  1. Ballistik wrote: "So how many days next week do you plan on calling in sick." Ahgagagagaga!! I guess I shouldn't laugh - I been thinking about it but Lower Otay is only open on Wednesday during the week and I already have a trip planned with my oldest son and a friend of his from work a week from this Sunday (he doesn't know I have the PopeyeCraft yet - should be a nice surprise when he and his friend show up expecting to go out on a small rental with a 5 hp motor and no padded seats:o) THANKS for all the "congrats"!! You guys and gals are always so suportive of other BR members. I feel honored just to be one of them! My wife LOVES the boat too! She said it looks almost brand new. It has had very little usage over the years and is in superb condition. PO just had an 80# thrust Minn Kota installed that still has some of the factory celophane wrapping on the wiring (unused). Now I have to install the trailer light harness in my Explorer Sport and get the right receiver and ball and I should be ready to FISH, FISH, and then FISH some more. Yahoo - no more paddling!! As far as "ball height" goes, should I measure from the top of the coupler to the ground when the trailer is LEVEL and then make sure that the top of the ball on the receiver is the same height?? I've read some other posts where the guys are adamant about the trailer being towed LEVEL or as close to level as possible(??) PS: I ONLY made about 50 or so trips to the garage yesterday and 3 already this AM:o) My wife said she fully expected to come home last night and find me either sitting in it or sleeping in it:o) PSS: LBH: love that "PopeyeCraft" moniker - think I'll keep it if that's OK with ya!!
  2. I agree - snakehead or variation of that species or possibly a fresh water Coelacanth(??).
  3. Ahgagagagaga!!! I can't sleep either!!!
  4. I used to like to watch the lumberjack competitions. What those guys could do with an ax or chainsaw was amazing (and very dangerous IMO:o)
  5. It's 01:30 and I'm "Awake". Ahgagagaga!! Can't sleep, been sick the last 4 days and the excitement of getting my new boat this afternoon has got me all wired out. Now you would have to mention Jessica Alba, wouldn't you:o)
  6. These are a snap to build and are very adjustable and remove easily for transport: full construcion details are available here: www.kayakfishingstuff.com Click on Articles and then on outriggers in the far right menu. You can get Lobster bouys which provide more floatation than the Noodles I used and look much better too!!
  7. One of my favorite lines from "Star Trek IV, the Voyage Home" spoken by Scottie after he beamed up George and Gracie, the two humpback whales - modified a little bit as you can see. Here's what is resting all snug and safe in my garage: I haven't stop smiling since it arrived this afternoon!!!
  8. Fish Chris: that's an awesome rig you have. That's really ALL you need to get to where the bass are.
  9. I know on certain sailboats it's actually better to buy an older fiberglass boat because the thickness of the fiberglass hull was greater than their modern counterparts. I'm just guessing here, but that well may be the case with the older bass boats too. Sure they are going to be heavier and slower than the newer models, but those thicker hulled boats will/should last almost forever if properly taken care of (and be almost indestructibly strong too).
  10. Jigs, Senkos (T or Wacky rigged) and drop shot rigs all fished slow would be my choices.

Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing site on the Net, IMO! There are many great guys and gals on BR who are eager to answer all your fishing questions. Check out all the different forums for a wide array of topics/posts.
  12. Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. I used to play golf a few times a week and it was FUN. However, I personally don't think golf can hold a candlestick to fishing, especially bass fishing, when it comes to the element of excitement. In golf, you either make a great, good, or poor shot and then once on the green, you either make or miss the putt. In fishing, each and every cast can be THE ONE that allows you to hook into a trophy or even World Record fish (not to mention a PB). For me that is EXCITING and FUN to boot.
  13. I "converted" to Owner hooks based on the posts of other BR members and a recommendation from a fishing buddy and I haven't been disappointed yet. I have 3/0, 4/0, and 5/0 Offset EWG worm hooks and I really like 'em. I also use Gamakatsu on occassion.
  14. First off: Welcome to the BR Forums!! Most boats lend themselves to modifications that are well thought out. I'd be most concerned with maintaining stability when making changes to deck height and/or overall dimensions. IF any mods you decide to do require drilling or cutting any part of the boat's structure, make certain that you're not weakening the structural integrity of the boat and hull. Always measure twice (I recommend 3 times) before any drilling or cutting is done. There are many guys on BR who have WAY more experience than I on this subject. Hopefully they'll give you their opinions and advice. It would help to see some pictures of your boat too.

On the bright side, you won't have to worry about being attacked by VAMPIRES for awhile! Ahgagagaga!!
  16. Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing site on the Net, IMO. Hope you do GREAT on the upcoming tournament season!!
  17. Jessica Alba, Denise Richards and on and on. There are SO many beautiful/hot actresses out there. It seems a new babe comes along every month or so. Heck, some of those ladies in the shampoo comercials look pretty darn nice too, IMO:o)
  18. WELCOME to the BR Forums - the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net - IMO! A Musky guy, huh?? You're after my own heart! I want to one day catch one of those top predator toothy critters! Some think catching trophy bass is a real challenge and rightly so, BUT to land a "fish of 10,000 casts" is a whole different ballgame. I've seen some huge Muskys caught on Lindner's Angling Edge and they make it look pretty easy but I know it is far from it! Again, welcome to BR!
  19. My prayers are with both of you. God bless him and ALL Grandpa's!!!
  20. Quest is OVER! I just made a deal on a beautiful 1995 16' Pro Craft bass boat with a 75 HP Merc. Boat has a new 80# thrust trolling motor, a new custom cover, and a new bimini top. Very light usage and it looks brand new!! I'm SO EXCITED I may wet myself:o) THANKS to ALL of you for your help and advice! I should have the boat this Wednesday or Thursday. PO is bringing it to me from LA area. Yes, the motor was just serviced and everything checked out great. WOOOOOOOOOOO:o) Will post some pictures when I get it!

Years ago when I was training for the Las Vegas Marathon I'd run 50 - 75 miles a week (longest training run was around 20 miles if I recollect right). Lost a ton of weight and could eat almost anything I wanted and not gain an ounce!! I fondly remember getting the "runner's high" on several of my longer 10+ mile runs. You have to experience that to believe it!! When it happens you feel like you're floating across the ground. You don't feel the pounding on your body/feet or anything. It is something that every runner should experience. I was addicted to running EVERY day of the week. Then I started doing triathlons and biathlons here in So CA and got hooked on multi-event events. The last real running event I did was the Fontana Days Half Marathon where you are taken to the top of this mountain and the first 7 miles of the run are down the mountain and then it FLATTENS out for the remaining 6 miles. That was the fastest run that I ever did. I really started biking more and more and running less and less. It got to where I was biking 200 - 250 miles a week and not running at all. I still jog 3 - 5 miles on occassion but prefer to bike 20 - 30 miles a workout. I gotta start doing that SOON and lay off the brewskis!!! I also have a great spin bike that I can ride and watch bass fishing shows at the same time!!

Some people have more money than sense! IMO:o) I buy on Ebay all the time BUT I usually use the "Buy It Now" options on items I want to buy so I don't get into a bidding war with someone like the first sentence mentions! There are good/great deals on Ebay (sometimes).
  23. FA (Fishaholic's Anonymous)???? Ahgagagagaga! Guess I shouldn't laugh since I'm also a member!
  24. Welcome to the BR Forums - the BEST fishing site on the Net, IMO:o) You might want to get some Senkos and offset worm hooks and give them a try T-rigged and weightless. Just toss your Senko out, let it settle to the bottom and twitch/hop it back to you on shore. A lot of the bites this technique elicits are when the Senko is falling back to the bottom so you need to watch the slack in your line carefully. Just something else to add to your bass fishing arsenal.
  25. Guys and gals I'd appreciate some recommendations and reasons to assist me in buying my first bass boat. There are several in the local area that I'm interested in and since I don't know all that much, I'm asking you, the experts, this question: which of these three manufacturer's do you prefer - Nitro, Champion, Stratos, Pro Craft?? Is buying an older boat, say something in the early 1990s an issue IF the boat was well maintained and serviced?? THANKS for ALL the help!!! PS: one last question: I see quite a lot of "sport boats" for sale - fish/ski dual purpose boats. Since I want my boat to be able to fish 3 adults comfortably, should I steer away from those type boats for space/storage reasons?? I should have mentioned that I'm buying a USED boat in the 1990 - 1998 year range AND one that is 16' - 18'.
