  1. I use a 6'6" medium heavy, fast action rod, Diawa Light & Tough being my favorite, with Pfluger Supreme or President reel spooled with 8 - 10 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
  2. I personally prefer to use spinning reels even though I have 2 nice BC setups. I'm not all that proficient casting with the BCs and my spinners never let me down. Most of the other guys who fish the lake I do use BC setups. I've NEVER had anyone say anything about my spinning useage. However, when I do use the BCs, I really like the smoothness of the retrieve and the lack of line twist that sometimes plauges my spinning reels. I do NOT like those pesky "bird's nests" that almost always incapacitate the one BC that I usually take along each trip.
  3. On my pontube (float tube) I carry 3 rods. Usually I have 2 spinning setups and one BC setup: 1 - 6'6" medium heavy spinning - senkos 1 - 6'6" medium heavy spinning - spinner/crankbaits 1 - 7' medium BC - topwater/frogs
  4. Taped it on my DVR and watched it yesterday while exercising on my spin bike. EXCELLENT program that I most certainly will SAVE to watch many times over AND have my WIFE watch so she can get a better understanding of why I have such a passion for fishing. Segments on Dottie were SUPERB but very SAD to me. One ray of hope: where there's one giant bass, there's bound to be another lurking somewhere near. I gotta get up to Dixon a few times this year:o) RIP, Dottie!! You certainly were an inspiration and motivation for those 3 guys and should be for all of us! After watching the program I REALLY want to get back out there and start hookin 'em:o) Last week I ordered a bunch of stuff from BPS to get me ready for this season's bass fishing. I plan to start getting back out there in a week or two (or as soon as my new H3 pontube arrives or I can get my old one repaired). Weather here in So Ca has been in the 80's the last several days and I'm anxious to go!!
  5. For that kind of $$$s and considering your storage space issue, I'd recommend an inflatable also. IF you aren't adamant about having a trolling motor, one of the new V-shaped float tubes (pontubes) would be another option I'd highly recommend!
  6. Dang....even though my arteries hardened when I looked at that picture.....now I'm starved for a brat!!!

WAY TOO FUNNY!!! I'll have to remember that one in case anyone asks me if I have a dog next time I'm buying dog food!!!
  8. 5 - 6 hour baseball games are looming on the horizon - and that doesn't mean extra inning games either!(
  9. Prayers sent. Sure hope his wife and children come through this tragedy alright!
  10. Probably got the idea from a CARTOON!!!

    Congratulations!!!
  12. Most raft, pontoon/kick boat, and float tube owners leave their respective craft partially inflated and fill them up/top them off when they get to the lake with either a battery operated pump or a 2-way high volume pump like I use on the enclosed picture. Always remember to check the air pressure continually and allow for expansion when it gets hot outside and contraction when the water is cold to avoid having bladders burst and seams ripped open. IMO.
  13. Horrible, horrible news!! I extend my sincerest condolences to all affected by this senseless tragedy. Hope the SCUMBAG killer gets the chair and SOON! I still say that bringing back public hangings should be put to the vote of the people. My opinion.
  14. DeTomasso Pantera -great car:o)
  15. "Beatle Boots", anyone??
  16. A well deserved CONGRATULATIONS!!!
  17. I read once that Babe Ruth could read the numbers on a license plate that was so far away that most people couldn't even tell what color it was. Great eyesight is indeed an asset in any sport.
  18. Get some stocking foot neoprene waders for the colder water and some breathable waders for the warmer water. I've been using the breathable waders so far this year (since May when I bought my 1st float tube/pontube) with the water in the 80 degree range. When it cools below 70 degrees in the winter months, I'll buy some neoprene waders!
  19. I play drums, a little bagpipe, and recently bought myself two nice banjos and hope to learn to play them soon (been messing around with them on and off for a few months but need to start really practicing and learning)
  20. Not surprised at all. Swimming consumes a massive amount of energy/calories. Pro cyclists normally eat around 8,000 - 9,000 calories a day while doing events like the Tour De France (if I recollect right). Endurance athletes NEED fuel:o)
  21. IF Michael wins the 100 meter fly, then 8 Golds should fit around his neck nicely. I still remember watching Spitz win the 7 gold medals and the announcer saying "..and he may well be the LAST person to ever do it!" (and I remember the picture of Spitz standing with all 7 medals hanging around his neck. SURE would like to see Michael beat that record!!!
