blass fly tying and hair jigs.
Not my thread, but I have a 5, 7 and 9 weights that I use for bass and use wooly buggers in larger sizes as well as clousers. Deer hair mice worked across the top of grass beds in the evening will get the heart rate up too. Have you (or anyone else) seen the Marini's Wounded Baitfish (anchovie, silverside, etc.) patterns? They're msde from EZ Body. I was looking for something that I could use similar to a senko.

Saints vs. Cowboys tonight....who wins it?
Saints in a laugher...Dallas is one blow up short of a train wreck.

Thief
A person (and pretty much anything else) is rarely all bad or all good. You just have to rank them with yourself.

Hey deep fryer fans!
The black is a little more earthy, the white a little more fragrant...Honestly, not a huge amount of difference.

Glock woes, and a new SIG
I've seen those same problems with Glock 23s as well, mostly with less expensive "practice" ammo. Apparently some of the lower energy rounds don't have the oomphf to cycle the action. And their firing pin spring seems to be weaker. I don't know if the 30 and 23 use the same spring or not. Never had a problem with service ammo or with my 22. Winchester seems to be having trouble with primers in a few lots of ammo as well, so that could be a contributing factor too.

Hey deep fryer fans!
You drizzle it on afterwards. Even better if you have some fresh truffle to shave on but that's some Steez-level $$$. Back to the topic at had, peanut or canola is probably the best combination of high smoke point and price. Safflower has a high smoke point and almost no taste, but it's a little expensive. Another tip, if you strain the oil through a coffee filter laced in a strainer, it'll last a long long time. It works best when the oil is just a little warm. Last thing, if it's getting near the end of the oil's life (or you just want to) I fry a couple of bacon strips in the oil (careful not to burn them) and then fry your fish, potatoes, and hush puppies.

Kayak NOVA trip
Go to REI or LL Bean or whoever sells canoes/kayaks near you and get the $20 kayak/canoe car kit. Best $20 you'll ever spend as it relates to he yak. I've used the same one for four different boats over several years. Basically it's two ratchet straps and four foam blocks.
- Jack Daniels combinations...

Kayak NOVA trip
Nope, that's a little crazy. I used to stand in mine (Hokifisherman has it now), but that's an advanced technique.

Kayak NOVA trip
Let me back up before I get into trouble ...By "get your legs" I meant "get used to fishing out of a kayak. " Standing in one is a whole other animal.

Kayak NOVA trip
If I might throw out a suggestion, go to Quantico and go out on Lunga or come on up to Roaches Run for your first trip, unless you've fished from one before. It's much easier on still water to get your legs, especially this time of year where a dip can be fatal.

PB Striped bass from the kayak!
I used to fish below Ft Loudon dam near Knoxville for fish like that (though almost certainly never that big...); it's a RUSH in a kayak! That's a gorgeous fish. If I may ask, were you on the Potomac?

Black Shirts of Nebraska
If Nebraska had any semblance of an offense, Texas loses by two touchdowns. A boy named Suh is an aslute MAN. But that's why they play the game.

plantar fasciitis
Freeze a roll of nickels and roll that on the floor with the arch of your foot and moderate pressure for a few minutes a few times a day. The coolness reduces the inflammation and the movement stretches the tendons. It works pretty nice for $4 physical therapy.

What up with my laptop?
Dell makes the batteries to last about 1.5 to two years; we just had to replace my wife's on her work laptop. She had the exact same problem. Says it's charging and tehn 99-100% battery when plugged in and there's good current going through the battery, but then dies a few seconds after you pull the cord.

Deer Jerky recipes
This is for one pound of meat, sliced thin: 1 cup Worchestershire sauce 1/4 cup Brown Sugar 1/8 cup fresh Black Pepper Tablespoon each of Garlic Powder and Onion Power (or not) Marinate forat least an hour up to overnight. Dry however. You want it spicy, toss in a teaspoon of cayenne. You want it asian/terryaki, use soy instead of worchestershire, honey instead of brown sugar and toss in a teaspoon+ of dried ginger.

Handgun Advice- Buying
You can also get a belly/chest band holster. Fits nice under a T-shirt. I'm not a fan of the inside the pants holsters. You could get a Glock 26/27 and an ankle holster that's better concealment. I have a friend who wears his 22 on his ankle, but he's a good sized guy. I would (did) get a good, close fitting leather holster and learned how to wear it and what to wear it with. You could also just tuck it in your sweatpants... ;D

Engaged
Congrats on the engagement; I've been married almost two years now to a lovely lady who loves to fish and I'm still getting used to the ring (the actual ring, not the being married part that it comes with). But before this get weird, I got a tungstun carbide ring. It looks good, is inexpensive, and wears very well. They are very hard to cut off if you ever have to have it cut off, so I would advise that you never have the need to have it cut off.

Slug Gun For Deer Question.
As for the recoil, shotguns do give you a good push, but it's not as bad as the sharp crack of a large caliber deer rifle (30-06, 270, etc.). If you don't have it tight to your shoulder, it will hit you in the face, so keep it tight. For accuracy, if you get a rifle slug barrel or rifled choke tube, and rifle slugs or sabots, you shouldn't have a problem with hunitng accuracy out to 100 yds. With a smoothbore and old fashioned slugs, I'd limit it to 50-75 yards. A good low-power scope or aimpoint will make it much easier to be accurate.

GPS units?
I have the TomTom XL for our personal car and the Garmin Nuvi 670 for work. I like the TomTom better navigationally. The Garmin seems slow to load and readjust. Another thing, reload the maps/update regularly if you're in any sort of an urban area. It helps the unit connect to the satellites more efficiently.
