  1. I agree with Bass-Brat that $6K would be a fair price for a '94 Nitro 18'. I see them frequently on Craig's List here in Diego and the surrounding areas for even less than that. There's a 1996 17' Rick Clunn Edition Nitro for sale right now in LA for $5500 but I doubt that it is in as excellent condition as the '94 you're looking at. Good luck with your purchase! IF the seller won't come down that low ($6K) then hagge some more. $7K isn't all that bad of a deal on a super nice clean boat - BUT that's just MY PERSONAL OPINION!
  2. You can forget that "I forgot" idea, especially if it's only your 5th year of marriage. After you get past 30 years and can honestly claim senility or Alzheimer's, then the "I forgot" excuse is more plausible. Buy her something NICE! The spa idea is a good one. Most women like to be pampered.
  3. From my experience having owned 3 sailboats, a 23' San Juan, a 27' Catalina, and a 30' Catalina, the extra footage in a boat is amazing. You'd think that a couple of extra feet wouldn't make THAT much of a difference. WRONG! Along with the added length normally comes added width and depth. As far as bass boats go, I am certainly NO EXPERT - far from it. However, I just bought me a 15' ProCraft and I've been fishing a lot on my Boss' 17.5' Skeeter and I honestly don't see much difference between my boat and his except for some added storage and a little more deck space on the Skeeter. Still, I look at those 19 - 21' boats and they have deck space like an aircraft carrier compared to my little ProCraft. I could have bought me a bigger boat but I wanted something that would completely fit in 1/2 of my garage and I don't need a big boat since there will only be one or two people on mine most of the time. Hope some of the real bass boat experts here on BR chime in with better answers for you!
  4. Yep, hard to beat a jig. You might also want to try a T-rigged Senko weightless. IF the water is murky, try a lighter colored jig. I'd stick with a watermelon w/red or black flake Senko color initially as well.

Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing site on the Net, IMO:o) Tell us a little more about your excursions into this wonderful hobby/obsession we call fishing. Have you landed your first bass yet? What were you fishing with - lures/plastics/live bait?? There are many GREAT guys and gals on BR who will gladly answer ALL your fishing questions.
  6. Another Cali guy, huh?? Well a quick answer is: we here in CA are so fortunate that we CAN fish year round, unlike some of our Eastern BR members who have real adverse weather and cold to deal with. Several Northern CA guys are already slaying BIG bass as evidenced by the BR Tournament that is underway. You certainly can fish year round, as can I, luckily, but you will need to learn some extra techniques for when the water in your area gets cold AND you will need to learn patience and how to fish SLOW and deep. Hopefully some of the more experienced Cali guys will chime in and give you some great tips/advice. I fully intend to fish year round here in Diego too. We have several great bass lakes and I know one of them is harboring my PB. PS: congratulations on catching your first bass!! Now you've gone and done it! You'll be hooked for life (pun intended:o) Just beware of the "Curse of the Bait Monkey".
  7. That seems to be a pretty good deal even though there are several colors that I don't care for. Where might I ask did you find them??
  8. Pinch's is some of the smoothest scotch that I've ever had but it is expensive. I prefer to stay with "pizza and beer")
  9. I heard that!! I had to have a boat that would completely fit inside 1/2 of my garage since my SuperBee takes up the other side and luckily mine does! She "bribed" me into buying it by saying that if I'd stay working and not retire for another 6 months to a year to replace the money I spent on it, then I could have it. She also wanted me to get something that I could take my older sons fishing on. I was using my NuCanoe when I went alone (once) and have been also going out on my Boss' 18' Skeeter every time I could talk him into going. Are you going to get another ProCraft if you do eventually buy a new boat??

  11. That add has been withdrawn from their marketing campaign.
  12. Congratulations on your special day. Sounds like you had a GREAT time!
  13. Welcome back! I see that your member ID is Procraft68. Do you own a ProCraft bass boat?? I just bought a nice used 1995 with a 75hp Mercury on it last week. Planning to get her on the water this Sunday.
  14. Topwaters early and late. Senkos and other plastics almost anytime. Crankbaits and jerkbaits should work too if your spinnerbaits are producing.
  15. I think Jimzee's estimates are pretty much right on with $4500 being the most I'd personally pay for that particular setup that's that old. I saw nearly the identical setup here in Diego and they wanted $2700 for it but it needed to have some fixes done on the bottom of the hull.

  17. It's not a controversial thing. Yes it is! )
  18. Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing forums on the Net, IMO! Pfluegers are my preferred brand too:o)
  19. Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. Sorry I can't answer your question but some of the other BR members most likely will be able to. IF I dug a pool on my property, I'd fill it with BABES, not bass:o)
  20. "The Horror, the Horror!" Actually I think the bass fishing addiction is related to the challenge it is to catch 'em, especially on lures and plastics. Same goes for Musky fisherman and any other species as far as that goes. IMO:o)
  21. You DELAY your upcoming retirement for 6 months to a year to pay for the Bass Boat that you just HAD to have!
  22. I'd also recommend that you watch your balance when trying to lip bass from shore. Do you wear waders so you can get in water that's a few feet deep/from shore?? Shorelines and the rocks/grass/weeds that normally surround most ponds/lakes are usually very slippery and can be hazzardous. Just a thought.
  23. A hearty WELCOME to the BR Forums!! That is one hawg you're holding there. What were the specs on that monster??
  24. A hearty WELCOME to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. I love to fish for cats when I want to just relax, throw out some mackeral or stink bait and wait for the line to zing out with a monster on the other end! Bass fishing is a real challenge. Anyone can catch 'em, even with a bobber and nightcrawler. The addiction kicks in when you're seeking them out with lures and plastics. IMO:o) A wee bit of warning: watch out for the "Curse of the Bait Monkey". He will surely get his little paws on your $$$$$s:o)
  25. Welcome to the BR Forums - BEST bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. With a member ID like you have "weatherman", be prepared for some friendly ribbing about all the adverse weather the guys and gals are suffering back East:o)
