Hitting Lower Otay tomorrow in my new ProCraft
I'll be on Lower Otay tomorrow with my son and a friend of his from work. It'll be the 1st time out on the used ProCraft that I bought on the 5th of this month. IF any of you other So CA guys are out there and see me/us, give a shout. My boat is white with a burgandy bottom up front. I'm loaded for bear, but would happily settle for a nice 5+ pounder:o)

bull #@%& fishing ticket
Been thinking about the wording of that cited law - it's VERY possible that you might be able to convince a judge that you thought that it meant no more than one line in the water at a time with one hook point, not one line with multiple hook points which is how it reads. Ambiguity in the law is a no-no and often used by defense attorneys to have cases thrown out of court/dismissed. As far as due respect to GWs as law enforcement officers - they are entitled to that, IMO. However, YOU are also entitled to DUE respect from them as well. Any abusive attitude or mannerism by any law enforcement officer should be reported to his/her superiors immediately. Unfortunately, it often comes down to "his/her word against your's" and superiors/judges generally side with the officer. I know in Coronado, CA I refer to the police as the "Coronado Gestapo".

Boat Ladders
One of the FIRST things my wife insisted that I buy for my new "used" bass boat was a ladder that I could have rolled up and available to lower should I be fishing alone and fall overboard, PERIOD. I bought a 5 rung roll up ladder at West Marine last Saturday and fully intend to have it attached to the boat and within my grasp FROM the water at all times when fishing alone. CHEAP INSURANCE, IMO!!! I also wear a PFD when fishing alone even though I am a strong swimmer.

Falcon Tackle Organizer
Before you buy the FTO System, do yourself a favor and drop by Wall-Mart and check out the Okeechobee Fats bags, both the large green 1200 series one for $40 w/boxes and the smaller red 800 series one for $20 w/boxes. I have both and highly recommend them. In my large green bag I think I am carrying 5 large boxes, 2 medium boxes, and 3 or 4 smaller boxes and that is in the main compartment of the bag, NOT counting all the pockets that carry my camera, glasses, needlenose, line spools, scale, yaddie, yaddie. The smaller red bag can also carry a ton of stuff. Just something you might want to check out and consider. I know I love my Okeechobees!

oil injection
NOT wanting to get off topic or sound like an idiot, BUT where/how do you put the oil in an injected Mercury 2 stroke?? Do you just put it in the oil tray until the little indicator rises to the full up position (that is what I am assuming and I can not see the indicator on my Merc 75 right now). THANKS!!!

When is the best time of year to buy a bass boat?
Around the end of the year holidays when folks need extra money or even around April 15th when some are also in need of a few extra $$$s. I see GOOD deals on bass rigs out here in CA all the time. A lot of people buy nice rigs and then either don't use them enough to warrant keeping them or they loose interest in fishing and sell all the stuff they bought.

Fishing Kayaks
Well, I bought and used once a 10' Malibu Mini-X kayak and I didn't like it too much so I sold it and bought a 10' NuCanoe. The NuCanoe is "heads and tails above" the Mini-X, in MY OPINION! In the NuCanoe there is TONS of room and the seating position is more upright like a regular canoe or jon boat and WAY more comfortable and DRY!! After I built and added the outriggers/stabilizers in the picture, the NuCanoe became much more stable and quite EASY to stand up in and cast/fish. It is much wider than most kayaks at 42" and thus is SLOWER when paddling and you really need a LONG kayak paddle to use OR you can paddle it like a canoe with a canoe paddle. I really liked it MUCH MUCH more than the Mini-X BUT my wife "talked me into" buying a real bass boat so I'm going to sell the NuCanoe or keep it to take back to Indiana when I go to use on the small ponds/lakes back there. One other GREAT thing about the NuCanoe is that you CAN easily put a small trolling motor on the back. I actually put one on mine with a small garden tractor battery BUT never used it the one time I went fishing in it. There are a LOT of folks fishing in kayaks. I see them ALL the time on Otay where I normally fish. When the NuCanoe "catches on" and becomes more "known" around the country, I think many will convert over to them. Here's the picture: NOTE: I just laid the deluxe seat in the boat for the picture. I never even used it the one time I went out. It can be secured to provide back support. The pic also doesn't show the trolling motor mounted or the battery. I was able to stand in the recessed area that you see running down the center of the boat, no problem. The stabilizers I made have Noodles for floatation but you can buy Lobster Bouys that look much nicer and provide even more floatation, even though it's not really needed. The Ram Mounts I used allow the stabilizers to be easily removed for transport and they also allow easy positioning of the stabilizers once you get to your fishing spot. My Okeechobee small red bag sat nicely in front of me in the recessed area too and was much easier to access. I didn't have time to make PVC rod holders, so I just laid my three rods on the side of the boat and in back of me when fishing. Something to consider.

makeshift anchor
A trick some of the kayak fisherman use is to take a nylon net bag and fill it with rocks from the shore of the lake/pond they are fishing at and use that as an anchor. When they're done fishing, they just empty out the bag. May work for you, may not. Worth a try and you won't have excess weight to transport to and from the lake/pond.
