  1. He's still on in the off topic section. And I Facebooked him. I don't think he's banned, I think he's just taking it easy for a little while...
  2. Wait a minute...Did Roadwarrior just recommend a Quantum product?!??! Ugly Sticks are great, economical rods for catfishing and can be sized to fit the fish you're after.
  3. I'm sure it's a fine rod and reel for the price. It'll be fine to learn on. Could you get a better rod? Certainly. Could you get better for $50? Probably not. Try it out and see if you like flyfishig and then spend the money on a better set up.
  4. GREAT game! Russia and the Czechs was entertaining too!
  5. Quite the rambling, finger pointing manifesto. It's all very tragic.
  6. I fish the soft plastic 4 and 5 inch swimbaits on my MH Bionic blades all the time. I even sometimes fish them weightless on a M rod. I use Fireline crystal 14# (I think) on both. No problems.
  7. My heartfelt condolences, we put our lab of 13 years down last May. It may have been said already, but get your grieving in, and then get yourself another. I moped around for months like part of my life was missing and then a new one fell into our lap.
  8. Guiness is your lowest calorie mainstream "regular" beer. I think they're about 150 calories apiece. Drinking is fine, moderation and exercise is key. Good luck, I'll be joining you.
  9. Then I got no beef with you! But you have to admit you are not in the majority of CCW holders or handgun owners. If you think you are, you're not paying attention at the range, or you have someplace private (God bless you) to shoot and don't go to public ranges. It's scarily funny...funnily scary...somethng like that, the mishandling, poor handling, horrible muzzle management, etc.
  10. What do you mean your CCW isn't that sloppy?
  11. I have Webroot Antivirus. It's a cmpany out of Boulder, CO that I used to have profoessional contact with when I lived there. It costs $20-40 for up to three computers. Loads fast, they have great online help, they'll backup your system, and they will access you computer remotely if needed to help you fix whatever is fragged. It's a great product and it loads fast.
  12. Common sense sometimes ain't so common. There's certainly no harm in telling Johnny Law that you have your (insert weapon of choice here) on your hip before you take your hand past that hip to reach for your wallet, is there? No argument and no doubt there' s some Barney Fifes, but he/she's out there doing his/her job, trying to keep the rest of us knuckleheads safe, the least you can do as a legal carrier if you're stopped and have to reach for anything remotely near your wepon is tell them you have it, and the paperwork for it. If you make afurtive movement for your weapon and he/she plugs you, the court is certainly going to back him/her.
  13. I use a fluoro leader in clear water, slow presentations (jigs, tx rigs) where fish *might* see the lie, and occasionally when I'm having trouble with the limp braid fouling teh front treble hook. Other than that, no.
  14. What's revealed? You can't honestly tell me that you haven't seen people at the range who just had a handgun to have a handgun, so they could carry, feel tough about themselves, and show of for their friends. We're getting a little off topic in the topic, but I would say the majority of people with CCWs don't practice enough at the ranges and times to make them any safer. I'm absolutely and advocate of CCW, but I think there should be better (not necessarily more) training and testing for people before they're allowed to run around with a handgun, for their safety and the safety of others.
  15. With some people, absolutely. It'd be silly to argue that.
  16. I think you might have partially made my point. The last thing anybody wants is for you to reach for your wallet for ID/license and have your concealment garment slip open, and that overreactive Barney Fifer think you're going for your weapon. It's just a situation that could be avoided with some removal of testosterone. But to each his/her own.
  17. Nor they yours
  18. While it'd be silly to just run up to every cop you see and ell them you're carrying, I would think good sense would dictate that if you were stopped for something else, that you be up front about it. Officers/agents declare it for safety reason if they interact in plain clothes (i.e. a federal agent getting pulled over for speeding). It just makes alot of stupid accidents less likely to happen.
  19. Try using it with an extremely light keel weighted hook, like 1/32 oz. You don't want to sink it, you just want that weight to keel the bottom It heps the action tremendously.
  20. X100 on what Fishingbuds just said.
  21. He does have a sweet 'stache though...until his face rots off.
  22. That's because it's so cold there! My wife's from Chicago/Lisle
  23. I have two MH Bionic Blade two piece spinning rods that I use for pike and bass. They travel well and are well rounded rods, jack of all trades if you will. They do alot of stuff well, not much great. But they are extremely adequate. They've held up to 10 lb+ pike and carp and bass over five pounds. PS- I also have a 2 piece Tourney Special, ML spinning that is good for treble hook lures, but the action on it is sssssssllllllllloooooooowwwwww.
