  1. My fish are not large enough to hurt so no issue here.
  2. Congratulations to the both of you. my wife loves bass fishing to. She loves to watch the boat leave the driveway from the porch.
  3. If you're asking if we can walk you through a rebuild here on this site. No, and don't attempt it unless you are mechanically inclined. If you are and want to give it a try make sure you take pictures and mark everything before you start the tear down. Way too involved to try to walk you through it. Unless you are familiar with needle and seats, float adjustments, and idle adjustments you will have it in a hell of a mess. You certainly don't want to lean it out and burn a piston either. Carry it to someone that knows what they are doing and be done with it. There are actually very few parts in the carbs, it's the adjustments that will give you fits. Good luck, Jack
  4. Nope, but I will be there sometime Friday. Gonna check a few things before we get started Saturday morning. I'll be launching at the ramp by the small bridge.
  5. Man, thanks for saying that.......Maybe im not as stupid as I was beginning to believe You're being a bit hard on yourself. At least you are asking questions. That's the way you gather information to go along with time on the water. Good luck, Jack
  6. Who knows, but I'll promise you I keep moving and trying different things until I get bit. Makes no sense to continue to do the same things without a different result.
  7. 190,000 acres I doubt it Don't forget about the 1200 miles of shoreline catt. HomeBrewerDude Housen is a great area to fish out of. If you want to base out of Hemphill and fish in there I would suggest launching from Jack 944 boat ramp. Or you could go up old 83 and launch at White Oak to be near the mouth. C'mon Wesley, white Oak is supposed to be a secret.
  8. Great, we'll figure out where and when.
  9. The time change messed the old guys up. they probably just slep in.
  10. Trim tab! That's the one. Thanks. On the way to the marine store. I have to get on the water!! Don't let it keep you off the water. You can run without it if need be and won't hurt a thing.
  11. Just thinking all those years of experience still might add up to something. Way to go guys.
  12. How many we got comming? i'll be there and I know Catt and Pat Miller will be on.
  13. Heck, if you're catching fish I see no need to make a change. It's been tough everywhere this year so enjoy what you got.
  14. Up until the last week or so the fish have been way behind the normal scheldule for this time of year. Been an extremely cold, long winter that has set them back. I think you will see them start showing up now as they have for the last 20 years. Keep at it.
  15. Do you have a temp guage? If not just give it plenty of warm up time. I usually drop mine in the water and leave it idling while i go park the truck and trailer. A few more minutes to make sure the thermostants are open are always good and stay off the top end for a few minutes after leaving the ramp. As the weather and water warm it will become less and less of an issue.
  16. You know, it might help to at least let us know what kind of motor you got. My lawn mower does the same thing sometimes and I just hit it with a hammer. Go ahead and try it on what ever the heck you got, couldn't hurt as far as we know. Is it even a boat? How the heck would we even know? Jeezzzzz.
  17. I agree, but they will have hell going back any further unless someone opens their mouth.
  18. X2, I'll be on the water at daylight Friday morning. Not sure where I'll launch. Probably at fin and Feather. Ya not gonna put Carrice Creek against Housen'? Maybe, I'll be up at Carrice Creek next Friday and then a tournament Saturday up there. Gonna check out the water color and what stage everything is in before I commit. That will give me two days up there and one day down lake to check everything out before we get it on. You just never know, Jack
  19. X2, I'll be on the water at daylight Friday morning. Not sure where I'll launch. Probably at fin and Feather.
  20. You can forget peaking into the engine through a plug hole. Go ahead and jerk the heads off. It's come apart. That's piston material without a doubt. It may be possible to repair the one hole that is damaged. From the looks of the lower unit the motor has a ton of hours on it and is ready for a rebuild or powerhead replacement anyway. If, in fact, it has a lot of hours on it just bite the bullet and do the complete powerhead. Another cylinder will be just down the road and makes no sense to repair one cylinder. While you have it down hone and re-ring the other cylinders. You're going to have to purchase a complete gasket set anyway so do it right and be done with it. New bearings, seals, rings, piston(At least one, maybe all), and a gasket set for starters if the block is even salvagable. It might not be though. Sleeving might be possible , just need to get into it and see. I know it is expensive, but make sure you pay the extra and have a good mechanic do the job. No shade tree on this one. Could end up costing twice what it should. FYI, the first thing that needs to be done is figure out what caused the problem. Otherwise it could happen to a new rebuild if it is a fuel or other issue outside the powerhead it's self. Keep us updated. Good luck, Jack
  21. Same here Mike. Harder and harder to lift myself back in. I'm not even sure I could pull your A** back over the side of mine. You need to plan to get yourself on down to my house asap. You need to get behind a tree to tie on a lure right now. It is on. Conroe and Rayburn are putting them out as we speak. Will be on toledo the next two weekends and after that I will be expecting you to be here. Get it in gear. Jack
  22. I C&R and have not kept a fish in years to eat. I do agree that selective harvest of certain size fish (Bass) will help keep a fishery in a balanced state. The Kentuckies have overrun a lot of our lakes and do need to be culled back at times.
  23. X2, should have known that one.
