Tax refund
Replacing the living room carpet with laminate hardwood flooring. That should use up most of the $1200! Maybe have a little left for Mr. Bait Monkey:o) OOPS, I thought you said Rebate. As usual, we owed Kalifornia which offset the pittance we got back Federal.

Bass stopped biting....
That's GREAT NEWS!! I hope to be able to say the same after I fish Upper Otay tomorrow:o)

lil' em helps daddy catch a HUGE one tonight!!!
Now THAT'S a FROG!!! RIBBBBBIIIIITTTTTT:o) Great to see that your daughter isn't afraid of things like that. Most girls get real squimish around frogs and lizards. My wife is terrified of them.

Light at the end of the tunnel!?

at what age can you start teaching a boy to fish?
My wife and I just bought our two grandsons and two granddaughters fishing combos last Sunday. I got the girls Dora setups and the boys Zebco 202s w/small tackle boxes. We are hoping to take all of them fishing on the fishing dock at Otay lake as soon as the weather warms a bit more. My wife suggested a Mother's Day outting/picknic for our whole family. The girls are 4 and 2 1/2 and the twin boys are going to be 6 in May. Hopefully the bluegills and crappie will be biting good by then. I find that if a young child doesn't catch something in the first 10 - 15 minutes they loose all interest and want to go play or go home. I want all our grandkid's first fishing experience to be a good one.

New pics of Raydin (my cornsnake)

For the gear heads
Looked over the list and was shocked to not see the Munster's cars or the Golden Sahara from "Cinderfella" on it:o) Hot Rod magazine has been going "downhill" for many years. I was happy to see that the '55 Chevy AND the duece coupe from "American Graffiti" were pretty high on the list. The original movie car driven by Paul LeMatt is now owned by a guy in San Francisco who found it ROTTING away behind someone's barn!!! I often wonder whatever happens to all those great movie/TV cars. I know some are sold at auctions and even on Ebay from time to time. Sure would like to have the 440 Six Pac 1970 Road Runner from the movie "Brewster McCloud" sitting next to my HemiBee:o)

Afordable tackle
I buy high and sell low. That way I corner the market:o) Seriously though, I also put the premium on the reels and try to get the best mid-priced rods I can find. I can afford the high-end stuff if I want but since I fish mainly for fun and relaxation, I personally see no need for it. IMO.

I need help catching carp and buffalo
Mix up some doughballs and make sure that you put LOTS of garlic powder in them. I used to catch many, many carp when I was a kid using that stuff!

Winching a trailer into a garage(??)
OK, here's what I'm talking about: I have to back my boat/trailer into a pretty tight space in my garage since 1/2 of it is taken up by a car and there's a 6"x6" support beam that also kinda seperates the garage in half. What I was thinking about doing was to install an electric winch on the wall in the back of the garage near the floor and use that to pull the trailer up the driveway and into the garage vice having to back it in with my Explorer. That way I could manouver/position the trailer via the tongue while my wife or daughter worked the winch. NOW that all might sound WEIRD, but I did have a little trouble backing the trailer in the first time I used the boat and the CLUTCH on my Explorer WAS NOT HAPPY with me and smelled something aweful after finally getting the trailer in the garage. I don't want to have to be continually replacing the clutch in my truck and just thought an electric winch OR a 4 ton Come-A-Long might solve this problem. Of course once I get more proficient backing the boat in, this might be a mute point and a DUMB idea. What do you fine folks think (if you're not laughing too hard to think:o) What size winch would I need to do this - 4,000; 6,000; 10,000lb?? Thanks and IF this is a dumb thing to do, at least I hope some of ya got a smile outta it:o)

Danica Patrick Wins
I personally prefer Sarah Fisher to Danica and was hoping she would aspire to the top of the Indy car driver list. Alas, that hasn't happened - yet. Danica is sure a "looker" by all means. Can she compete with the elite drivers IF they don't run out of fuel?? Maybe yes, probably no. Still, she DID win and I was rooting for her to win Indy the year she actually lead the race. And I totally agree that Shirley Muldowny deserves ALL the accolades that can be afforded to her. She was a real pioneer as a woman race car driver even though some consider drag racing as an inferior type of race car driving. I wouldn't think Danica is going to win all that many races but I'd rather see her interviewed over an Andretti any day:o)

GYCB Fat Ika
I've been throwing Fat Ikas rigged backwards as per RW's recommendations every trip out with no success yet, BUT I do expect to catch something BIG eventually. The bite has been painfully SLOW on anything I've used the last several trips so I don't think it's that the FIs aren't going to be a producer!

Not sure if I have to post an intro, so heres mine
Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing forums on the Net, IMO. I had a great friend while I was in the Navy who lived around the New Orleans area. His name was Glenn Silenger. Sure would like to find him and remenise about our days at the Amphib Base in Coronado. You will find that all the guys and gals on the BR Forums are great folks who are eager to share their fishing knowledge and expertise.

Fishing trips, gas, and you
Fortunately I carpool with my neighbor to work so my Explorer sits dormant in the driveway waiting to be hooked up to my boat for the 15 minute drive to Otay where I fish most of the time. IF I had to, I'd bicycle to and from work to save the gas for fishing trips. I used to ride 250 - 300 miles a week on my bike and although I might not be as fast as I was back then, I think I could handle the mileage with a little effort and less cerveza!! Most of the good bass lakes in San Diego county are only about 30 minutes away from my home anyway. Lucky I guess:o)

Glenn: GREAT decision, IMO!!

Bass stopped biting....
619bassman: nice bass! Quick question - can anyone fish the community lakes around East Lake and/or Otay Ranch??

Reel selection from my list please help
I fish Pflueger spinning reels almost exclusively. I have a Supreme, President, and a Trion. Hard to beat those reels, IMO. I also have 2 Okuma Metaloids that are pretty darn nice too. Were I to have to pick one as my favorite, I'd say the Supreme, then the President. Just my thoughts.

BassResource guys - if we were South Park charachters.
I'm more akin to Earl on the old "Dinosaurs" show or Homer on "The Simpsons". At least that's what my wife and daughter tell me. Ahgagagagaga!!!
