9/11: Science And Conspiracy, on National Geographic
Has anyone else seen or are you watching it? It's like people just choose to ignore that there's VIDEO TAPE of the planes crashing into the buildings and Pentagon. And then they prove against many of the "truthers" theories on thermite, et al. And yet these people still purport to think that it was some sort of conspiracy. It just sticks in my craw. PS-Sorry if this is too political, please remove it

most influential bait of the decade
Short of really heavy cover, ou can fish everywhere top to bottom with an original rapala and some split shot. It's still a "go to" for me, especially in moving water.

NOVA Reel cleaning?
There's a small place off Lee highway in Arlington, near the Starbucks ( ;D). I can't think of the name of it at the moment. It's really near Military Rd. at elast I think he does reels.

Top current College BBall coaches
Pat Summit at UT and Geno Aureama at UConn are two greats, albeit in the women's game.... Bruce Pearl's not doing too bad if he can keep his guys on the team. Coach K hands down...And I absolutely detest Duke.

Lake Anna trip...who's going and with who???
I get very limited time to fish between a wife, baby on the way, job, and new house, so our times there have never coincided (broke out the thesaurus). If ya'll go tomorrow I may make a cameo, depending on when you go.

Lake Anna trip...who's going and with who???
I don't have any worries about it being overfished, the Potomac's a big river, and 4mr has some unique qualities that keep god numbers fish there year 'round. It cetainly has never been a secret, even on flyfishing boards. I was just commenting on your 180 on it, and subsequent group trips.

You really went from hating that place to hitting it every chance you get and taking everyone with you...

Keeping her interested
My wife always points to fishing buzzbaits and other topwaters like jitterbugs with her brother when she was younger that really turned her on to fishing. So maybe try short outings to good spots during prime buzzbait times (evenings). Then take her to dinner. Nothing beats the buzzbait strike. My wife'll still fish a buzzbait for hours on end if there's any slight hope of a strike.

The Worst Play In The History of Football
Maybe the Vikes are sharing a new lotion on the sidelines or something? Something with a high SPF for their boat trips?

The Worst Play In The History of Football
Agreed, if we're talking about the pick. And man o man have they put the biscuit on the turf alot today!

Rod + Braid question
Yes, but know that if you screw your drag down tight, that rod may or may not take the stress that the heavier braid will put on it on hooksets, hang-ups, fighting fish, etc.

Shad fishing
Yes, shad darts, roostertails, and small spoons all work well. I like going down to Fredericksburg to fish the Rappahannock (sp?), but the Potomac is good as well.

Muzzleloader scopes
Open door/window makes a sweet rest, don't it?

any nova members going on the BR road trip?
We would be, but we've got a baby due Mid-April. But it sounds like a good time.

Muzzleloader scopes
For me, and this is just my opinion, the primitive seasons give me a chance to expand my hunting skills, not just control the population. But to each his/her own. I also enjoy catching bass and bluegills on a microlight rod. I could do it with a 7 ft med heavy, but it wouldn't be near as fun.

warm water winter reports- 4mr,spoils, blue plains, lake anna, etc..
If you want to hook something big, bring some corn and/or white bread and fish for carp; there's some huge ones digging around in the mud right now. Tough out there today, high, fast current, muddy, and cold. Caught a few (2.5) of the sub lb bass on a roostertail that I carolina rigged to get it down. Also snagged a few of the shad on the same thing. Had hits on the jig w/smoking rooster trailer, but that could've been sticks washign down in the current.

Muzzleloader scopes
Because, in my opinion, muzzleloaders, like shotguns and bows, always historically have been short range (150 yds and under) weapons. Putting all the technological advances onto and into these weapons defeats the purpose of these "primitive hunting methods" and the seasons which are based on them. What's the challenge if you can what's basically a single shot modern rifle for a muzzleloader? Instead of having seasons where people improve their hunting skills, learn to use the wind, and get up close and personal for a kill, we're taking advantage of the extra time with more technology instead of less. I think it sucks. Totally, singly, and solely my opinion though. That said, use whatever you need to make an accurate, DRT shot.

guess i'm o for 1 now.
I'd like to say it's not over yet...I'd like to, but it's been over since it started.

Muzzleloader scopes
Weaver K4, or something with very low magnification and a good field of view. Depending on the muzzleloader (or the spirit of muzzleloading seasons) there's no need for more than 4X. That is my personal opinion.

Kiffin to USC
Cutcliff would provide some stability and be a familiar, trusted face. And hopefully he could bring our "quarterbacks" along more than Lane of Phil. He'll need a good defensive coordinator though. Even when we hired Kiffin, I always thought it was like dating a really hot, really crazy chick. It's going to be alot of fun, but when it goes bad, you better hide the pets.

NOVA Fishing report 1/7

I need to relocate, must have good bass fishin, where?
Root Beer, maybe you're not fishing it right, or in the right places... I've always been a bigger fan of Tellico. Never had much luck on Norris, other than in the Clinch River below Norris dam, where the trout fishing is fantastic. You will also hit an enormous striper there from time to time. Watauga is a great fishery, as is Douglas closer to the dam and below the dam in the river. You're in God's country there my boy, God's country.

I live in DC now, but I'd be more than happy to point you in the right direction anywhere in TN.
