baitcaster rods
Im not really sure i understand your questions but ill try....Baitcasters do have a piece of "plastic" that comes out that your fingers go in between to help with grip - my thumb doesnt go anywhere near it -not sure why you call it a thumb piece. Spinning rods do not have that piece, the base of the spinning reel acts as that piece. The length of the rod has nothing to with whether it is spinning or casting. Length comes down to preference, some prefer them shorter for better accuracy but sacrifice distance - hope that helps

Where do the "spots" hang as compared to smallies?

Just Wanted to Share My Thoughts about Bass Resource
I assume you meant that as a joke. Just because we are bass fishermen doesn't make us more well-behaved than any other fishermen, or any other group of people for that matter. The rules that have been set by Glenn are why this is a good forum. Those who don't want to abide by those rules don't participate, which results in far fewer knotheads on this forum. well - kinda.....Just trying to say that their might not be as many problems if a Ford guy is posting in an exclusive Ford forum, they all like the same thing..I didnt mean that as Bass fisherman we would jump all over a walleye guy or vice versa just because, but to be real about it - some debates would probably heat up just like in an "All car model" forum.

Just Wanted to Share My Thoughts about Bass Resource
Never did, the cast comes around once in a while for appearances at malls and stuff but he is the only character that has never been here yet

Just Wanted to Share My Thoughts about Bass Resource
All true (except, some people really choose st croix over g loomis? ) ....Depends on the setup of the forum, if this was "Fishing Resource" and we had a bunch of Walley, trout and musky fisherman we might see more issues here ;D 5 points to anyone that can find the easter egg in this post!

New to baitcasters; need help!
can you please repost this link, I cannot get it to work. As far as the question about difference between Cast Control and the brakes....I dont know and im not sure many people really understand the difference because explanations are never really clear as to the job that each does and what makes them different....I can loosen one or the other and cant tell a difference between what each does that is different...Seems like 2 ways to do the same thing....I never touch the brakes from the time i buy the real! I only use cast control - i can cast a mile and only backlash when im not careful and cast into the wind, for whatever thats worth Think of it like this.... The magnetic and centrifugal brakes control the startup inertia of the cast. So when you cast really hard and get a backlash right away you need to turn on more brakes inside. The cast control knob controls the line at the end of the cast. If you are getting backlashes at when your lure hits the water you need to tighten the knob. Starting out, you can never have them too tight. Start extremely tight and loosen them as you go. Use really heavy weights and really cheap line starting out also. You'll find when you are proficient, you won't even need a tight cast control knob. Mine is about screwed all the way off. That helps, now in the case i mentioned of casting into the wind then, what would be correct - tighten the brakes or cast control? i would think either one would help

chronarch vs revo premier
Well, i dont have either one...The only thing i can offer is that I have the previous versions and if i had to choose between those two i would go with the Chronarch ;D Its such a great reel and handles small baits with ease So for me personally I would choose the new Chronarch

What is a good Spinning rod for under $80
I have 2 of these and i like them a lot.....Thinking about trying out the Lamiglass Excels (a few $$ more) but i havent heard much about them: http://www.***.com/descpageRDSLAMIGLAS-LEBSRS.html But if you can get an HMG for $70 that would be the rod to get ! try not to worry about the rod being black, you can come back!! :-X

I think I've gone too far...
i was buying rods and reels all the time for the past couple years - it was fun! I'm going to try to keep it to one new baitcast and one new spinning set up per year to stay with the latest and greatest...Hope i can stick to it. I already have tons of stuff i havent even used but as far as the wife is concerned, i "needed it" !

Lucky Craft Redemption
the price is for the detail - they sure are nice looking...but you dont need that kind of detail on a reaction bait like a spinnerbait...War-eagles prove that....They catch fish all the time and the head on them is plain as can be.

Seeking Portable Boat Small Lake And Pond Use
Im actually considering one of these smaller boats too for 10-50 acre ponds but wasnt sure of the stability because i would want to stand. Its just a one man boat 6 1\2 feet long but it will fit inside my SUV and thats a big thing....Id prefer the longer 2 man just for the space but i dont want to get into getting a utility trailer for it and all that....I just want something to quickly hop around ponds with....Do you guys think this would be ok standing in (i guess im average build 6' 190 pounds) Heres what im looking at: http://www.broadrivergroup.com/store/index.cfm?action=ViewDetails&ItemID=2

Quick Drop Shot tackle question
I have never used this technique but will be giving it a try very shorty on a lake that people are doing well using the technique now. Im not sure of a good standard hook size to use....the local Dicks or Gander Mnt do not have any drop shot hooks so i have to order them....Im probably going to use something like Roboworms straight tail, Flashtrix and maybe Jackals Crosstail shad...Any tips on what hooks and size I should get, thanks guys
