Glad you like'em BW569, Here's an article that was just posted last week On May 30th, Phil Marks and Richard Draper took 1st Place in the BASS CHAMPS tournament at Lake Whitney, Texas. Phil said they were flipping and casting Texas rigged Rage Tail Space Monkey's and were able to top the big field of competitors with over 28 lbs setting the new 5 fish heavyweight record on that lake by more than 4 lbs. This versatile design lends itself to a variety of popular rigging techniques that have proven effective at the highest level on the Pro Fishing Tour. Hey Scott, Welcome to BR and hope you enjoy yourself here...We sure do. If I were you, I'd definitely change it up a bit and maybe go a little smaller or change the bait to a tube bait or maybe a creature bait of some sort. We have similar color patch fish here in Tx too. I believe the fish's natural color is the lighter color and the darker patches are the extras as shown on his black side fin. They obviously carry these markings through out their lives because I have caught the same fish year after year and recognized them by their markings. Doesn't appear to be detrimental to them at all.....I kinda like'em ;D Big O www.ragetail.com

A friend of mine (Gene) said that he hadn't been Night Fishin' in over 10 years and I told him "We gotta fix that" ;D So off we went to witness the Lure of the Darkness. It was one of those nights that began with ckin water first and fishin' second, because this lake is relatively new to me and I haven't fished it since last year. We spent an hour and a half doing some electronics searching to study things and with full Summer patterns in this part of Texas, the majority of the fish were in 20 ft or deeper. The surface temps were in the low 80's over most of the lake, and we decided the best style of fishing would be Jig n lobster, Carolina rigging the Rage Tail ______ and throwing a Big O Worm.....we guessed right. Regardless of where we went, the fish gladly ate our offerings. Many of the first fish were small cookie cutter size and that made us change the structure we were targeting from deep grass humps, to 20 ft depth on relatively sharp decline into the river channel bends. I marked the depth with waypoints and held the boat in that depth throwing parallel along the decline in order to more completely cover the determined depth. The size of the fish improved substantially and Gene gotta Good'un. No scales on board so didn't weigh her....but gotta picture. Was a great fight and on the hook set the rod creaks, the drag strips and then she ran Gene's drag several more times which had him on his tippy toes. I love that part ;D We're off the lake by 5:30 AM and just in time because in rolls rig after rig for a local tournament.....Rush Hour Big O www.ragetail.com

If you use a swimbait hook on the Rage Shad along with a 1/8 to 3/16 oz bullet slip weight, you can run the shad deep like a crankbait or swimbait. It takes this additional weight to get deep and keep it there because the bait surfaces so easy. I will throw this rig instead of a spinnerbait in many situations... Big O www.ragetail.com

I have found that anywhere Stripes are eating shad on the surface, they'll eat the Rage Shad too....as you've seen. They'll also eat it sub surface rigged on a 1/4 oz swimbait hook Glad you're havin' fun with'em Big O www.ragetail.com
