  1. I understand the enjoyment of collecting antique rods/reels/lures. But too actually be able to acquire those items in mint condition is very rare. And the price, unbelievable! As for the more recent equipment such as the Ito's, they are a gem!! I would love to have one on the wall! Maybe one day....maybe, one day....*sigh* ;D For now, as close to antique as I get is reels from the 80's. I have a Quantum QL 250, bought at a flea market for $20, with a graphite frame and graphite spool, 2 bearings and it still works. Currently, I really, really want a Daiwa Prolite...I don't know what it is, but it's so bad@$$!!
  2. I'd have to disagree.....I think they are bad@$$!! It's like the wood paneling on the old school station wagons. I like it!! 8-)
  3. Did you see the video on TW. It's got a real nice wiggle to it. I bought a couple myself and can't wait to give it a shot this spring. http://www.***.com/icast08.html?ccode=SEBCRANK
  4. Good deal! That's one way to stick it to the baitmonkey.
  5. citica 200D and accurist PT. I'm sure everything is put back correctly with schematic in hand. I've used them as is and no problems to report. It's just the gears meshing the bugs me.
  6. I've tried SuperLube, Abu grease, Hot Sauce to grease the gears and after I put the reel back together, it doesn't feel smooth. As I'm turning the handle, I can still feel and hear the gear teeth mesh. I've checked to make sure the teeth aren't broken and everything. I've tried putting a lot of grease on the gear and tried using a very light coat of grease and it still feels the same. What am I doing wrong??
  7. Cabela's got 'em for $60. Grab it while you can! Very nice reel!

I use to have one....but it's in a tree just high enough that I can't get to it. :'( It's pricey but very nice. Casts a mile, very soft plastic body so no problems with hooking up. I found that it had better wobbling action on a slow retrieve and it has a belly weight like the spros so it'll sit on it's belly. I don't know how well it's gonna hold up to the northerns tho.
  9. Anyone know if this rod is a one piece or telescopic? Also what are you're thoughts on this rod?
  10. ;D ;D I'd like to see that! As for the Citica....I have a Citica 200D also. It is bulky and heavy but it casts/retrieves so nice and one helluva workhorse reel! Of course, I've thought about getting a newer model but I just can't bring myself to letting it go.
  11. My first post.. Lastly The uglystick is temporary, what will be a good rod to pair this up with? As far as rods go, Im leaning towards either the new Shimano Cumara Cast Rod 7'2" Med Hvy http://www.***.com/descpageRDCSHIMANO-SCMCR.html Good choice. X2 Also if you have your lure/practice plug up closer to the tip of the rod, instead of leaving a foot of line, it'll help you feel when the rod loads up before you cast. That helped me when I first started.
  12. I saw it on ebay. Then did a google on Mustad and found they do make Mustad mono. Thor and UL Max, I think.
  13. Anyone have any experience with the Mustad Lines??
  14. I thought I was bad! Over $700 in one month!!!.... I'll buy the next round! You got some nice deals though! I hate ebay....
  15. I had a problem with my switch not wanting to budge either. So I took it apart cleaned and lubed and now the switch moves back and forth with ease!
  16. ;D It took me a little while to get used to reeling with my right hand and learning to work baits with my left but well worth it! Half the time you don't even notice you've switched hands. If only I could cast with my left.
  17. Thanks for all the replies. If I find a good deal, just might have to try them out.
  18. One of my first rods was a Daiwa Megaforce rod, which had similar steel guides, and after awhile the guides developed line grooves. Which pretty much rendered the rod useless. What is you are your experience with the Berkley guides? Is it really that much better than ceramic guides? Has anyone had any problems with the guides developing grooves over time?
  19. BPS Slim Dog. I like that it has no rattles and slits on the throat for water spittin'.
  20. Gander Mountain has them for $99.95, free shipping on orders over $50. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=411485&pdesc=Quantum_Energy_PT_Baitcast_Reel&cname=Baitcast&aID=504A1A&merchID=4006&r=view
  21. For sensitivity, would a telescopic rod be as sensitive as a one piece? Or does it not make a difference? Would balancing a rod help with sensitivity?
