  1. Thanks Wayne. do you have a favorite brand of spinnerbait that you feel would fit the bill? I have some strike king and booyah mostly in 1/2 ounce.
  2. I feel the same way about a senko. It seems everyone on here and at all the local tackle shops catch fish on senkos. I can't even seem to get a nibble.
  3. my favorite to fish is the stanley ribbit ( which may be replaced by my new strike king rage toads), but I have caught alot of really good fish on a black jitterbug.
  4. Mostly Tappan lake. Also fish Clendening and Salt Fork. What about you 6pointbuck2003, do fish any of these same lakes?
  5. Thanks Derek. When you have the 10" worm texas rigged, do you hop it along the bottom, do you lift it and let fall kinda in the same place, or do you slowly drag it along back to you. Please keep in mind I fish from the bank.
  6. Fishing from the bank, how would you guys fish these two different style worms? Please give details including equipment preferences. thanks.
  7. Wow. Thanks for the informative post WRB. I had no idea they were that fast.
  8. Thanks Matt. I don't reel as fast as I can. I was just trying to get an idea....of how fast they can swim. I normally work even my spinnerbaits slowly and erratically. I was wondering if maybe I could entice some more bites by trying a faster retrieve. Thanks for everyone's input.
  9. ok. That is good to know. I have never seen a bass swim ( Like to attack prey or escape predator) and was wondering if maybe I was cranking my spinnerbaits too fast. Thanks
  10. anyone know how fast your basic largemouth bass can swim? Specifically, I have reels geared at 6.3:1 and 7.1:1? If I am reeling a bait on either one, can I reel faster than the fish can swim? Assuming I am fishing with a spinnerbait or some other type lure that you crank consistently?
  11. I emailed Edwin Evers personally this past summer and he stated that he uses the pro qualifier reels and rods. In answer to my question, right off the shelf, same as you and I would buy. He also uses one of the Rick Clunn rods for cranking. Very nice, personable, answered my email promptly and seemed genuinely glad to do it. I root for him on the Elite tour.
  12. Brian, that surprises me. I almost always snag something with this lure. I have not caught any real big fish, but i usually catch bass/crappie with it. I did catch a 16 inch and 12 inch largemouth this weekend on white 1/4 ounce roadrunner jig with a 4 inch chartreuse grub as a trailer.
  13. Ok. thanks for the tips. I really like this lure combination. Also, as I watch what other folks are fishing with, I have never seen this combination used. Most folks around here are pitchers/flippers. Thanks again for the input.
  14. What other same types of lures are out there that might be more snag resistant? I have used with pretty good success the 1/4 ounce roadrunner w/small spinner blade using a 4 inch single tailed grub as the trailer. The problem is, with their squared head, if you bump something, they just load up and it is very difficult to get them free. I fish from the bank. I lost 6 of them this weekend. I caught two fish. I like the idea, but can't spend 6-10 dollars a weekend of these. any suggestions?
  15. What kind did you get including lens color?
  16. I can't speak for all companies, but Rapala has each lure listed with the correct hook size listed on their website.
  17. I really enjoy Hank Parkers' show. I like his easy-going down home approach. I also find his show educational. Congrats to you on meeting one of your favorites. I don't think that is cheesy at all.
  18. Has anyone fished the new berkley shock rods yet? If so, how did you find them? Thanks
  19. That is too bad. I really like him..seems like a genuine good guy on bass pros. I have had a kidney stone and can tell you from first hand experience, lots of pain.
  20. Kinda reminds me of the "grizzly man" Timothy Treadwell story. If you remember , he thought the grizzlys were his friend, that is, right up until the point where one of the grizzly bears ate him... and his girlfriend. Wild animals are not pets, that includes monkeys, snakes, lions, & tigers, & bears...Oh my.
  21. I am amazed at his thought process and attention to detail. He apparently has a good sense of humor as well.
  22. Does anyone here regularly fish either Tappan lake or Clendening lake?
  23. I saw on a tv program where Edwin Evers was crankbait fishing. He said when he is fishing around alot of brush piles he reels until he hits a limb, stops reeling for a second, and then continues to reel. I thought the idea was to crash the plug off the cover so it would deflect erratically to trigger strikes??? I understand about maybe easing the plug over the cover so it doesn't get hung up, but doesn't that defeat the purpose??? Thanks again for all your input.
