  1. I have a symmetre as well and really like it. However, I would also look at cabelas tournament zx spinning reel made by Diawa as well asl the Pflueger president. My suggestion to you would be go to cabelas or bass pro or local tackle shop and play around with the ones you like.
  2. Mine came on a jitterbug two summers ago. It was still dark out and I caught a 22 inch long largemouth bass...scared the crap out of me. I have no idea how much it weighed..didn't have a scale. Also, and this is important.... I caught this fish with a Zebco 33 spincasting outfit bought at walmart for 19.99. ;D
  3. I had alot of success this past year with zoom brush hogs and gycb flappin hogs. I don't know if there is a best. I caught fish on several different colors of brush hogs on same lake, mostly in same area.
  4. Does anyone watch the Scott Martin Challenge? I just watched it and found out he is Roland Martins son. I did not know that. I like the format of the show and found it entertaining and a little educational.
  5. I have a black cavitron buzzbait that I bought after several folks recommended here. I have caught one baby bass, weighed maybe 4 or 5 ounces, came off right at shoreline and I spent 20 minutes fishing it out of the rocks so it wouldn't die. Not the baits fault, but at least so far, it has not worked well for me. I will keep trying, but I have caught fish on a jitterbug fished over the same exact area as the buzzbait.
  6. Anyone paint their sinkers? I tried coating with epoxy after painting them, but it is so hard to use. Would clear coat nail polish hold up?
  7. I lost my father in law two and a half years ago. He took my daughter fishing quite a bit. I never liked to fish...so he took her. Well, when he passed, I started taking my daughter fishing. At first, it was boring for both of us. But I had a couple friends at work who are avid fishermen helping me and I found this site. After about a month and 6-7 trips to the lake(and catching some fish), I was hooked. My daughter is now 8 and still goes fishing with me. We take coloring books, snacks, books to read, and as of this Christmas, a hand-held video game will be coming. That way if she gets board fishing, she has other interesting things to do. Typically, She fishes for about 30-40 minutes the first go round, then she will come back and fish a few more times. We go home when she says she is ready. IF I didn't have to, I wouldn't work and would just go fishing. I can't believe how badly I have the bug. We were going to buy a boat this spring, but I recently was downsized and lost my job. When we do get a boat, I think even mama will be along for the ride then. I told her, you don't even have to fish, you can just look good and I'll do the fishing. Sooner or later, the whole family will be fishing. ;D
  8. I have had the most luck with the red eye shad..chrome with blue back. I have also fished rat-l traps, super spots, and rattlin rapala.
  9. I have one that is two years old, and another one I just bought. The older one has been my main reel and is a very nice, very smooth reel. I have no problems with backlashes, and reel is smooth today as day I bought it. I do like the "swept" handles on the new reels, but for 64.00 which is what I paid for first reel, you can't beat it. Look for them to go on sale. I also bought the new one for 69.00 during an in-store sale. Great value.
  10. when using the O-ring, is it correct that you do not hook the worm, you just hook the o-ring??? Thanks
  11. Has anyone ever fished these crankbaits???? If so, what has been your experience with them?
  12. Thanks for the heads up, and Congratulations on your first granddaughter.
  13. What equipment do you guys use for the wacky rig? Spinning or baitcasting, size & type line, which worm, hooks by size/type, and do you use the rubber o-ring or other type "re-inforcement" to extend life of the worm. Have never tried this technique so please be specific. Once again, thanks for everyones help.
  14. I fish with brush hogs, baby brush hogs, flappin hogs, and gonna try some big worms. How do you folks decide which hook to use??? i have been using mostly 2/0, 3/0, and 4/0 gamakatsu EWG for my stuff to this point. Any advice, pointers, or experiences welcomed. Thanks
  15. Catt, I am 45 and after having 4 major surgeries on my left knee, It only bends about 90 degrees. I am a bank fishermen and particularly have good success around the rip-rap on my home lake. I have to be very, very, I mean methodically careful, when walking, standing, moving because, according to my doctor, my next surgery is a total replacement. I also am the only fisherman that I see, ever, warm up before starting to fish. I have had a rotator cuff repaired in my right shoulder and absolutely, positively do not to repeat that process. By the way, I am not sure If I am Team Pampers, or Team depends, but either way I will keep some diaper rash ointment with me just in case ;D
  16. The purchase took place at a local "fishermans flea market" at a local elks club. I think everything was on the up and up. I know ignorance is not an excuse for the law, but I would use the excuse the bait monkey made me do it!!!!
  17. I know, I know. I was just so happy I had to tell someone. Plus, I just recently lost my job after 10 years of loyal service and am looking at a summer of little to no fishing purchases. So I was thrilled to find such a good deal.
  18. I just purchased a 3700 size plano box with 100 pieces of yammamoto senkos in it, 40 pcs of various colored swim senkos, and the rest regular 4 and 5 inch senkos and a 3600 plano box with 80 various yammamoto baits in it, plus 5 packs of yammamoto baits including 1 each of flappin hog, creature, swim senko, craw, and twin tailed grub...For 17.00 bucks!!!
  19. I saw the show as well. I think Zona is hilarious. He has so much fun doing his thing. I wish I had that much fun at work.
  20. Here is an update. Mr. Brown sent me not only one replacement, but two along with a strike king hat and a color catalog of their products. I will try the "different" crank and let everyone know how it performs. I am a strike king customer for life. I think they not only resolved the problem but went over and above. I would have been happy with a replacement lure. Great Job Strike King!
  21. Chris Brown is who responded to my email. Message was short and sweet. He replied" No problem. We will gladly replace." I never thought about the "different being better" aspect. I think I will keep it and see if that rings true. Thanks to all who graciously offered to take it off my hands ;D
  22. I received a strike king crankbait kit from Bass pro as a gift from my wife. Upon checking it out, the series 6 chartruese sexy shad crankbait does not rattle like it is supposed to. It sounds very different from the series 6 sexy shad crank. I emailed strike king and told them of the problem, and received a reply in two days that they would replace the crankbait. It is coming in the mail. No questions asked, no return shipment asked... just a new one will be mailed to you. I am happy with the response and will continue to purchase their products.
  23. Does anyone have any experience with either the swarming hornet or blakemore rollin' runner heads? What plastic trailer would be used? How do you fish it??? Thanks for your help.
