Tommy, your post definitely does not make me mad or upset in any way....You have stated your opinion as accurately as possible but it did in fact tell me that we at Strike King and Rage Tail have not done enough in the way of informing the general fishing public of the unique differences between Rage Tail Designs and any others in the market place. Many of the Pro's and busy tournament anglers know the differences that Rage Tail provides because they are always on the edge looking for the newest and latest hot products. Although many craw, toad, worms, etc. from many manufacturers look basically like craws, toads, worms, etc., There is a distinct and unique difference in the area of design that provides the variety of actions received. I will only design products that I believe have a much different and much better associated action than others in the market place. With these unique designs, come the need for Patenting processes etc which also helps to designate those distinct differences. Also at Rage Tail, we are trying to go the extra mile to insure that the shape of the baits are maintained thru the manufacturing and packaging processes and now the majority of all of the Rage Tail products are hand assembled, 1 bait at a time, in a numerical order, in hard shell plastic clams before they are placed inside the Bag. This process guarantees the best action possible from each individual bait within the package. Many of these processes are extremely expensive, but we believe that to be the very best in the industry, we must constantly give our very best effort and in every area of our product development and product delivery systems. Good is not good enough anymore....It's either completely RIGHT or It's completely WRONG.....there is no in between. Hey Simp, different conditions will require different retrieve styles but for night time, the best all around is most probably a slow lift of the rod tip maintaining contact with the bottom and a gentle slide forward, light click pause, take up slack and feel....then repeat. Every chance you get to bump it or lightly jump it over an stick, grass or rock, get ready....if this is where you are getting the most strikes, it could be the structure thats holding the fish or it could be the jump of the worm that drawing the strike. This is when you start a series of lifting the rod tip to feel, light hop or jump with a click intentionally in the areas where you are not feeling the bottom structure. Try to avoid moving the bait too far forward with eash series. At night, since the fish are primarily feeding by feel, it makes sense to provide them with more sound, water movement and action yet not moving the bait too far to quick so that the fish have time to locate it and EAT it.... If I am keel weighted over grass at night, Glass rattle in the Annie, slow gentle lift or hop click and pause, feel then repeat. Might try placing a glass bead between the eye of the hook and the weight. Brass or tungsten weights when using beads will also make more noise than lead. Also might try a glass rattle in your worm. At night, anything whether it be action, vibration, or noise to bring more attention to a slow moving presentation will normally fair better. Big O www.ragetail.com

Hey Rhino....You can say lucky if you want, but paying attention to how fish react to a given presentation and then capitalizing on it is called "catching fish". those fish must've thought that Rage shad had a stroke and passed out, ;D Your technique works often in and around grass, vegetation pockets, brush etc. but rarely do we hear about it being effective in the more open water areas. You had'em rounded up for sure. I will often fish the Shad with a 3/16 to 1/4 oz keel weighted hook, it can be fished fast or slow under the surface like a swimbait or wake bait. Sounds like you don't need'em so just keep on keep'in on... Big O www.ragetail.com

Rowland, That is one of my favorite hooks as well and I use it on every Rage Tail bait there is at different times or when the need arises. Fishing larger high action soft plastics either weightless or with keel weighted hooks adds a whole new dimension to finesse style fishing that many others have yet to try or figure out..... And Brett, I fish'em weightless, keel weighted, Tx rigged, Carolina rigged and all weight sizes depending on the wind and/or water depth....My favorite Tx rig weight is 1/4 and Carolina rig weight is 1/2 when wind allows. Took a couple of my Rage'aholic friends fishing and "did we have fun"...... We had a blast and the fish were very cooperative to say the least. When the wind wasn't blowing in gale force, I would hold the back of the boat out about 15 yards off the grass beds and let'em have at it with Keel weighted Anacondas. The Annies seductive fall onto the top of the grass and in the small pockets was more that the fish could stand. Many were caught just on a gentle lift and fall as the Anaconda rarely got tangled up in the grass. This technique allowed the bait to be fished completely and thoroughly over each different bed of grass without ripping thru it possibly startling or pushing the fish out. Definitely one of my favorite techniques for fishing points or humps with grass. It also allows you to feel the outside edges where the Anaconda can be worked slowly down the deepest edges where alot of the bigger fish were waiting. Of course, I had to throw the Jig n Lobster around a little too ....Neither of my digital scales agreed with one another but the biggest fish (caught by Darryl) weighed easily over 12 lbs. on both of them.
