  1. Most of us are victims of the "Curse of the Bait Monkey" whether we want to admit it or not, IMO:o)
  2. You might also want to condsider the San Diego County area. MANY great bass lakes around: Otay, Hodges, Dixon, San Vincente, most of which rent boats. There are many great hotels/motels all over the place and everyone knows that there are many other attractions to attend in your "non-fishing" hours (Sea World, Zoo, Wild Animal Park, beaches, desert to the East, etc., etc.). Just my thoughts on your question.
  3. "Get in my belly!" (Fat Bas(s)tard:o) Looks pretty darn YUMMY to me!
  4. Newest arrival (didn't know how to put two pictures in same post):

Rooting for Helio in today's 500. Gonna DVR the whole thing so I can watch it later this afternoon without all the commercials. Guess I'd better not check back into BR until after that. I sure don't want to know who won before I watch it:o) Gotta get back to that flooring right now!!
  6. I put mid grade in my wife's Toyoya Canry but I read an article that said that newer cars have sensors that will automatically adjust the spark timing to allow regular grade to be used. My son is a service writer for Kearny Mesa Toyota and I'm going to ask him about that and if it won't hurt the car, I will switch over to regular immediately.
  7. Just wanted to wish everyone on the BR Forums a SAFE and productive holiday weekend (if you happen to get some fishing in). I hope to go out Monday and Wednesday IF the weather cooperates. Other than that, I'm removing living room carpeting, laying laminate hardwood flooring, and am going to try and build my rod/sonor rack for my mini-pontoon. BE SAFE and have some FUN all you guys and gals!

A hearty WELCOME to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO!!
  9. Alcohol or Mary Jane?? Glad to hear that your truck didn't suffer any serious damage. Kinda ironic that the kid's Mom works for the sheriff's office. Bet the kid won't be driving again very soon either.
  10. Yep, I AGREE that the home owner is CRAZY!! It is a BUYERS market right now in the real estate world. Anyone who THINKS he/she can get $10K+ more than a house is appraised at is just plain dumb OR in a situation where they don't HAVE to sell their house for anything less than they think it's worth (to them). Sorry to hear that you suffered a personal monetary loss on the deal!!! Hope you find a place that will fit your budget. There certainly are a LOT of homes on the market now all across the US which can't sell! My Boss at work is waiting to sell his house so he can retire but the market is SO BAD that he is having no luck with buyers at all!!
  11. SUPER glad to hear that you and your son safely survived that horrible ordeal!!! I wear my inflatable PFD ALL the time when I'm on my float tube/mini-pontoon irregardless of how close I am to shore/safety and how dumb it may look to others in the area. I am a strong swimmer and with fins on would have no trouble reaching shore if I fell/slipped into the water. However, my life is worth every ounce of safety that I can have and that's why I wear it. When I'm using my bass boat I normally don't wear a PFD but I just may start since I'd be more apt to fall off that than slip out/off of or my float tube. Once again...I'm VERY glad to see that you and your son survived that harrowing experience!!
  12. Try Ebay and your local Craig's List. You might find one on there in your area.
  13. Try Ebay and Craig's List in your immediate area. I know I've seen swivel bass boat seats for sale on the Craig's List here in 'Diego ever so often and there's always some on Ebay.
  14. Welcome to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. You certainly have come to the RIGHT place to have all your questions answered! First off, you should read ALL the Beginner's Articles already available on BR. Then I'd recommend that you spend some time reading the other forums called Fishng Rods, Reels, and Line and Fishing Tackle. Most of your questions will be answered there.
  15. Thank goodness there's NOT a Tackle Warehouse or BPS close to me!! Heck, Wally World is BAD enough. I can't even go there without spending at least $20 on lures and stuff. One of those special places would most likely put me in the poor house and be cause for seeing a divorce attorney:o)
  16. A hearty WELCOME to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. Congratulations on being the 15,000th member of this GREAT family of avid fishermen and fisherwomen:o)
  17. Welcome to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO!
  18. Hope I made "the cut") Email sent to Dana a few minutes ago. THANKS to you Bobby for the generous offer!!
  19. I second dumbdog11's suggestion OR try a 6" - 8" swimbait like a Huddleston.
  20. Run a spinnerbait in front of her nose and see if you can get a reaction strike or make her mad enough to grab the lure. Just what I'd try.
  21. +2 on the "get a hitch" suggestion!!! They are relatively inexpensive and much safer for you, your truck, and your boat, IMO. Check Ebay for some good prices for a bolt on hitch.
  22. Welcome to the BR Forums - the PREMIER bass fishing site on the Net, IMO! I'd say your hooksets are a result of timing (when you're setting the hook) and the way the fish is orientated when it occurs. Just my thoughts on that issue. Some of the more knowledgeable BR members may have better info on that. BTW: my Mom, 3 brothers, and sister all live in the Kankakee area:o)
  23. Have FUN, be PATIENT, and be PERSISTANT. Most of us don't make our living fishing tournaments. One last thing, don't get frustrated when you don't have a good day fishing. It happens to EVERYONE once in awhile (whether they admit it or not:o) Sorry I echoed what has already been said, but I was fishing most of the day yesterday. Got skunked, but had several good strikes. 2nd time out on my H3 Freestyle mini-pontoon.
