  1. X2, but first check to make sure your unit is not allready running the updated software. After uploading the software, there are routes you must set up on your unit for it to run the Navionics card. Just plugging it in the unit will not activate it. If you need the routing directions just let me know and I will send them to you.
  2. I have used both and have never had a problem with either. Just a matter of preference.
  3. Twenty pound sacks are hard to come by. Congratulations on the third place. How nice is it to be staring back down the order of finish instead of looking up? Good job.
  4. Someone had to do it. I picked February, but only if you pick and choose carefully. The second and third day following a warm up can be fabulous.
  5. Wide wobble crankbait, chatterbait, large worms, spinnerbaits with a colorado type blade, or anything else that will move water. Fish tight to any cover. Good luck.
  6. Matt, hope you were not on the water yesterday when that front came through. It was plenty bad. I watched it from my mother's home in Nacogdoches. I heard the wind down south hit 70mph.
  7. My fishing partner lives in Zavalla two miles from the Monterrey Park ramp. I'll be staying there. My cell is 281 224-8853. Jack
  8. I punch in a code and mine goes off. I'll leave it at that...
  9. New world of sponsership opportunities.
  10. Springtime in the north country. A time when you do not have to run the heater with the windows open.
  11. Very easily could have killed a ton of people. Property can be replaced. Lots of very lucky people.
  12. Way too much info here...
  13. I like their ratio...(One shot, one kill). Wonder if they will coutrmartial the guy that missed.
  14. If they call that a perch, how big do the really bigguns get? That thing is huge. sorry for the hijack...
  15. Wesley I am fishing it friday and Sunday and our club tournament on Toledo on saturday. Hollar at me and we can exchange locations and information if you like. Good luck.
  16. X2, I did just about the same thing. Trying to help her until I noticed several of the checks I gave her were being cashed a a local liquor store. the judge did not take that kindly. We got the lawyers together and set it up the way it should have been.
  17. Fished the midlake area Friday afternoon and Saturday. Friday: Caught three keepers on a 3/8oz spinnerbait and 6 non keepers on a worm . fish were located in 4-7 ft. out on the first drop. Saturday fished the first drops in five different locations and did not get a bite. finally backed off to the 8-12 ft level and found some fish relating to the larger timber out off the mouths of several ditches and creeks. Caught two just over 4 and a three on the first mouth i fished with a 7 1/4" Lake fork ringworm in camo. stuck a good fish on a black/blue jig next to a large tree located off the edge of a creek mouth but he wrapped me up and finally sawed me off. Never got a look at him. Had several more good solid keepers and all the decent fish came from 8-12 foot of water. Never got a bite on a frog, buzzbait, or any other top water lure.
  18. First off, there is no such thing as a dumb question. Reguardless how long a lot of us have been on the water just remember we were in your situation at one time. It's only dumb if you are afraid to ask it. I fish a worm depending on the situation. If weedless I will twich it along with pauses so it can fall. This is exactly the way I fish a wacky worm. Occasionally you will need to soak it(Let it sit without any movement). Several weeks ago I won a tournament on toledo Bend on a wacky worm and the only way to get bit was to cast it out and let it sink. You either got bit or not. Never had a bite after I started the worm back to the boat. Texas rig, I will cast it out and either drag it a few inches or pick it up off the bottom with the rod. I never use the reel to move a worm. It is only used to take up slack in the line. Occasionally I will pick up the worm and move it a few inches and twitch it several times before I let it fall back to the bottom. I usually let the worm fall on a slack line so that it will not move toward the boat. I want it to fall as straight down as possible to keep it in a strike zone as long as possible. I use the rod to pick up the slack and get a feel for the worm. It is at this time you will usually feel the fish. Hope this will help you and good luck. Jack Welcome to the forum! It would help with your answers if you will put your location in your avator. Fishing varies a lot around the country and you will get more feedback from the locals around your location.
  19. You will need to add reinforcement somewhere. Anytime you do a modification like that you are compromising the integrity. Good luck
  20. Straight shank hooks work on the thinner worms. Mustad EWG in 5/0 is my go to hook for the senko style. FYI, unless I am fishing a braid I always use the thin wire hooks. Seems to give better penetration.
  21. Most guys around here rank their dogs above their wives. Makes sense to me.
  22. I will be happy to furnish my waypoints on Falcon when the time comes. As Matt said the spawn will be strong at that time. If the water is up, bring a hand saw. It will help you to reach areas that many will not attempt to fish. Just let me know.
  23. Prayers sent. Sad story.
  24. Looks like a new shaft is in your near future.
  25. Anytime I am on the water. You will be surprised the number of fish you will catch that will not be any longer than that worm.
