  1. 2 - 3 times a week, 4 - 9 hours each time out (depending on whether I'm on my bass boat or using my kickboat/float tube). My favorite lake which is near (15 miles) my house is only open 3 days a week: Wed., Sat., Sun.
  2. Which part of "NO" don't they understand?? Surely they have read the threads about their products on the BR forums. Yet they still want to advertise them here?? Guess they hope to LURE in some of our newbies with those junk gimmick gizmos (pun intended). Way to go, Glenn!!! Note: my appology for calling you Surely:o)
  3. Absolutely a fine float tube, the Fish Cat 4 is!! The Fat Cat and Super Fat Cats are even nicer! Have all your questions answered by float tubing experts here: http://www.bigfishtackle.com/forum/Float_Tube_Fishing_C66/ Many pics and reviews of most of the more popular float tubes/pontoon kick boats. Here's the one I opted to get and will be using it for the first time this Sunday:o)
  4. Welcome to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. I think someone makes a top of the car loading assistant that allows you to load a small boat or canoe on top of your car without damaging it. IF I recollect right, there are also some manufacturers of some rollers that will let you lift one end of your small boat/canoe up on them and then slide/roll the rest of the craft on top of you car. Try this link: http://www.cabelas.com/hprod-1/0030168.shtml Hope this helps you out.
  5. 85 pounder I saw at Lower Otay was caught on cut Mackeral. I don't know if it was a small piece or the whole fish (trade secret??). The guy who caught it is famous around this area for consistantly catching BIG CATS. The cat sure was big enough to have eaten a whole one!
  6. MANY THANKS to Glenn, all the Moderators, and ALL the GREAT guys and gals who make all the BR Forums the fantastic place that it is! Everyone gets upset or PO'd once in awhile by an errant comment that someone might make. What's correct in one person's mind may well offend someone else. We're all different and unique. Personal perspectives and opinions are just that: personal. Glenn and the Mods do a SUPERB job monitoring these forums and maintaining a HIGH DEGREE of respect, congeniality, and unity amongst the members. From a personal point of view, I have and still do belong to numerous website talk forums which cover many interests and hobbies and most are pretty darn good (otherwise I wouldn't have joined or remain a member). However, ONE stands above all the rest and that's BR!!!
  7. I love Tooheys (Australian) but I can't find it around anymore. Guniess Extra Stout is pretty good as is Harp (made by Guiness). New Castle Brown Ale is a smooth brewski too. There are just so many great beers to choose from that it is hard to pick one favorite. That's why I drink 'em ALL:o)
  8. NuCanoe info can be found at: www.nucanoe.com If you email them they will send you a pricelist and shipping costs. Great company, great product. My 10' wasn't as stable as I thought it would be UNTIL I fabricated the outriggers/stabilizers for it. With them on it is VERY stable and I was able to comfortably stand to fish. I do think the 12' version of the NuCanoe is much more stable without stabilizers than the smaller 10' version I have. You can carry a LOT of stuff in one, much like a regular canoe.
  9. Welcome to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. Happy to see another Cali guy join our ranks. Are you ready for all the "trout fed gigantic bass" stories? Seems there are MANY huge bass up in NorCal. Have you been catching any yet this year??
  10. I got my new H3 Freestyle float tube yesterday and am planning on fishing Upper Otay on it this Sunday. It's really more of a small pontoon/kick boat and it will be the first time I've ever used one. Sure would like to have an experienced friend along from the BR forums. I'm sure some of the other tubers will happily answer any questions or help with any problems I might encounter. Really looking forward to being able to get to where the bass are on that lake! Saw some nice bass caught by tubers the last two times I went and fished from shore. PM me if you'd like to hook up and go out early Sunday morning. I'm planning on being there around 05:30. Thanks!!
  11. Wonder if the bullet stopped the itch?? Ahgagagagaga!!

GREAT post and insight/advice, Catt!!! THANKS! Sure would like to see a LOT more like this one from the more knowledgeable guys and gals on the BR forums.
  13. Since I have a hard time finding someone to go out with most of the time, I voted for ALONE. However, I'd like to "second" what Big-O said in his great post! I prefer to have someone along to enjoy the experience with BUT I won't let not having someone stop me from going.

Practice, practice, practice! Before my youngest daugter took her driving test I took her out almost every day in the PT Cruiser she was going to take her test in and every time we came to a spot in the neighborhood that was perfect for practicing parallel parking, I made her park! That was the one thing she too was worried about. She took the test and didn't even have to do it!! I'd also recommend that you try to relax and not be nervous. The more proficient you become behind the wheel, the less anxiety you'll have. IMO:o)
  15. Welcome to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. Try a T-rigged Senko fished real slow. Let it drop to the bottom and then slowly hop it back to you. Watch your line carefully since a lot of the strikes happen when the Senko is falling back towards the bottom. Another thing you might want to try is a jig and pig fished pretty much the same way.
  16. Jig and pig. Very versatile. My "other" choice would have been a Senko.

"Ducks" in a sweep! Oh wait, that's next year! Go Pens:o)
  18. Pulled in a few nice lures attached to branches and weeds but no rod and reel combos yet. Probably just a matter of time:o)
  19. I'm kinda CONCERNED about you using a 'Yak in your area: FLA. Do you have those nasty 'gator beasties to deal with?? In a 'Yak you'd be REAL close to the waterline and a hungry 'gator could easily pop up and grab you and that would put a serious damper on your fishing trip! A canoe would be much safer, in my opinion. Or you might want to consider a kayak/canoe hybrid like my NuCanoe with stabilizers/outriggers for added stability so you can stand and fish or just stretch your legs. Also with the NuCanoe comes the ability to easily clamp on a trolling motor. Check them out on their website. In any event, I'd still opt for a canoe over a sit-in or sit-on-top kayak, especially in your area.
  20. Welcome to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO! Your knowledge and expertise will be appreciated by all of the great members of BR who eagerly share their's.
  21. Tough situation you are in my friend!! I've been married 38 years and have been VERY fortunate that my wife supports all the sports that I've done over the years. Since I've gotten back into fishing the last year, she wants me to go out and relax/enjoy myself. My take on your dilema is that your GF might be an Alpha type who wants to be the dominant person in your relationship. That is NOT good if it conflicts with what YOU want to do. Some good communication MIGHT solve the problem, might NOT too. IF she got that upset over a trip she knew about for two months in advance and "laid into you" on the morning of the trip, I think she's playing the old "guilt trip" card on ya! Please don't read anything into what I'm saying. I LOVE my wife to no end but when push comes to shove, I normally will do what I WANT to do unless there's a dang good reason otherwise. She knows that. Still, I DO try to meet her in the middle on most things and we talk as much as possible on matters as important as what makes each of us happy. Just my thoughts. Hope things work out OK for you!!!
  22. Multitudes of boats that are FISH READY on Craig's List and Ebay. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a real nice boat that needs NO work before it's ready to use. Here's what I got for $6K:
  23. Yes and no. I've decided to use my ProCraft sparingly and use this when I want to fish alone (it gets great gas mileage, uh, I mean leg mileage) )
  24. I have Megastrike and JJ's Magic. So far it seems as though the JJ's is producing more strikes.
  25. Possible solution to your access problem (i.e. no boat): if you can afford one, get yourself a float tube/kickboat. Extremely portable and will allow you to fish the pads from outside vice the shoreline. Have you seen anyone else use a tube on your pond??
