Probably shiner or golden shiner minnows. Some of them get very large and have been responsible for catching thousands if not millions of bass small and large. Night crawlers and small standard minnows have done their share of catching as well. Big O wwww.ragetail.com

I get best results on Rage Toads and always let the fish load up on the toad before settin' the hook. There is a small 3/4 inch hook relief in the center of the toads back that is designed to hide the hook point and skin hook without bowing the body. When the Toads body is maintained in it's original shape, it runs true and upright every time. I use a 4 to 5/0 heavy wire EWG Gammy and rarely miss'em on the hook set. Braided line is a also a standard for me just in case the fish gets the toad turned in his mouth, I can still drive the hook. Big O www.ragetail.com

Salt is also a scent killer. All plastic smells of plastic and when salt is added or impregnated in it you will notice that it reduces or totally removes the plastic scent, depending on how much salt is present. This is also the case with other odors as well like human or even scent additives. When adding scents to plastic during the pouring process, more scent is required if salt is used as well. Hey Backwoods, Go to www.ragetail.com and you will see hooking inst. etc. On the Shad, I like a 4/0 EWG Gammy heavy wire hook and on the Toad I use up to a 5/0. Fish the Shad any where in and around the salad as it comes thru it really well. It is as close to a soft plastic buzzbait as there is and the head shakes back and forth. In my opinion, "The real jig expert is the fish, he teaches us something a little different every day". I take back everything I just said and I was badly miss-taken and you shouldn't fish jigs in warm water ever again because you are wasting your time and fish hate them and it makes them ill just to see a jig in the warm water, besides that Jigs in warm water give fish leprosy and all Jigs melt after the water gets to 70 Degrees, no 60 degrees, no 50 degrees, and cost you alot of money to replace them after the water cools a bit plus Jigs weigh too much and will cost too much for fuel to carry those heavy things around in your truck and boat, not to mention they will make you sweat just to throw'em. I have found that jigs are best in water temps that will sustain Bass life and in the "ALL" of the year. During this short 365 day period, the fish seem to be most responsive to the jig and really appreciate it as a favorite table fare. I have often found that the fish consider the jig much like a dessert or a delicacy during this short window of time and will gobble it up, get snatched up, then get admired and chunked back in the water only to beg for more jigs. Feel the hit, take up the slack quickly while locating the fish with pointing the rod and "Give it too'em". We have no guarantee as to where the bait is in the fish's mouth at any given time, we only know that the fish has it right when we feel the strike. It doesn't take even a small fish very long to take in completely a 10 inch worm and it is dangerous to think different. As many smaller fish take a 10" worm too deep as larger fish. Smaller ones are usually competing with another or many other small fish so they will enhale the bait quickly and they are often more agressive naturally. Different strokes for different fish. I like 5/0 minimum on 10 in worms and my favorite hook is a 5 or 6/0 eagle claw extra long shank heavy wire hook. And on the amount of time needed before hook set, I smack'em asap 100% of the time. Big O www.ragetail.com

Glad you like them. Last night we caught most of our fish on the darker colors and my client caught his PB, 9 lbs at 1:00 am on Smokey Shad color by a lit boat dock. He said he's gonna mount it, The Shad that is, under a framed picture of his fish. I gave him a new Rage Shad cause his was a little ripped up. Big O www.ragetail.com

Be sure to take care of your rain gear by letting air out and dry after a soaking as well as keep it in its own large poly bag while stored. This will guarantee it to not only last a long time but also be usable in many other applications like hunting etc. without bad scent or possible mildew problems. Great rain gear is like a great friend, the better we take care of it, the better it takes care of us. I have 2 sets light weight and heavy Cab GW and have had'em for over 10 yrs. Can only fish nights and in the order of most productive baits are as follows: For big Fish- 3/8 or 1/2 oz Oldham Jig and New large Rage Tail Craw trailer New Rage Tail 10" worm Tx rigged 3/8 oz in wind and 1/4 still. For shear numbers and client excitement, Black Flake Rage Tail Shad on points and over the moss beds and a black 3/8 oz spinnerbait w/ single #6 copper Colorado. This past week, our topwater and spinnerbait fish were a bit bigger than last months average. Should be even better this week cause the moon is getting better as we go. From new to full seems to be the best timing for'em. Big O
