Boat for Tournament
All you have to do is chunk it in front of the right fish. Good luck.

Flipping mono or braid
If I am pitching or flipping scattered rock or timber I usuall use 20# mono. If its grass it is either 50 or 65# braid.

How often do you..............
I wipe them down after each use. If it gets fished much at all the line comes off for a respool. I use backing on all reels so it's not as much line as one would think. I will bench them about every six months or so.

What to keep and What not to keep.
I'm always fishing for the larger bites. Never, ever throw out a smaller keeper unless you are culling up the weight.

Boat for Tournament
If you are embarrassed that's a personal problem you need to address. You are probably misjudging the guys in the larger boats. They have all been there and only a very small percentage will think that. Get in the game and have fun. You'll probably make some new friends. Good luck.

McDonald's® Big Bass Splash® Lake Sam Rayburn
I was there and I cannot say anything bad about it. It is an opportunity for someone to compete and possibly win more than at any other time in their life. Other than long lines putting in early I had no problems with any boat or competitor.

Pre-spawn Spawn
If it is totally silted in it may not have one as such; however, a 1 foot drop on the edge of a silted creek is still considered a breakline. I have seen a one foot break hold a ton of fish if it is located in the correct spot. I have also seen a one foot breakline created by wave action up on the side of a mainlake point be a killer spot.

Rayburn McDonalds
I'm with you on this. I spent my time out away from the bank in 10-16 ft of water and caught a ton of fish. Had several over 5 , just did not get the larger bite needed to win. Caught 23 Friday in the deeper water and 9 Saturday(Off the water at 11:30) due to the storm. Never had a problem with anyone cutting me off or any other issue with any boat. Friday morning I was at least 100 boats back in line trying to launch at Monterrey Park and within 25 minutes I was in the water. Just goes to show you when you get a lot of people that know what they are doing there usually is not a problem. That 1/2 mile walk from the truck and trailer back to the ramp was a little long but otherwise everything went well.

Rayburn McDonalds
Last week a guy from Baton Rouge called me and told me where he and his partner were staying and launching and asked me where he might get lucky. I gave him an area and several locations I would start with. Monday morning he called me and asked me for my mailing address. I asked him why and he told me he and his partner wanted to send me something thanking me for the information. At 6:03 Sunday morning, fishing an area I described for him, his partner caught a bass weighing 10.46 lbs and it was good for 75,000.00 (Third Place overall) in the tournament. They won a new Dodge Quad Cab and a Triton with a 150 Optimax on it. No idea what they are sending, but it was great to help them out. Have never met them, but making it a point to get to know them and invite them back to fish. Hopefully, I can meet them at the Toledo tournament in June.

Lightening Hit a Boater Saturday
Txbass, Friday the largest I had was a 5.83(Not enough) and a 3.15. I was on the way to weigh it for the even weight boat but a guy from Colorado weighed one in so I turned around. Saturday I had another just over 5 (Again not large enough) and I left the water when that electrical storm blew in just before noon. Did not fish Sunday.

Pre-Hooking Fish?
I would not doubt it on some of the shows. Several shows have taken 3-4 days of filming to get 30 minutes worth of air time. It just depends on the timing of a lot of things.

Lightening Hit a Boater Saturday
I was fishing just West of the Jackson Hill Marina Saturday on Sam Rayburn when a charged storm blew in. I headed in as I am not going to stand in a boat with a graphite rod in my hand. As I arrived at the ramp there was a boat sitting there with a man on his back in the front being attended to by paramedics. He had taken a hit from a bolt but he was alive when he left in the ambulance. I have no update on him but hopefully he is OK. Prayers are out to him and his family. Just a reminder to get off the water when these storms start bearing down on your area. It is not worth it to try and chance it.

I have a back seat open if anyone would like to fish. If you would like to share expenses for the boat that is great but not required. I am fishing Friday and Saturday only. I will be leaving Thursday around 2:00pm to go up to Jasper and registrar. Just let me know. You can email me at: bassman2357@sbcglobal.net or call me at 281 224-8853. Entry fee for the two days is $160.00. Thanks, Jack

worm colors
If the color is good enough to make me buy it I figure it's good enough to make the bass bite. I fish the color I like. Heck with the bass.
