  1. That guy is no partner. He's a user. Better off without him. Find someone else, I can't believe you put up with it this long with that jerk.
  2. Take it back and get you a hand operated Minnkota. End of cable and all associated problems. I did it 16 years ago and have never looked back
  3. I too would have asked him to move over; however, it looks to me as if you had plenty of room to launch.
  4. The 565s are great units. I had two on my boat for a while. I have upgraded to the larger screen(LCX-15MT GPS/Sonar) units and even though they are monochrome instead of the color I could not go back to a smaller screen unit. I bought both on several sites and paid 200.00 a piece for them(Complete) and have had no trouble with either. I also purchased a new in the box X-96 for 100.00 off another site. If you look around you can get some deals so you might be able to up grade without spending an arm and a leg. FYI, I sold my 565 to a member on this site for 100.00 so just look around or contact me and I will give you the site info that I purchased the units from. I am not going to advertise for them here out of respect for Glenn, RW, LBH, and the rest of the site mods.
  5. Excellent job on those ladies. Nice bunch of fish.
  6. Our club did away with the ten fish limit years ago. Personally I think it's a waste of resources. During the summer months we actually drop down to a three fish limit during July and August and no one has complained.
  7. Fished it last Saturday. Water is coming up and the ones I caught were on a 3/8 Black buzzbait and a jig. Nothing over 3 1/2 but did manage to put 5 in the boat that would go around 13 lbs. I put in at Stow-a-Way and went North fishing the scattered grass along the flooded banks. fish were hitting the buzzbait about two feet out from the grass line. Yess there is grass along the flooded banks. Good luck.
  8. congratulations, what a great day ya'll had.
  9. You a better man than I. Glad you kicked his arse and did not let it ruin your day. If you had taken the time to move the boat out away from everything, shut everything off, and filled the front deck with uppercuts you would not have to worry about sharing the boat with this idiot ever again. I commend you for your patience. Congratulations and best of luck. Jack
  10. Bass are ambushers, flushers, and masters of an opportunity. They feed when the opportunity presents its self. Many large bass will have a milk run down through an area and actually flush the bait out of a bush or something similar and dine on the results. Some will set up in an area and wait for the bait to move into their area, while others are on the move chasing the left overs that the smaller school fish have ambushed. Many spend their lives in the shallows while others never see the bank in their lifetime. Born in a tree fork in the middle of the lake and as long as the prey is in the area will spend all their days there.
  11. Catt I sent you a pm. My wife's sister will be staying at our home this coming week due to the flood water in her neighborhood. Wife told me to go kick some bass. She's flying out to Pennsylvania Monday morning and won't be home until late Friday so I have the week to rip some lips. Long Mike, I can't think of anyone I would rather kick out of my boat. Give you time to work on your knot tying and learning that your braid is not good for a year on the spool. FYI, your phone is ringing. Hey Glenn, It would be nice if we could come up with a B/R shirt and hat to wear during the shindig.
  12. Carpet Fewer chances to slip and fall Keeps the noise level down
  13. I would agree with RW and Catt on this one. Also examine your hooks. Some of the cheaper jigs on the market couldn't penetrate a twinkie. Buy the better grade jigs, sharpen the hooks, and trim the weedguard down.
  14. If they are on and off the bed it will be next to immpossibe to get them to bite. Try to find the ones that are locked on and then throw plastics and keep changing up until you can get bit. If a bass stands his/her ground just keep at it and let it sit as long as you can stand it before makling it move. Good luck
  15. $40.00 bucks at BPS will only get you a handful of plastics. Senkos Jigs Craw worms Squarebill crank in Chartruse/Blue this time of year. This blows your budget, but the B/M will approve.
  16. I fish both and could care less either way. At times I'm not sure if the silver weight might not cause a little extra flash and could entice a fish to move on the lure. I do carry an assortment of permanent markers with me just in case I feel I need to tone down a weight or make changes to a crankbait.
  17. First break Mouths of any(Reguardless of size) crushed rock pockets up and down the rock banks. First and secondary points into each spawning bay or creek. Any grass or cover sitting near the site of the beds. Main lake points. Rock piles within site of the spawning areas, Flats off the side of any creek. Fish with: Plastics Suspending rogues Square bill cranks Buzzbait in black/Gold blade
  18. I was self taught early on. Joined a very competitive club(Nacogdoches Bass Club) at 18. Got tired of getting my arse kicked so I picked the top fishermen out of this club and picked their brains and begged until they would allow me to fish with them. Kept my mouth shut, watched, and listened. Spent hours on the water making every mistake you could make. Still kept getting my arse kicked, finally a light went on and I started putting a few things together. Most of the better fishermen did not want to have a young punk in the boat so I followed from a distance and watched them as best as I could. No I did not go in and fish their spots, just wanted a look at the types of water they were fishing at different times of the year. I made myself a promise that I would help the younger anglers as they were coming up. I have kept that promise and have spent many days in the boat with the younger guys trying to help them out. I am always approachable and without actually telling them the exact spot have tried to help them as much as possible. Many years ago a woman approached me about letting her young son fish a tournament on lake Sam Rayburn with me as most did not want a youngster(I think he was about 15 or so) fishing this money tournament with them. I agreed and although we did not win any money that day it was as for as I know his first competitive tournament. His name a lot of you might recognize. It is Bradley Stringer a touring BASS pro that has won several tournaments through the years and is a really great fisherman. I ran into him several years ago outside Coleman's store in Zavalla up at Rayburn. We had not seen each other in many years, but he made a point to stop a minute and say hello.
  19. Now that's a good read. You have a standing invitation to get yourself out here and enjoy this area if you like. Heck, there are tons of tournaments every weekend as well as every evening of the week, so if that's what you want let's go see if we can win a couple. You don't need to worry about a place to stay either. Front bedroom is always open. Just give me a few days notice and let's get it on. Jack
  20. Most are either mounting on the jackplate or the T/M. Do not mount it inside. It will not work.
  21. Congratulations on the new boat. Let us know what the GPS says.
  22. If this guy actually knows what he is doing, that is one hell of a deal.
  23. Anytime you increase the size of a cylinder you MUST increase the size of the piston accordingly. If you are going to do it, make sure it is done right. Don't go in the motor and just repair one cylinder. Suck it up and get the job done right. Going rates in this area run about 600.00 a hole to rebuild that model. I would be more concerned about the shape of the boat myself. The transom, floor, and stringers will be a major job that if needed will run anywhere from 3,500-5,000 to repair correctly. Good luck.
  24. Just curious, wondering how many bass and what was your weight for the two days. You never did say. BTY, I would like just your count and weight, not your partners. Saying you would have caught the other fish he caught is out of line. Way too many variables to count those chickens(Bass). So, let's hear it. If it's not too much to ask, give us the total count and weight for the both of you. Better yet, post the weight slips for us all to see. While you are at it, get a hold of yourself. If you feel you can do better, just go for it.
  25. Due to the pig flu the state has cancelled all UIL school activities until May 11. This includes any and everything reguarding outside activities. This includes band, choir, sports, track, everything. We have a few cases around the state, but I was not aware it was this serious.
