  1. One drop of Marvel Mystery oil on the spool shaft cured mine. You can buy it at any auto supply store. Havn't had the side plate off in six months and still no noise. I fish them hard to.
  2. Years ago Abu made a high speed gear set for the 5000 series. Not sure if anyone has them lying around, but you might put it out there. They were very noisy though if that matters.
  3. It is either backwards or you failed to snug it up to the washer that has the indentions in it. While you have the side plate off check the two bent washers that mount on the top of the gear shaft. They are right under the star drag adjustment. Put them back like this (), not like this ((. Very important and most people don't pay attention to this minor detail. If you can't figure it out, just send it to me and I will set it up for you. No charge.
  4. Might be a loutex. I heard they were a cross between a meanmouth and Florcali.
  5. The baitmonkey will be arriving shortly. Then the spending will begin.
  6. Use the next five months to put your body in the best shape you can. Still won't be enough, but will give you a head start on most of the other recruits and may keep a DI off your A*& a little(Well, maybe not). Familiarize yourself with the manual of arms and go for it. Enjoy. Good luck
  7. For those that do not know Lake Caddo is the only natural lake in Texas. It is located up in N.E. Texas above IH-20 close to the Louisiana state line. They certified it as 15.01 instead of 14.98

    Welcome
  9. Great advice. I always carry a 4 way, jack, spare, and a sealed up hub ready to go. You just never know.
  10. And off the highway!
  11. Last I heard this is a free country. Anyone that files the proper documents, and purchases all required certs is still allowed to put on a tournament on a given lake at the time of their choosing. Competition is what makes it all go around. When one company begins to force their will on standards, pricing, location, and a thousand other things it tends to become a monopoly and that will be an issue for someone else to dictate(The feds).

Where can I apply for the driver's position?
  13. Like the towing rig, but not the trailer. It would take some getting use to.
  14. Welcome. Get us some pics. 1,200.00 for a used, fishable boat is a heck of a deal. Congratulations. Keep a running inventory of the money you spend for tackle and all other items. Let us know when you pass 2,500.00. Again, congratulations on the boat and enjoy the experience.
  15. On highly pressured lakes I love to follow someone through an area throwing my traps that I have drilled and filled with glue to shut them up. You would not believe the difference it makes when the water is on the clear side. There is an art to doing this so if you decide to try it let me know or you will destroy the action. The rattles must be positioned correctly for the lure to fall correctly.
  16. Two new ram mounts for my electronics. They were not on sale though.
  17. I keep all mine in the original bags and when headed to the lake just throw them in an empty plastic shopping bag that came from Wallmart, BPS, Academy, etc. Not high tech, but it works for me.
  18. Very few. due to the cost. I do like the Sammy 100 topwater though. Don't mind paying for it or the pointers. They make a difference in my opinion.
  19. Mustad EWG 3/0-5/0 depending on the size of the lure.
