  1. Sensation 10# Green for 75% of my cranking. small diameter/ strong line/ low stretch
  2. I agree 100% with the multiple crankbaits! Never fails they will either stop making that bait or that color and as soon as they do you start catching the mess out of the fish on that bait! On multiple day events, if I have a good day, I will duplicate everything I did the night before. For instance, I will eat at the same restaurant, order the same meal, etc. If I am on the second floor of the hotel, I will run up the stairs in the same multiples as the night before the good day. ;D Yeah and I thought I was the only freak out there! haha I also tend to have a fish call that goes like this: "Heeerrreee fishy fishy fishy" Don't know why but its something that I have done for years!
  3. I agree that Mike is a huge asset to the growth of our sport and I have met him and he is a Class A person. Yeah he might be a freak on TV but in person he is just like you and me; He loves fishing and he shows it! On a side note- I want to see the video of him breaking the window/ windshield with the SOSpenders. Heard about it a bunch but never saw the video.

I started fishing the DT6's in late summer/ early fall last year and absolutely love them. They are great baits and have only had problems with one and that was because I hit the head of the trolling motor on my cast and cracked the bill but I have Super glued the bill and to this day I am still catching fish on it.
  5. I'd be curious as to how they fit the head of the worm. I personally like my weights to not stick out wider than the head of the worm. I might be crazy but thats my theory. ;D
  6. The pros will be fishing out of their own personal boats from what I understand.
  7. I tend to agree that the GPS will not make an angler great overnight, but I tend to disagree with the statement that a GPS will not help you find fish unless someone gives you some coordinates. I have really relied on my Mapcard Data in my GPS to help locate fish while on the water. I can now see where a channel swings close to a point, if the bank across the creek has deep water on it, etc. I know you could dig out the paper map and look but my GPS allows me more effeciency on the water. I can process more water over the course of the day and it helps me locate fish.
  8. Just curious as to the "heart-shaped bill" comment. Is it a Model A or is it a Speed Shad? I have a bunch of Speed Shads that have that bill but do not have any Model A's with that bill. If they are the old Speed Shad then you definitely should sell them to me because they DO NOT WORK at all! Just kidding. I have caught a bunch of fish in the spring and fall on the older Speed Shads.
  9. Thanks TeamBerettaGold. I think my marriage will survive now! ;D
  10. When your wife repeatedly asks you to delete Bassmasters off of the DVR because there is no more room for any other shows to record. Anybody figured out how to get those things from DVR to VHS/ DVD? This is not a joke actually. >
  11. Bass Pro sells a "rubber Toothpick" (I believe they call it a t-peg) that is awesome. It is basically a piece of rubber that tapers out to a point. You use it very similar to the toothpick method but it is easier to get it back out of the weight after use. Plus it does not fray your line and you can also adjust it to different lengths if you want to.
  12. I am a firm believer in the old saying "buy the highest quality rods and reels that you can afford." Highest quality usually means more $$$ but not always. Fishing is 90% in between your ears!
  13. Got to love the Lunker Sauce!
  14. I use a 1/2oz. 90% of the time, unless it is the Fall. In the Fall I will use a small spinnerbait to mimic the smaller baitfish. Usually a 1/4oz or a 3/8 oz.
  15. I would have to say either a Pointer 100 or Gunfish both in Chart. shad.
  16. Jay Yelas wrote a book a few years back that was very good. I have read it multiple times. It is an autobiography so its more of how he got to where he is instead of how to fish certain baits. Very good read! I have also heard a bunch about "Bass Wars" but have not gotten my hands on it.
  17. All the above posts should be dead on BUT if the water is cold and you are having mud entering the lake then they might be the opposite of what you should do. If the water is cold (50 and below) the fish will probably search out better water quality or shut down. It also really depends on the temp of the water entering the body of water you are fishing. If the rain was colder than the lake you were fishing then that water entering the lake will be colder and muddier. Once the conditions stablize those creeks will definitely be the place to be but you might find fish that want to cooperate more in the less effected areas. If it was me I would check out the water temp. in the backs of the creeks and start there but I would not live and die by the backs of the creeks. I would run a few to try to see if there were any active fish and then look for more stable water if they did not produce. JMHO I would focus on Double Colorado Spinnerbaits, Wide Wobbling crankbaits, and Big bulky jigs. These fish will be tight tight to cover.
  18. Good Luck Shad!! We will be pulling for ya.
  19. BW PLLLEeeeeasseee let us know how that thing works! I have been dreaming about getting a 6'8" one for shakeyheads but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
  20. I would take my dad and we would head out for a year in our Zepher Travel System. We would spend a month or so in Florida (Okeechobee/ Toho) or Amistad/ Falcon and then fish the whole Elite Series as a Pro/ Coangler with some well planned stops in between events. The other stops mixed in would be Guntersville (spring), Logan Martin, Lanier (late in the year for those deep magnum spots), Champlain, Clear Lake, and the Cal Delta (time permitting-wait it is my "dream" trip so we would make it happen!) Oh yeah and we would have a travel partner the whole way - KVD. And all this would be paid for by Microsoft or some huge company like that. I could go on and on but I think I'll stop now since I am at work. Awesome thread!
  21. I have the tournament mentality so 5 good keepers would be a good day. 2 limits would be a very good day. I also consider any day that I learn something new a good day. Though a 5lber could send a so-so day into a good day in the blink of an eye (especially on Tournament day)
  22. I have been using 6lb Sensation and really haven't had any complaints at all. Getting a good hookset in 35+ can be tricky with 6lb line but with the lower amount of stretch in this line it really helps. Almost all of my DS bites are "pressure" bites and probably wouldn't help if you could see your line move since they are just more or less sitting there with it. MHO
  23. I just had a pretty good experience with a Crucial on the warrenty issues (If there is such a thing). I took a 6'6" spinning rod in to try to buy a new tip ( I knocked the ceramic out of it) to put on it. The guy at the store told me that he would send it off to Shimano and they would do it for free, but I would not have access to the rod for a couple of weeks (It was during a slow time so I didn't care). They sent it off for a tip and Shimano sent me a brand new rod! Can't beat that with a stick! Good choice on the Crucial - Never owned a Loomis but don't really have as much of an urge since I started using Crucials.
  24. 10lb sensation when I am looking for depth 12 - 15lb big game when I am fishing shallow running baits around cover.
  25. Sensations is probably my favorite line! Ike claims to have used it extensively when he won AOY. I have caught smallmouth up to 5lbs in current on 6lb Sensation! It is incredibly strong for its size and shows very little memory. It is all I use on my spinning rods. Sunday I was drop shotting with 6lb line and got hung up. While I was trying to break my 6lb line, I noticed that I was actually puling my 20' boat towards the dock I was hung under! I actually had to take the trolling motor and back away from the dock just to break 6lb line. I am actually thinking about usine 6lb for shakey heads since it doesn't have as much stretch as mono and obviously is strong enough to pull a 3lber away from a dock w/o breaking. Sensation is Very Good Stuff!
