Fishing in DC
I wouldn't do McMillian without an escort. Although you may get a body out of there. My wife and I have had good success in the canal, mostly early and late and on stormy days. Good things are flipping plastics into the brush when the sun os up and topwaters (we likle buzzbaits) early and late. Spinnerbaits are always useful. Rent a rowboat if you want to have a good day of flipping. You could also fish down Haynes Point along the stone shore walls. Jigs around the broken spots will take lmb and some noce smallies. Lots of places to fish in DC without crossing the river.

Fishing in DC
Go to Fletcher's Boathouse, buy your license there, and then fish the canal and the Chain Bridge area. Easy walking and plenty of room. You can toss a decent cast across the canal, but it's got some decent bass. The area around Chain Bridge you could catch just about anything, striper, snakehead, smb, lmb, walleye, crappie, yellow perch, white perch, gar, blue cats, channel cats, panfish, shad, and an occasional musky. Did I miss anything in that list guys?

lake anna public or private boat landing address
So to actually try to help: Topwater (I like spooks and spook jr's in baby bass or buzzbaits) is good early before the sun starts touching the ater, and late when it comes off. Alot of fish will be deeper during the day right now so you can try to fish crankbaits or slow roll spinnerbaits deep around the bridges and contours. If you have electronics, use them to find structure. There are also a considerable number of boat docks to pitch and skip to, as well as work with shallow cranks and spinnerbaits. It really helps to work the docks from deep to shallow and vice versa with a few different techniques (j&p, shallow crank, spinnerbait, skipped soft plastic) until you find what the fish might be doing that day or if there's some cover within the structure.

Got my new Dobyns Savvy - excitement then disapointment
Are they supposed to check reels for manufacturers defects too? Check eyelets on baits? Sharpen hooks? Where does it end? It was a manufacturing flaw; they're making it right. I know it might sound CRAZY, but mistakes do happen (never by me though ). Don't make them more than they are. TW has always shown caring competent service to everyone who I've known to have contact with them. Let them make it right and then thank them for their good service.

Jig & Worm Rod Suggestions
The 7 foot Daiwa Cielo on sale at Tackle Warehouse. Under $150 and you will not get close to that rod at that price.

Daiwa Limited Lifetime Warranty, Broken Cielo (sigh)- UPDATE
What does anyone know about Dawa's Limited Lifetime Warranty? I broke my Cielo that I've had for about a month. A combination of clear shallow water, a premature hookset and an unlucky direction as the jig hit my rod between the second and third guides from the tip, breaking it clean. I just want to know if I'm SOL or what I need to do. Thanks

901 guys. anyone ever fish WHITEVILLE lake?
It is a shallow lake, but I used to catch great numbers of 1-3lb fish with a five or so every few trips. It's been close to 15 years since I've fished it, but we'd do well flipping downed trees and then fishing deeper on the steep bank right near the rental boats, just across that first cove. 7 " Berkley powerworms in red shad or junebug always seemd to work there, never anywhere else. Alot of nice bluegill and shellcrackers in there too,

What's Yer Favorite C-Rig bait & Why?
Up where you are, a darker colored fluke or sluggo on about a 24" leader, or, dare i say it, a baby rage craw on about a 12" leader.

Wading creeks for smallies
Somebody change the record, it sounds broken 8-) X2 on the trick worms. Roostertails in the Grasshopper color scheme cover alot of moving water. Begrudgingly, the baby rages are pretty good baits.

Burke Lake (Fairfax)
My wife and I fish the Potty out of a canoe. You just have to stay closer to where you lauch. The bays fish the same whether you're in a canoe or a bass boat.

Burke Lake (Fairfax)
I thought my etc covered dropshot? Once you locate the brush piles and drop offs, fish them with shakeyheads, tx rigs, jigs, etc. You could even use a heavier carolina rig to make long casts to locate them, AND fish them more thoroughly, especially from the bank. Fishing from the bank can be difficult there as most of the brush piles and some of the drop-offs are a long cast off the bank, but not all.
-
How many rods have you broken on a hookset?
One, a MH Shimano Clarus, on an 8 inch pike. It wasn't the hookset's problem, it was something wrong with the rod. Also probably my fault.

Trout in Accotink Creek? Annandale, Va
Strangely enough, some fish do carry over year to year, especially hen we have a cool summer like last year. Try in the stretch in/around Wakefield Park at Braddock and 495. There's panfish in there as well to keep you occupied if the trout aren't around.

Burke Lake (Fairfax)
Wow, I got deleted too. FISH THE BRUSHPILES OFF DROPOFFS JUST AT THE MOUTHS OF THE SMALL COVES NEAR THE DAM. TO FIND THEM, USE YOUR ELECTRONICS, OR IF YOU"RE SHORE-BOUND, WORK SOMETHING BOTTOM BOUNCING AROUND THE MOUTHS OF THE COVES, AWAY FROM THE BANK Once you locate the brush piles and drop offs, fish them with shakeyheads, tx rigs, jigs, etc. You could even use a heavier carolina rig to make long casts to locate them, AND fish them more thoroughly, especially from the bank. Fishing from the bank can be difficult there as most of the brush piles and some of the drop-offs are a long cast off the bank, but not all. With a boat, it gets considerably easier. Burke is the best lake for numbers of good sized fish in the area, far and away. Now the muskies...those'll drive you nuts. [edit]Sarcastic remarks removed.[/edit]

Burke Lake (Fairfax)
Also in reference to your question, if you start from the dam and work your way around the area off points and themouths of coves with 10 ft + cranks or slow rolling a heavy spinnerbait, you'll find some deep brushpiles pretty quick. If you don't get bit on the crank/spinnerbait, slow down and work the brushpiles as you bump them with tx rigged plastics or jigs. I've had better luck getting bit on the cranks, but the spinnerbait locates the piles faster without electronics. Also, the spinnerbait always comes back from the brush, which I can't say the same for the cranks. You can also fish spooks or oter topwater early and late over these same areas. Be prepared to hook a musky, or be prepared to lose the spook. Either way, it'll get your heartrate up. Failing that, maybe try a day with Steve, but you'll probably be able to do just as well on your own.

BPS bionic blade spinning rod? help...
I have 2 of the 7 ft MH 2 piece rods and tehy are just fine, especially at that price point. Mine have lenty of bass and a few nice pike and stripers to their credit and have performed very well. Are they a little heavy? Yes, but with the balancing kit that's not a huge deal. I like their taper as it's stiff enough formost plastics, but also soft enough to work shallower cranks with.

Bass Pro anti-CCW - Resolved.
It is a common opinion that lots of folks walking around with concealed weapons means accidental discharges all over the place. While it does happen, it is rare compared to the number of folks carrying concealed. A LOT more folks will have one or more accidents with their vehicles (many resulting in injury or death) than firearms owners that carry concealed. When you buy a holster for CC, do you check to make sure your sidearm of choice fits? When you purchase a handgun, do you look down the sights at the counter (hopefully into a "safe" backstop)? My point was that banning carrying loaded handguns is the absolute rule in many gun shops, law enforcement academies, and other places where you run into a large quantity of guns that "should" be unloaded. I don't think alot of CCW holders are idiots (while there are some, you have to admit), but on a whole they're pretty a pretty responsible lot. But accidents do happen, and if you carry a loaded weapon into a store/cleaning room/classroom etc. where people will be handling "unloaded" guns, you introduce the chance, no matter how small, that an accident will happen. Alot more people walking around carrying concealed actually does increase the likelihood that someone will have an AD, just by sheer numbers. It happens at police departments, training academies, ranges and gun shops across the country.

Bass Pro anti-CCW - Resolved.
Since they sell guns, they do not want any loaded guns walking around that may possibly be confused with the unloaded ones, or be taken out and tried in holsters that they sell; it's a recipe for disaster. I'm pretty sure they had an accident like that, confusing the gun from the counter with someone's carry, pointing and BANG...hole in the fish tank. I doubt they're anti-CCW, it's just a safety issue.

I want...
On the stink; They're machine washable. I have water shoes that will curl your toes; apparently they took that into consideration. I guess for Burley in SW by God VA, machine wash might as well be unicorn wash.
