  1. 1. Pay to have a certified marine mechanic check it out. 2. No 3. Depends on how it is loaded and how you run it No Tracker can tell you IMO, you are foolish to take anyone's word except a good, reputable marine mechanic as far as the condition of the boat. It will be the best money you ever spend. Unless your sister's father in law is a certified marine mechanic, how would he know if the motor is in good shape? Just because it is running good does not mean it's a good motor. Heck, it's 21 years old. Everything in the top end could be carboned up and/or loose as heck. If it has not been run anymore than you say the carbs are going to have to have a rebuild just as soon as you pump all that new ethanol/gas mix in it for the first time.
  2. Join the crowd. Glad it was not any worse. Never a good time or place for that.
  3. It's not new. It's all set up for the TV cameras.
  4. Are you saying that over the first 2 or 3 days of the event you could have caught enough fish to be in the top 10 on the FLW tour event and on a lake that you've never fished? Your in the wrong line of work then I think the key word was "We". FLW tournaments are individual weight only. It's a whole other story when the money is paid and you idle by that checkout boat on the way out.
  5. Just let me know. If it's close to the lake we may have to do some looking. I'm digging out my maps and refreshing myself on my offshore cordinates and see if I can find a bunch more we can check out. There's got to be a ton of those offshore ridges and underwater points sitting way off shore that no one is fishing.
  6. I think I'll just get drunk.
  7. You should be scheduling appointments with a specialist instead of telling us. Go get yourself checked out. Do it quickly. Good luck and I hope everything is well.
  8. Zel, you are a lucky man. My father was in the Navy during the war and my uncle flew over England and Germany in a Fortress. I served, but it was in the ugly war. You know, the one everyone hates, and says we lost.
  9. At least a gallon of whole milk a week for me. I love it. Wife makes me get my own as I am known to drink it right out of the bottle. She stays POd about that.
  10. Someone better notify the owner of the place. Looks like he's in for a shock.
  11. It just takes some driving to get to the water I fish. There are no lakes close to Houston(Except Lake Conroe) without driving a ways. Fact of life if you want to fish get up early or get there the night before. I average 1,200-1,600 miles a month on the trailer if you go at each weekend..
  12. These are one way distances to the ramp: Caney Creek(Sam Rayburn) 3 hrs. Frontier Park (Toledo Bend) 3 1/2 hrs. Stowaway (Conroe) 1 1/2 hr This is the closest to me of all East Ramp(Lk Nacog.) 3 hr. Lake Palestine 4 hr. these are just a few. As you can see there is nothing close to me. Each weekend is a 3-5 hour tow to the lake and back. Lots of miles.
  13. If I feel the need to play with one it will be in the boat, not the water.
  14. That just sucks. Prayers to all. I hate to hear stories like that.
  15. Blue hairs rule. They own the road, the lakes, and the front porch.
  16. I do most of my maintenance myself: Tuneup(Yearly) Pack bearings(Every 6 months) Change bearings and races(Every 12-18 months) Impeller((12-15 months) Service lower unit(Yearly) Batteries(18 months) Fuel Filters(Quarterly) If you decide to change your bearings and races make sure you have access to a press. If you try to drive them in with a hammer and punch you will swell them and cause bearing failure. The impeller is an easy fix once you have seen it done. Best thing a boater can do is make friends with a good marine mechanic.
  17. Reguardless, it's a mess.
  18. I use one and it's a big one. Ten foot handle with a big wide opening. Learned my lesson a while back fishing by myself. If I had it then I would be lots of dollars ahead.
  19. The first 100.00 you spend will be the most important. Pay a reputable shop to check it out instead of just throwing parts at it. You might spend 500.00 and know no more than you do now otherwise.
  20. I own a Skeeter and I'm here to tell you that that 210 champion is good in the rought water. Biggest thing though is the operator. Nothing makes up for experience in a driver. They are all good and bad depending on who's behind the wheel and at the throttle.
  21. It is the Sospenders. I hate the neck design on this thing. I'll just let the wife wear it.
  22. Yep and I have a friend that prefers to fish the shaddows as the moon moves. Guess it takes all kinds.
  23. Last weekend while fishing a tournament on Sam Rayburn with over 7,500 entries a 14' jon boat with a 35 Mercury that had to be at least 25 years old came running up this creek I was fishing. When he turned sideways I noticed he had Arkansas tags on his boat. I ask him if he towed down here to fish and he said he did. Took him nine and a half hours to get to the lake. It was not bothering him at all that he was in that boat. Personally I hope he won some money.
  24. I'm with you on this one, I cannot get comfortable in mine and have actually gone back to the original. I did not like wearing it all the time. I don't care what the adds say, they are not very comfortable in my opinion. I am in no way trying to tell someone not to wear the dang thing. It's just not for me.
