRo Shops xps flourocarbon and really could tell a difference with it. I used them on the some different rods and was really wondering if was the type line that mattered more so than the rod. thanks for your input

Snaps???
do you tie directly to your crankbaits or do you use snaps or swivel snaps??? Do you guys use snaps for anything(jigs, cranks, etc) or does everyone tie directly to the bait, and if so, why??? Thanks for your help.

Spinnerbait rod??
What rod do you guys use for spinnerbaits. I use mostly 3/8 or 1/2 ounce spinners. I am looking at cabelas xml C70SB which is a 7' mh fast action split grip xml rod. I have three cabelas xml rods and like them. I currently throw spinnerbaits with my 6' 6" medium power fast action xml rod. Just wondering what rods everyone uses and why.

Bass Pro Crankin' Stick
yeh, I got the rod for 39.00 and the pro-qualifier reel for 49.00. I am chomping at the bit for the reel to arrive so I can go get them wet. Bad news is it is only about 32 degrees outside and supposed to get colder this weekend.

Bass Pro Crankin' Stick
I just got my 7 medium bass pro Crankin stick. I have never used a rod specifically for crankbait fishing. I hope to get it wet before the water freezes over. Man, Winter sucks. I have a pro-qualifier 5.2:1 reel coming as well. I really like the feel of the rod and hope to be happy with the pair. The cost for both was 90.00.

cabelas prodigy baitcaster
Just wanted to let you guys know that cabelas has their prodigy baitcaster (made by Diawa) on sale for 69.00 if you purchase with their credit card. I have tried the shimano citica, pflueger trion, abu garcia sc, and I just get the best results with this reel. It feels like they made it for my hand. I had one and now I have two, and hopefully before they go off sale, I will have a couple more. Anyway, for those who may be interested, they are on sale in store.

crankbait rods
I have a birthday coming up and am going nuts with all the possibilities for all the different fishing stuff to get! one question, what do you fellows use for crankbait rods??? I am looking at bass pro qualifier rods, st. croix premier rods. why does st. croix have a crankbait rod and a glass crankbait rod. also considering bass pro crankin stick? budget is 100-125 dollars? anyone experienced with these or others in price range? thanks for your help

pro qualifier rods/reels vs. extreme rods/reels
anyone else care to offer an opinion on either the extreme series rods or reels or the pro-qualifier rods or reels
-
pro qualifier rods/reels vs. extreme rods/reels
does anyone else fish the extreme series and/or the pro qualifier rods? or even better, have used both?
-
pro qualifier rods/reels vs. extreme rods/reels
anyone have experience with both? I really like the looks of the new pro qualifier baitcaster and bass pro has some really good deals on their combos. BUT, right now you can get an extreme rod/reel combo for 99.00! that is about half price and they make their extreme reels in three different gear combos. right now I have a mish mash of equipment, different reels and different rods, and I think I am gonna sell some stuff and get more " matched sets" whether they be bass pro stuff, cabelas, or a certain type rod and one brand of reel. any input from folks who have used both the extreme rod or reel or the pro qualifier rods and reels, including spinning gear. Thanks so much

putting skirts on jigs, spinnerbaits, etc
How do you guys do this? when I do try to add a skirt, I end up with 7/8 of it to the back and little skirt "whiskers" at the head of the bait. Any help would be appreciated. Does someone make a tool for this or is their a technique I need to learn? thanks

How do you put on the skirts?
I bought a jig kit from bass pro shops that allows you to choose which skirt goes on which jig??? How do you get the skirts up on the head of the jig? Is there a tool made for this??? my jigs, instead of having a flowing jig have little stickers at the top and a really long back half of the skirt at the bottom? Help???

Preparing for winter
Several good tips. Layer...merino wool is absolutely the best, warmest, and most comfortable long underwear I have ever worn. Middle layer or layers need to insulate and retain body heat...wool, down, fleece are all good options. try some of each to find what works best to keep you warm and allow movement to fish. Outer Layer... MUST be at least windproof, preferably wind and waterproof (gore-tex, cabelas dry plus, etc) If your outer layer is not wind/waterproof the wind will cut thru your clothing and steal valuable body heat. boots, buy a size or two bigger than you normally wear, and wear at least one pair of wicking socks and one thick pair of merino wool socks. your toes MUST

looking for a good baitcast reel but low budget.
Sam, Cabelas has a baitcaster called the dimension plus. they currently offer it as a combo with one of their tourney trail rods. the rod itself sells everyday for 59.00. the combo is .....59.00. I have two of the reels. I am a weekend bank fisherman and they serve me well. they have a composite frame, that has not broken while hauling in several fish last year....ok, maybe not that many, but i did catch a couple of 20 inch largemouth bass and the shakespeare dimension plus reel handled them with no problem. I operate on a tight budget as well and have had really good luck with this combo. as an added benefit, Cabelas backs everything they sell with a100% guarantee.

flourocarbon line from cabelas uuugghhhh
i fish with three different lines currently> i am a hopeless gadget type person and have a need to try everything> i started fishing last summer and used trilene xl mono and really like it> i rarely get a backlash using eight _ ten_ or twelve pound trilene xl or xt> (forgive the weird punctuation markes< apparently something is wrong with my keyboard) anyway< i also use the yozuri ultrasoft recommended by Roadwarrior and like it pretty well for my baitcaster< i do get more "professional overruns some< more than the trilene< not but not excessive> i just purchased cabelas flourocarbon line and i swear i get backlashes every two or three casts> is the line that much different ___or am i doing something wrong? i bank fish with two or three different rods< and will cast one with mono several times< no backlash< one with the yozuri several times< maybe one or two minor overruns< and wham < several backlashes with the cabelas flourocarbon line> any thoughts or suggestions???? i set up my reels as the reel mechanic suggests in several different posts and they are the same reel>>>cabelas tournament zx hs reels> help???
