Space Monkey Surprise
I have had some success with space monkey, lizard, and caught a few last year and this on the rt craw, both t-rigged and as a jig trailer. Caught several fish last year swimming the rage craw. The only rt bait I haven't caught any fish on is the toad... I keep hearing price as an issue... I wait till they go on sale and load up. Not too long ago cabelas had the rage line for 25 or 30 % off( i think they were 4.20 a pack), I bought 15 different packs. I am an opportunistic shopper. I almost never pay full price for my fishing items. I wait for the sale or sales and then load up.

"presentation" from the bank
When casting from the bank, do you guys try not to make any big splash with your lure when casting parallel to the bank? I guess the question is " would it be better to make shorter casts trying not to make a big splash and move more often? or would it be better to cast much farther down the bank, risk the big splash entrance, and not have to move as much reducing the chances of spooking the fish with my movement???

Spinnerbait rod
Cabelas has their XML series of rods on sale for 69.00 right now. They have a 7 ft medium heavy power fast action spinnerbait specific rod in that line. I just bought one but have yet had the chance to fish it.

Do you care what you look like when your out fishing?
I like to look nice, but also want to be comfortable. I usually fish in a pair of clean khaki shorts, an under armour knock-off shirt (tucked in) and a ball hat or visor. I am clean, hair combed, teeth brushed, and presentable. The only thing that is questionable according to my fashion consultant whom I married 17 years ago is the asolo hiking boots I wear along with smartwool hiking socks. I fish alot of rip rap and am a bank fisherman. I like the sturdiness of the boots and the protection. She simply thinks they look dorky. ;D

compre crankbait vs. premier crankbait rods
Does anyone have experience with either of these. I am looking to purchase a 7ft medium cranking rod. I have a 7 foot mh crankin stick from bass pro and I like it. I was looking for something to throw smaller cranks and spinnerbaits in the 1/4 ounce range. budget is about 100.00. If you have fished either or both, please give your input. thanks so much for the help.

how important is the internet to you as a fishing resource
Priceless. I just started fishing a few years ago, and have found the information on the internet, and more specifically this site, invaluable. The members here have practically taught me how to fish. I usually fish alone or with my 8 year old daughter, so there is no mentor to help. Thanks to everyone here for all the advice, information, and willingness to help others.

What's your favorite crankbait?
I have had alot of luck with the rapala DT series. Mostly the DT 6 here in Ohio. I have used the blue gill pattern and the silver pattern mostly.

Baitcaster Reels Advice
A little over your budget, but currently Cabelas has their XML casting rods on sale for 69.00 and their prodigy baitcaster on sale for 74.00. Rod retails for 139.00 and reel retails for 99.00. You would be saving nearly 100.00 and you would have a very high quality outfit.

fish coming "unbuttoned"?
Most of the fish I have caught on the crankbait over the past couple weeks have been hooked on the back hook. This past weekend, I tried a new rapala dt6 in perch color. Fishing with the rapala and a brand new strike king redeye shad crawfish color, I hooked up on 19 fish, but lost ten of them during the retrieve. of the 9 fish I caught, most of them were hooked with the back hook. A couple were hooked with both hooks with the rapala.

fish coming "unbuttoned"?
I am using a 7' medium action bass pro shops crankin stick. I am using a sweeping to the side hook set. I have the fish on, I am reeling them in, I can feel them fighting, and then..whammo, they get off. I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

fish coming "unbuttoned"?
Need some help please. I have lost 10 fish the past three days. I have been fishing with a crankbait and/or a lipless crank( rapala DT 6, Strike king red eye shad). The lures were new and the hooks are very sharp. I am using a bass pro crankin stick 7 foot medium action with 17 lb. mono line. The reel is a bass pro pro qualifier with a 5.2:1 ratio. Anyway, I feel the strike, give sideways sweep on rod , and reel. I really tried to analyze what was going and and I am stumped. I kept strong tension on the rod and was reeling consistently. I would feel the fish and then, boom, nothing. Two of them came off right next to the bank. Any help would be appreciated.

is there anything decent with a BPS name on it?
I have last years pro qualilfier baitcaster in 5.4:1 cranking edition. I have only used it maybe 10 times, but it casts very well and is extremely smooth. Well worth the 49.00 I paid for it. Now, if I could only catch a fish with it.

Which floating frog?
Do you guys modify the soft, hollow-bodied frogs in any way?

How would you fish this scenario?
Thanks to all who have added input so far. I have garnered some good tips from this thread. I rarely throw a buzzbait, so I will have to try that. I also will have to try casting into the wind as was suggested. It is amazing the stuff I learn on here just by asking a question. Thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge.

Which floating frog?
I have rage toads and shad as well as some stanley ribbits. Which of the "floating" frogs do you guys use. I know there are spro and snagproof, and cabelas has some branded as their own. Which do you guys use and why?? Also, any fishing/rigging tips would be welcomed. Thanks so much.

any topwater frog fishers out there
I fish the stanley ribbits alot, usually throw one every time I go fishing. I am gonna try a couple of the snagproog floating frogs this summer. I have fun with the ribbits, it is exciting when you get a strike, but they can be few and far between.....for me anyway.
